I've been a fan since the beginning. KH2.5 Final Mix is the best arpg ever made imo. So what went wrong with 3? A lot. The story is a mess. I like convoluted stories like ff7, chrono cross etc. But there's a level of intelligence in those that are not present with KH. The level of ***pulls in this game is unrivaled. It just comes across as sloppy and unfocused. They try too hard to force new questions without even considering how it's presented. They "introduce" (force down your throat) some new mystery about some "GURL" who disappeared who has never been mentioned until this game and won't shut up about it. They also tell you NOTHING about it in the end. Wow, good one. Got me dudes. Sorry if that's a spoiler but to me it's not. The absolute worst writing ever. The gameplay is serviceable. But it takes HUGE steps back from kh2.5. They had the perfect template to work off of but just failed to improve in any way and took several steps backwards. Remember how every spell was super useful in kh2? Well not in this game. You have different colored fireballs and 2 aoe's. Wow think of all the possibilities. Combos are unsatisfying. I took off all the combo plus' and finishers because they were just overcomittments and caused me to get hit. They just don't actually make you better. So what's left? Pressing triangle to win of course. Attractions take sooooooooooooooo long to finish and are the most braindead ****. I want to play the game not have it play itself. Overall it's SUPER disappointing. Half the Disney worlds are just movieplot rehashes and the games less than 30 hrs on Proud mode. If you're a super fan and don't mind this game walking all over your expectations and disrespecting your intelligence, then by all means, suffer. Kh1 and 2 fans from a time long ago. STAY AWAY. It's not good

Satisfying conclusion or disappointing follow up?

After putting in 40 hours to complete everything I have to say that this isn't for those who have grown with the franchise. Many aspects that were built up in the previous entries were never given there satisfying conclusions. I find the lack of systems and stories that existed in earlier entries to be disappointing and lack luster. Characters act incompetent and dialog is mostly cringy with lines that make the characters even dumber considering the experience each character has gone thru. Ultimately it's a good looking game but alot of the substance that made the previous games enjoyable and memorable isn't in this one.

We waited all those years for this? Mediocre combat that is a huge step back from it's immediate predecessor Dream Drop Distance, a laughable plot that does a disservice to everyone not named Sora, and empty worlds that are absolutely boring to navigate. Pick this one up when it hits the $20 mark.

A shell of the franchise's former self.

The game has no mention of Final Fantasy characters outside of showing a statue of Cloud, Auron, and Aeris crumbling in the beginning. Other than that, the game's bright colors, wacky rides, and charming characters can't make up for bad dialogue, bad combat, and bad story.

Graphics and gameplay are good but the story...or lack there of is terrible. It's way too easy, I finished the game on proud in 36 hrs. I've played and finished all of the other kh games and this one is by far the worst. I can't believe I've waited so long to be this disappointed.

This game was pretty disappointing for it being in development so long. I really hope they don’t botch Final Fantasy 7 up like this

The worst entry in the Kingdom Hearts series’s. Horrible/boring Disney Worlds and when you get to the end you are expecting way more.
