    Half Baked Mess

Like most reviewers here, I have been a fan of this series since the very first one. I love JRPGs so obviously this and Final Fantasy are two of my favorite franchises of all time. The deluxe edition is pretty nice. The steelbook case looks great and the pin and art book are nice touches. If it's worth the extra $20 is up to you, probably more if you're a super fan of the series. On to the game...whew chile. I am not unrealistic. I knew this would not be the same as KH 1 and 2 (which is still the best installment of the franchise imo) and to try to not play this game with nostalgia glasses. And after being in development for so long and the hot mess that was FF XV, my expectations and faith in Square Enix were already not very high. Even with all that, I was still so disappointed. At first I was impressed by the amazing graphics and expansive worlds and having fun with the new features like the attractions, new and improved gummi system and the gummiphone. After a few hours the shininess wore off, though and I felt left with astoundingly disjointed, hollow and just thrown together storytelling that very rarely had any depth or meaning (and yes I know this series is not known for masterpiece dialogue and certainly not known for clear plot points but it is blatantly worse in this game), boring and repetitive gameplay and worlds that that felt like chores at some point, and combat that wasn't challenging albeit cool looking. I've only put in as many hours as I have to say I got my money's worth and not because I was having fun, which was almost heartbreaking for me. Despite all this, I don't want to discourage anyone from playing it. As you can see there are a ton of people who love this game and I'm so happy for them, I'm just not one of them. I guess in my case too many of the factors that made me fall in love with the franchise were the things that were missing. Things like the coliseum, Sephiroth boss fight, and the Hollow Bastion/Radiant Garden (a world you amazingly don't even go to) gang, although small and not necessarily needed, were just classic elements to me and the absence of it made me sad. It's still a good game and a great way to introduce a new generation to the franchise. Maybe a second playthrough will help it grow on me more and the DLCs that are definitely coming may or may not improve upon some of the flaws.

Being a fan of the Kingdom Hearts franchise, I was very eager to play KH3. I like to view Kingdom Hearts 3 as an attempt by Square to generate interest in the franchise with a younger generation. There were a many newer features that I could have done without, but might appeal to those who love world exploration. The side quests themselves are relatively challenging and enjoyable. The graphics are undoubtedly beautiful. The main story itself seems to drag on but gives you something to look forward to. I would have liked to have more that I could have spent time on in the game, whether it be related to the main story or just different kinds of side quests. The gameplay mechanics were a novelty at the beginning, but just seemed extra after a while. In short: wonderful eye-candy, lacking in story, average gameplay.

I think if youre a fan of this series and waited long enough for 3 youre probably already up to date on the terrible story. If youre a newcomer whos just here for a flashy yet easy action RPG youll get that. Just dont try to approach this game with any sense because the awful writing and unsatisfying characters take the game down a notch. Disney worlds can also either be incredibly empty or have pacing issues.

Things don't feel like they flow smoothly. Whether it's dialogue, or all the form changing, character team ups, attractions, everything feels rather disjointed. For good or bad, they're grabbing things from EVERY KH release, it seems. I'm enjoying revisiting the characters and tone, but... it's rough.

Kingdom Hearts III has incredible combat, some of the best in the series, but the game is weighed down by a plot that struggles to balance the Disney world charm with its closeout of the Xehanort saga. Probably the worst of the main numbered installments, but still a rush to play.

Great game, but not the best in the series.

Great gameplay, but feels gutted compared to the previous titles. The game is very short in terms of story. Not worth $60 for normal game price. But at least the deluxe comes with a small art book and steelcase that looks great with older games.

Kingdom Hearts is a series with a crazy story and silly style. You get more of the same here, don't expect something revolutionary or vastly different from the past games. Most fans are just happy a conclusion has finally come.

After waiting so long....so so long...I expected something better and different and it’s pretty much the same as KH2. The story is...eh. The fighting is equally eh. It’s fun just because but I’m playing other things more.

I really feel that you find yourself sitting watching cut scene videos than actual game play. The graphics seem dated and some of the voice actors take away from the game. My wife finds this game more enjoyable than I do

It's lacking in something that makes the story special. And the final fantasy characters. Where are they? The gameplay is pretty fun, if a bit easy. If you have been waiting for it, then you're probably gonna buy it.

Graphics are gorgeous but the lack of Final fantasy characters leaves much to be desired. KH 2 is and will forever be the crown Jewel of the series. Great for a quick playthrough on proud mode.

Enjoyed the game. The gameplay was a bit toned down from 2 and the story was a bit all over the place. I never got the sense of excitement and wonder I got when I was waiting for KH1 and KH2

It's been a long time coming but man is this game cluttered with confusing dialogue sequences. Less of those and more game play would be nice. Plus they need to fix performance bugs.

I enjoyed this game, but it was wayyyyy to easy and kind if just felt like a giant disneyland commercial. Leave your hype at the door or you will be severely disappointed.

You know if you're gonna get it. Its fine. The biggest missing feature is Final Fantasy representation. It really feels like a huge Disney advertisement at its core.

The graphics and game play we're great but the story was a mess. Also the game is short, around 20 hours and there is very little post game content

Very fun game, but also very light on endgame content. When you're done with the main story there's very little to do.

What happened to the great combat Kingdom Hearts 2 had? What a let down. Where's Walt Disney when you need him?
