Not the strong conclusion to Kingdom Hearts!

The good: - This game still succeeds in charming your pants off, primarily thanks to the recognizable Disney/Pixar characters spread throughout the many colorful worlds. You can't help but smile when Hades 'poofs' onto the scene (voiced by James Woods) or when Jiminy Cricket hops up to offer some advice. - The gameplay is really fun, with many different options to light up the screen with big-bang attacks (partner attacks, attractions, etc.), while also just letting you hack, slash, or shoot your way to victory. It's exciting, colorful, and not overly challenging even on Proud mode. The bad: - The story is convoluted/confusing at times especially if you haven't played any of the earlier games in the series. The dialogue is slow, the writing dull, and the cut scenes at times drag on. - All the explanatory content regarding fights, magic use, form changes, summons, etc. is A LOT. And it all gets thrown at you early in the game as just simple text to read/scroll through with optional tutorials. It's all a bit much for a game that essentially boils down to a button-masher. - There is definitely a bit of laziness that's evident throughout the game, and if you compare it to some of last years top games, it just doesn't have the same level of quality as those (thinking Nier Automata). Everything from the slightly sub-par graphics to the overly-varied menus and mini-games to the blank-and-a-bit-slow load screens. None of these things are terrible, but considering the amount of money and time that went into making this game they simply just shouldn't exist. - To be honest, this game no matter how much I want to love it is a bit disappointing. I've waited 17 years (as have many of you) for this long delayed title. The game play isn't bad, but it feels sparse in comparison to all the cut scenes filled with recent Disney hits. Honestly it feels like Square-Enix didn't make great use of their creative talents to make a game that will live up to the Kingdom Hearts name. I remember all the hype, music and energy that oozed from the 1st KH in 2002 even in the commercial. The first and second Kingdom Hearts had their cut scenes, but they also had a strong story. Story that didn't involve peddling the latest Disney franchises. Even with worlds pulled from the movies like Frozen, Tangled, Monsters Inc, Toy Story, and Pirates of the Caribbean it's lacking in any real story merit. Sure the visuals are nice, but where is the game play experience and storytelling of the previous games? It just wasn't a cohesive mix of Disney and Square.

KH3 is the best rendition of the series without a doubt. It's taken every great aspect from its predecessors; polished them and redesigned them for the better. I'm referring to the Gummi Ship over world, the in game menu, in game mechanics, model design, world design and collectible side quests, with the exception of synthesis. There is hardly any grind required to synth ultima weapons this time around. Maybe that's a Pro for you. The voice over work is incredible, I cant believe they were able to acquire such expensive talents, yet again for this series. Tom Hanks does not reprise his role as Woody unfortunately. For the talent they couldn't acquire, the imitators are very close. The score or soundtrack is amazing as always. Very moving at times. This is the hallmark of the series for me. Video is solid. This isn't Final Fantasy XV quality, but that's okay, it's Disney. It's always a pleasure interacting in your favorite Disney worlds. From the cartoon like Twilight Town to the futuristic metropolis of San Fransokyo, you won't be let down visually. I would recommend a PS4 pro for this title however, there are noticeable frame drops on a standard PS4 in select areas. Gameplay is where Square-Enix missed the mark. It's the easiest game in the series, by far. Sora is an absolute god, and you're never short on ally assists, summons, limit break like attacks, or signature team attacks. Nearly every battle encounter will feature an enemy that if damaged, unlocks a team attack that is well overpowered. All you need to do to win is press X or Triangle in a mob encounter or boss battle. The lack of challenge is a real downer. Did you enjoy the secret bosses in the past? Remember how difficult they were? Well, there's none to be found in KH3. The only thing keeping me playing is the desire to hear the rest of the story. I hope you like cut scenes, you'll be watching a lot of them, which is OK by me as I've been waiting like most of you to hear the next chapter in the story. I'd recommend this game to any Kingdom Hearts fan, or for your child, but that's it. The lack of difficulty nearly kills me, but I have to see the end. Kudos to Square-Enix and Disney for overcoming yet another licensing nightmare. I don't know how they pull this off.

Perhaps the nostalgia has worn off, or perhaps the creators have lost their touch. I’m not sure. Thirteen years later and this game was kind of just alright. It felt more like interactions between cut scenes more than anything else. The linear paths have returned, recreating a lack of exploration. With all the very beautiful designed Disney worlds, they’re all unnecessary in comparison to the actual story line and have no effect on the plot. My biggest complaints: The Toy Box, Toy Story's world, is a prime example of something that feels wrong about the game. Missing is Zorg or any other villain. In comes Square Enix with their own villains. The level is almost entirely custom to the game, borrowing very little from Toy Story itself. In Rapunzel's world, Kingdom of Corona, she goes from being a formidable companion to just a boring stationary NPC after her hair is cut. In Arandelle, with all her magical capabilities, Elsa isn't a fighter at all. She's barely in it. The final bosses of each world feel like they missed the point of their world's themselves. On top of that, the dialogue still doesn't translate as beautifully as it could given the right writers. Graphically, though, this is one gorgeous game. On the technical spectrum, also incredible. Every move lands right, and there's so much going on too. Also, the The Carribean, the Pirates world, is a breath of fresh air and great with it's ship battles. Overall, I'd give a 7/10. It concludes the story beautifully, but it's less of a game and more of a story with small bouts of game play in between.

Kingdom Hearts III finally released, 13 years after Kingdom Hearts II. This sequel generated a ton of hype, as the its two previous installments were generally favorably received by fans and critics. In my opinion, KH3 doesn't quite live up to the hype. If you have not, at the very least, played both Kingdom Hearts 1&2, you'll have a very tough time following the plot. And even if you did, the story still is convoluted at times. Considering that the game is heavily narrative-based, this is a concern. The game is quite easy if you play on its default difficulty. Gamers that are looking for a challenge should play on "proud" mode. Fans of the Disney universe will enjoy the Disney settings and characters you will interact with in the game. Most of the Disney voice actors from the movies assume their respective roles in the game, which is a big plus. Overall, I found the game to be a bit disappointing. I feel that if it wasn't for the Disney characters, this would be a game that most people would probably pass on. This sequel is mainly for die-hard Kingdom Hearts and Disney fans.

The evolution of Kingdom Hearts has stopped in 2005 with the release of KH2. While Kingdom Hearts 3 has become prettier with better graphics, it's beauty is only surface deep. The combat hasn't evolved since Kingdom Hearts 2 and it shows. While this game introduces new layers of combat, the core mechanics are still the same slow and clunky mechanics. I would have like to see a more smooth and fluid combat system in place for a sequel of this magnitude. The story is still incredibly convoluted and confusing. The voice acting is still awkward and the storytelling is dumbed down and spells out every moment for you, albeit it could be for the younger audiences. Despite all of the negative things, I am still enjoying my time with the game. It fun, goofy, and the nostalgia alone is worth it to me. Just don't expect it to be as good as you remember while wearing those rose-tinted glasses.

I played both KH 1/2 in my childhood and had fond memories of playing both of those games. They seemed quite hard at the time, but looking back it was probably just cause I was a child. This game came way too late for fans of the franchise and people new to it, I don't feel will enjoy it that much. The fact that Disney is a part of this game means that it is intended for children to play, which means the mechanics are super easy -- so easy a child can do it. I would say most of the fans of this game are playing it for the story line and Disney worlds, which was partly the original appeal of the game. However, I didn't enjoy this game as much as KH1/2 and probably would not have been happy if this was my first KH and I just bought it at full price.

This game has excellent graphics, and the gameplay is fast paced and exciting, albeit the combat system can get repetitive over time. Where this game falls short of expectations is the story. The writing is poor, with many forced jokes, cheesy lines, and storylines you can see coming from a mile away. In addition, there are an incredible amount of cutscenes that, while cinematically pleasing, break up the pace of gameplay far too often. This game is worth the purchase if you are a pre-existing fan already, but earlier editions are more worth the time.

I have been waiting for years for kingdom hearts 3. I don't want to say I was disappointed by the product because I wasn't but it was meh. For me personally it was meh because I felt the game was short. After completeing all the worlds I was expecting to have to go back to each one to close a "second key hole" like in previous games. Overall I thought the game was good and the upgrades to the keyblades was amazing. I would say if you want to play wait until the game drops to 20-30 bucks that seems like a more appropriate price.

The title says it all. It isn't bad, but it isn't good. The game mechanics are fun, but become repetitive with no real challenge even in the hardest difficulty setting. The plot is a confusing nightmare of jumbled up nonsense. On top of that most of the cutscenes (that are 5-10 mins at times) are a scene for scene remakes of pixar/disney movies which is such a waste of time because they are animated like garbage. 3/5 buy at your own risk, die hard fans will enjoy it, but will question why it took so long to create this.

After the 13 year wait I couldn't wait to jump into this game. The game had no chance at living up to the nostalgia I had as a long time fan. The worlds are cool, the attacks are beautiful, however the game is jokingly easy and doesn't have a critical mode like previous games. Game is only around 25 hours and has little replay value. If you could find this in a red box and rent it for a week I would recommend that as theres not much end game content, or reason to replay the game, that said it is worth a play still.

The game is pretty cinematic heavy and I felt like I was running between points where it would play a cinematic. It has been a long time since I've played Kingdom Hearts 2 so I'm a bit lost at points during the story. The writing isn't great and often I feel like the voice actors weren't guided on how they were supposed to be expressing during a scene. The game play is easy to get into but gets repetitive quickly. I lost interest in the game fairly early on. I'll update if I return to the game.

I was hoping for better dialogue. I really hate the dialogue and the worlds seem too simple/short. This game is kind of painful to play for more than 1-2 hours at a time but I'm a 27 year old who got this game purely for nostalgia and I should have known better. If I was 13 again this might deserve 4 stars. However since I'm guessing a lot of people looking up this game are in my demographic、I have to fairly represent the enjoyment this game has given me so far.

It brought back memories of the previous titles but fell short of them. Graphics were pretty but the gameplay lacked the substance of previous titles. I felt it was made to be alot easier then previous games even set at hard difficulty. Can't say it was worth the $60. Voice acting was also horrendous also no final fantasy characters. If your a fan of the previous id wait till they lower the price but thats just my opinion still worth checking out.

Kingdom hearts is my favorite game series, but after waiting years for this game, it didn't really live up to the hype. It's floatier then I'd have wanted it to be, and i'm not the biggest fan of the new graphical style. I thought it was really cool how they got the original voice actors for some of the Disney worlds, like frozen and rapunzel. I haven't finished the game as of yet, but so far it's not exactly what I guess I was expecting.

Easy on proud, mindless repetitive and boring. No optional content to boot and despite the scope of the things the graphics don’t excuse the game’s performance. It’s somewhat disappointing as the big entry we’ve been waiting for, but chances are if you’re a huge fan you’ve already bought it. If not but you’re really curious to try it, just wait for a sale, the game isn’t quite worth it at its full price, despite it’s length and scope.

There are moments of this game that really made me want to keep playing. However, it takes a little bit (3 hours) to really get going. I've never been a KH fan but the hype really got to me for this game. It does feel like (and unfortunately sometimes look like) a PS2 game (particularly some of the characters and the opening Thebes area. I'm 20 hours in and will beat it and am hoping the end will make me feel like it was worth my time.

Kingdom Hearts 3 feels like your typical Kingdom Hearts game with a new wardrobe. The game itself is great, looks wonderful, plays well. However, it seems too simplistic, and you will just mash X to win. This was not worth $60, it was not worth a 13 year wait, and I am pretty disappointed by the product. Square Enix will no longer be getting pre-orders from me.

I would consider myself a knowledgeable fan of the game. Enough to try and put out something unbiased on the game. Now if you're looking for fun combat and a really pretty game then you're gonna enjoy your time. But the game is plagued with pacing issues and the unbearable writing fans might not even notice due to blinding love of the series. I would give it an okay 6/10 to a good 7/10.

They really ruined this franchise with all the handheld games that came out between the kingdom hearts games. The story is so farfetched and all over the place. Even using the option to explain the story so far is confusing. Everyone I know plays this game and ignores the story. Everyone plays for the disney worlds. Also be prepared for hours and hours of cut scenes.

Now i was extremely hyped for this game but i was let down sadly, the combat is good however there are times where certain mechanics should not be available during certain parts. Story was a huge mess as well due to the inclusion of the mobile game and just very flat story, music was okay nothing to crazy. Definitely wait for a sale to pick this up
