Love this game. The story and graphics are great. However the gameplay is a little lacking. Even in a hard difficulty you can just button match. Not much strategy required to win.

This is definitely the Kingdom Hearts that you know and love! The combat remains just as fun and engaging as ever. There are tons of new Disney based locales to explore, including Frozen and Toy Story, and the graphics have received a shiny new coat to take advantage of modern hardware. It's the full package and I strongly recommend fans of the series and newcomers pick this entry up asap...just don't play it for the story. LOL

This is a well made game, don't let that be confused. The graphics are beautiful, worlds expansive, and controls are complex enough to be challenging. With that being said, I am not completely satisfied with how the storyline is going in this game. In certain situations it feels like the events in the story seem forced and less organic than previous games in the series. The incorporation of disney rides is also ridiculous.

Kingdom Hearts III arrives, and it was well worth the wait! Many KH fans rejoice as Kindom Hearts III has recently been released and it won't disappoint fans of old and new to the series! The story and graphics are all amazing quality and this game in my opinion has surpassed the Final Fantasy series based on their recent disappointing releases. The action turned based RPG works flawlessly and I love the new Magic and Summon abilities as well as wide variety of equipment, items, and weapons to choose and upgrade to personalize your characters! This game is a must add to any RPG fan's collection and a must experience as well!

I'm enjoying the game so far, 4 hours into it. The cut scenes are too long and too frequent for my taste. The game also seems to be aimed at a younger demographic. The graphics are bright and colorful but Pixar did have a hand in this after all. The battles get to be bit tedious as it's mostly just button mashing.

This is the final game in the Kingdom Hearts series. It's animated really well and the gameplay is a lot of fun. If this is the first game of the series that you've played, then don't expect to know what's going on story-wise. Heck, I've played Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, and still don't know what's going on. Other than the story, the graphics are amazing and gameplay is a lot of fun and varied. I'm still working my way through the game, but I'm enjoying it and my kids like watching me play it because it deals with lots of characters that they know.

Played it on X1X. Great graphics and lots of fun all around. I watched the story so far videos that came with it. I was confused from time to time but I could follow the story pretty well regardless. I didn't care for a couple of the worlds but I felt like Disney junkies would have no complaints. It scratched an itch.

I didn't play the former two console releases because I didn't have a console when they were released. Fortunately, this includes the necessary recap videos. The story is still convoluted, which seems to be a common complaint, but it makes up for it in heart and gameplay. I play this on a One X and seeing the visuals in true 4K is absolutely breathtaking. The Tangled material looked just as good as the film release. Absolutely recommend for long-time fans and newcomers just looking for lighter fare.

The game play and combat was as a fun as I can remember, however, the rides seemed pretty gimmicky. The story over all felt a bit underwhelming and like the game was pushed out as quickly as possible rather than a work in progress for over 10 years. The worlds were pretty good and graphics looked great, but it just seemed to lack content. Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 I put in close to 80 hours per game, this one, I barely put in half of that. Could have used more secret bosses and The Coliseum like previous titles. Also, the lack of Square Enix characters made me sad. Still, it's worth playing because it's Kingdom freaking Hearts and I did enjoy the little time I had, especially Toy Story World.

This is a welcome addition to the series - for newcomers and old players alike. If you played the previous versions of the game, you'll feel right at home. It's a beautiful game with great graphics and music. The mechanics are fluid and fights enjoyable and somewhat varied. There's a lot of variety in the game. There are a lot of cut scenes but so far, they have all been interesting. My family will sit there and watch because it's so much like a movie. Overall, an enjoyable game.

Great game! I have been a fan of the KH series since I first played it when I was 7, this is just one more great addition. The combat has been upped (you can now swap between 3 different keyblades mid fight and each keyblade has a special second form/finisher), the worlds are huge, and the game play is fun/ addictive and easy to get the hang of. Nevertheless, unless you want to be confused, I wouldn't recommend this to newcomers without first beefing up on the old lore or playing the old games; because they reference a lot from the previous games with little context. They've lowered the difficulty since KH 2, (save the very final sections of the game) and unless you go on proud mode its downright easy, but it still is wildly entertaining either way. And to anyone who think the graphics are short of great (okay, I believe you), nah man; this thing is beautiful. Some of the animated sections looked on par if not better than their Disney counterparts and the pirates world was weirdly enjoyable (water combat no longer makes me want to kill myself). So I highly recommend this game if you've played all the others. Also, just a heads up, buy at least one potion/ingredient from every moogle you see. He'll give you a postcard after every first purchase and you need a butt-ton of postcards to get Orichalcum+ (needed for the strongest keyblade).

I've been anticipating Kingdom Hearts 3's release since I finished Kingdom Hearts 2 in 2006. Actually, though, Kingdom Hearts 3 is the 13th game in the series - preceded by such titles as 358/2 Days (Three Five Eight Days Over Two) and Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -a fragmentary passage-. The storyline for the series is about as incomprehensible as the titles, with time travel and alternate realities and clones. To tell the truth, if you don't already have the game, you probably won't care about it at all. Which is a shame, because this is the most Kingdom Hearts-y game ever. Each previous game added or changed a game mechanic, and this game brings them all together. There is almost too much to do while in combat, with every flashy attack flowing into the next. One of the most striking aspects of the game is the graphics, especially on the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro. Specifically, when you're with Buzz and Woody from Toy Story, or Rapunzel and Flynn from Tangled, the characters and environments look as good - sometimes even better - than the movies they come from. It's remarkable, and really shows off how far we've come. The writing isn't the best, but the voice acting performances are solid, led by Haley Joel Osment playing the main character, Sora, as he has since the first game. It's funny, sometimes, having characters like Goofy talk about finding a heart in the datascape, or Mickey Mouse in a black cloak threatening monsters with a sword, but that's really what Kingdom Hearts is all about.

I had never played a Kingdom hearts game before, so my only expectation was to play alongside Disney characters. The game does a great job introducing you to the game mechanics gradually instead of inundating you at the beginning. Pros: beautiful game, entertaining fights. Would be great for kids! Great for kids - not graphic at all. Good for any play style - while there's a lot of different things to use in the fight, you can get by just fine with only needing to press a single button really fast! Cons: High number of cut scenes, confusing to jump into the story without background knowledge. DISCLAIMER: the cons listed are not necessarily reasons not to try the game - they were just my personal issues. I had never played Kingdom Hearts before, so I wasn't aware familiar with the play style. For those like me, there are a lot of cut scenes. Like, A LOT. This isn't necessarily a reason not to play, though, as the cut scenes are usually cute / fun / informative. Plus, I'm a Disney Nerd so I enjoyed the way the characters were used. The other issue isn't knowing what is going on for most of the early gameplay. Going from 0 background knowledge to jumping late into the continuing story, I had to do a lot of Googling to learn who was who and what I missed. I haven't finished the game yet, so there might still be future cut scenes that would explain what I don't know.

A so-so installment. Wait for the Final Mix.

I'd give Kingdom Hearts III a generous 5.5/10. Definitely wait for the Final Mix to come before buying this game as it's like FF15, half completed and hella easy. Sure, KH3's graphics and scenery are absolutely stunning. And sure, the music is absolutely amazing! However, beyond that, it's an honest let-down and disappointment in the story/plot, in character development, and in playability. It just feels rushed and uncompleted (ironic for a game 5 years in the making). For starters, Square Enix cut MANY things from the game. Tetsuya Nomura stated that there would be well over 90+ hours of content, when in actuality; it's closer to 35 -45 hours of content. You literally spend 2/3's of the entire game traversing Disney worlds and goofing around which none of it matters in the slightest and doesn't really do anything at all to progress the plot or the characters (Note: you can clearly tell which worlds they spent far more time and resources on than others. Some worlds, only get one tiny little area). On that note, the worlds that people actually wanted to fully explore in all their 4K HD glory were basically reduced to just backgrounds for cut scenes and for the plot (Realm of Darkness, Land of Departure, Keyblade Graveyard, The World That Never Was, The Mysterious Tower, The Final World, Scala ad Caelum, and to a lesser extent, Twilight Town). Then, all the major plot points and major stuff happens quickly and almost back-to-back in the last 1/3 of the game. Before you know it, you're fighting the final boss out of the blue and the game is over. Heroes and Villains fly in and out of the story so quick that you just might miss them if you blink. The reunions of 1) Aqua, Ven, and Terra; and 2) Axel, Roxas, and Xion; are completely rushed and lack any substance or playability. Basically, those characters are brought back at the last minute for fan service and to make sense of the plot before moving on. Hell, don't even get me started on the characters. The dialogue exchange and voice acting is good in certain places, but is often just cringy and awkward. Many of the characters don't even have much of a personality *ahem*. Kairi *ahem*. Speaking of which, the characters: Kairi, Lea, Riku, Aqua, Ventus, Terra, and King Mickey in KH3 are basically weak, useless, and need constant saving. The only exceptions to this are Roxas and Xion who will completely win the fight on their own and heal you without you (the player) having to do anything. In fact, the Disney characters in the worlds you visit are significantly more powerful than the KH3 characters are. Minigames are another problem. Minigames are supposed to be fun and enjoyable challenges that offer additional rewards when added to a game for optional playability. However, that's not the case when multiple minigames are pushed into the main story and are required to progress said story. Furthermore, Square Enix made the game insanely easy, even on hard mode. Fights required little-to-no planning or preparation. I never even died once on hard mode or had to retry an encounter. Going to attractions, I understand that attractions were supposed to be cool and epic, but not when you get like three prompts for an attraction every single bloody fight. It got annoying and boring rather quick. I only used the meals once, in the final battle. I didn't even need to use the meals because everything was too easy. Lastly, the game mechanics are still clearly broken. You can still easily button-mash X/A to win the game. Also, a player can obtain 99 Moogle Post Cards within 1 hour for only 5,000 Munny; they can easily obtain level 99 within an hour; and they can easily and quickly get 999,999 Munny. @@@@@ sighs* Look, it's an okay game. It's fine to like a game and it's fine to dislike a game. There are many people who liked KH3 and many who didn't. It has good and bad qualities. However, you do have to recognize and realize all of its flaws and shortcomings. Because many of us who are long-time hardcore KH fans and who grew up with the series will tell you, KH1 and KH2 are significantly better/longer than KH3.
