    Has one important drawback

I waited to hear the ring of the oven timer when the time was up, but I was right next to it and I only heard a very soft and quick "ping". So there is no way this is useful if you can't hear it enough to know the time is up. I was expecting a loud ring I could hear even from another room. Also, the oven automatically turns off, when the timer goes off, so this is a real problem. There is no way I can use this oven without using a separate timer that actually works. Also, this is minor, but the timer goes off not at the end of the time, but about two minutes before the end. That's not much of a problem, but I would appreciate it if the product description matched the reality. Maybe I have a defective unit. I don't know about that. Before buying this item, you should probably call and ask if the timer rings or pings! I have yet to call and ask about this. I just got this oven last week.

    Best Looking, Best Quality

This is an upper end Toaster oven that looks great and radiates quality unlike other popular brands. The durable stainless front, large stainless handle, and interior features separate this KitchenAid model from the others. After reading previous reviews that were negative regarding this model, I have learned not to trust the opinion of others. This toaster oven toast's beautifully and operates effectively as an oven as well. The 30 minute timer is imperative as a safety feature to turn the oven on and off. None of these units should be operated without auto- shut- down features. Finally, if complimenting your kitchen with stainless appliances has been a recent turn on, then this small appliance will fit right in!

Does not work as well as cheaper brands

The KitchenAid toaster does not toast evenly - the back of a slice of toast gets scorched before the front closest to the glass even starts toasting. It also takes much longer than my antique Black & Decker ever took simply to toast or heat up for baking. The outside of the oven also gets much hotter than my old Black & Decker did. And the inside doesn't fit a standard half-size cookie sheet, which means your only choice is to use the accessories that come with the toaster oven. I'm going back to the much cheaper though not as nice looking Black & Decker.

My unit is just over one year old. We use it for toast and small things like egg rolls. I went to use the unit this morning and the function knob broke. Looks like the switch locked up. I called Kitchen Aid and nothing can be done. I went on the web and see other having the same issue or others. By the way my unit has been used about 12 to 15 times total and looks like new. I know the unit is nice looking and Kitchen Aid "should" make a good product but NO.
