    For this particular unit, terrible. It blew up on it's third use. It was installed. I used it two times to reheat food. On the third use, blue sparks flew and it made a horrible grinding noise and stopped working.

    I purchased this convection/microwave oven and paid to have Best Buy install it. It was money well spent and the procedure I was given was exactly as promised: I received a call the night before confirming my appointment and giving me a 4 hour window, the day of installation the technician called to let me know how long before he arrived and he arrived right on time. He was knowledgeable, efficient and polite. Now for the appliance: first of all it looks beautiful, but that aside it performs exactly as promised and offers everything I was looking for. The interior is large enough to accommodate a 12" x 17" baking sheet with room to spare making it possible to cook for my whole family. On convection, it is quiet and bakes perfectly every time. My range oven takes forever to heat up and makes the kitchen so hot that I may never use it again as long as I have this great appliance.

    4.5 Years - Still Going Strong

    I was reminded of our purchase when I went to look at the warranty page for a modem. We purchased this microwave on 03/26/2017, today is 9/20/21, just over 4.5 years ago. This microwave has been used almost daily, several times a day and has worked perfectly, without issue (2 adults + 2 kids) We've used the oven feature a few times, but mostly its used for the microwave. It's large, quiet, and overall does a great job. I would highly recommend this microwave. Here's hoping we get another 4.5 years out of it!

    Beside the fact that is just a microwave, the hood is not working properly, we have so much condensation that is ruining all my cabinets around it.

    Door failed after only 2 1/2 yrs.

    Main area of concern is the door failed after 2 1/2 years of light use (meaning no children). The plastic interior of the door developed a crack where it appears to have failed through normal wear and tear and so the door no longer closes properly. We've used the convection oven feature maybe once or twice only. Other than the door failing, the microwave works great. One note is that the keys don't light up in darkness, so you have to turn on the kitchen light to see which keys to press to operate the microwave. Another very minor point is that to turn off the fan, you have to cycle through all the fan speeds rather than just being able turn the fan off with one touch. An improvement would be custom keys for commonly used functions so you don't have to wade through the menu each time. For example, Custom1 could be set to Oatmeal, Custom2 to warm up water for coffee, and so on. Considering how advanced so-called "smart" appliances have come, this microwave is in the Dark Ages. At this price point some at least minor programming ought to be available as well as a phone app to tell you when your meal has finished cooking.

    Solid build, elegant display, QUIET operation!

    Rating is based on the unit being only one day old and I haven't yet 'tested' all of the neat features KitchenAid has promised in this Microwave/Convection oven combo unit. I purchased this Over the Range (OTR) microwave as a replacement to a high-end Electrolux OTR. I installed the unit myself and the installation was straightforward with clear instructions (note: I've installed many OTR's, if you haven't installed one before, I suggest having it done by a pro). The digital display is super elegant - way cleaner text on the display than most appliances. The killer thing about this microwave is how quiet it is. The door closes quietly (even when the kids 'slam' the door like kids can be known to do), the microwave cooking operation is SUPER quiet, and the exhaust fan (mine is set up to be vented internally) is significantly quieter than my old unit. This unit has a six speed fan, and on high it is about 50% quieter than the old unit on high. The halogen cook-top lights are bright, centered both front-to-back and left-to-right which effectively illuminates the entire cook-top with no shadows like my old unit (it had the light very near to the front of the cook-top casting shadows to pots on the rear burners). After installing I did the 'amount of time to boil a cup of water' and it performed fantastically - about two and a half minutes. I am looking forward to testing out the Popcorn setting. I think I read somewhere before purchasing (maybe KitchenAid website?) that it monitors the popping sound to determine when the popcorn is done (amazing technology if that's actually the case - and exactly what the micro-popcorn package instructions tell you to do). A few other features I'm looking forward to using are the convection oven (cooks like a regular oven, so one more oven with additional space for prepping holiday meals!) and the Steamer function (which will hopefully allow me to free up some cabinet space by replacing my stand-alone steamer). Overall, this seems like a really solidly built unit, with quiet operation, and lots of nifty cooking solutions.

    I hate Kitchen Aid. Both dishwasher and microwave died in two years. Cost to fix is 75% of purchase price. Buy American, and they ssccrreweww you.

    This Microwave is pretty big for an above range microwave. The door is a full 30 inches wide and the microwave is 17 in deep. The large size has not been an issue for us, but does take some getting used to. It heats food slightly more slowly, but more evenly, than most microwaves. The front of the control panel does tend to get finger prints, but it cleans up easy. The hood vent works great and has three options for installation (in room, into wall, into ceiling). Very nice stainless inside. Looks great all around!

    Great features and performance. The low control panel provides easy access for kids. You may want to note the manufacture date of your unit. Mine is Oct. 2014 purchased 12-29-2022, but it was 50% off.
