Needs more information
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product came with a 4 page instruction booklet. It says at one point to not put metal in the oven, but then says you use a metal rack to bake with convection. It has not instruction how to use the convection oven, but shows a picture of using the rack with a tray under it (not included). It doesn't say what kind of tray, only that you can buy one from Kitchenaid. Still trying to figure it out. Customer Service was absolutely now help at all.

Posted .Hello DFertig, for this model metal bakeware may be used only during convection (bake)
cycles. Use ovenproof, microwave-safe cookware for all other
convection and combination cycles.
We hope this helps.

Cheap Plastic crumbling after 2 years BEWARE.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Functionally and aesthetically, this is a high end microwave/oven combo. Unfortunately the materials used in the product do not hold up over time. I just completed a visit from a repair tech who found several parts on my unit had degraded and the plastic was crumbling. The surround for the choke broke when removed, the bracket that holds the door handle had crumbled where fasteners hold the handle on, the fastener points where the glass hold-down tabs screw in were all broken, and the thin plastic piece that cushions the metal door handle against the front glass fell apart in my hands. This part is 15$ for a 1 inch piece of millimeter thick plastic - and you need 2. In order to replace everything that is broken I'd basically need a new door, which is over 200$. I may have gotten a bad batch of plastic or something, but Whirlpool was not interested in supporting any kind of warranty claim, as I am outside of the first year now. KitchenAid is apparently no longer a high-end appliance brand when it comes to materials. I now regret buying all matching appliances for the house because it seems I'm stuck with them for the duration.

Ok for a Microwave but Convection doesnt cook even
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pirchased this when we remodeled our kitchen to replace our countertop convection oven. Thought that having the Microwave Convection combo would be convenient. Had a problem installing because the door comes around the side (unusual for microwaves) so had to adjust the cabinet to fit. Turns out that the microwave works great but the convection oven doesnt really work. The heat comes from the left side. When food is put on the top rack in convection over mode, everything in the right side burns long before the left side is ready. On the bottom, when you leave it to spin on the plate, it comes out fine (though it takes a really long time). But if we try putting in a rectangular pan that cannot spin, again the right side burns while the left side is not cooked (not as bad as the top for some reason).

Great unit horrible manufacturer warranty
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great convection microwave when it works. We had to replace ours after two years of use. For the price it should have been replaced but went out of warranty. Samsung support was a joke. I do recommend this unit but get a 5 yr extended warranty or you will be buying another one at full price.

Not as good as I was thinking it would be
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this microwave March 2020, a couple of months ago there was a fire that was in the inside of the microwave at the top right in the front, I had it looked at and now it has to be replace. I was thinking that kitchenAid was a good brand but my new kitchenaid refrigerator went out a couple of months after buying it and it had to be replace.

Recall to Fix The Door Problems! Please!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Microwave will not recognize when the door is closed. At first it was intermittent but now it won’t recognize when the door is closed which means the microwave is completely useless. KitchenAid is aware of the issue but will not do anything about it. Very disappointed. Look at all the reviews regarding the problems with the door. KitchenAid needs to step up and do the to right thing and fix this problem.

Beautiful and Expensive- Don't do it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this beautiful and expensive appliance to start ordering and upgrading our kitchen. Even though it was expensive, the door sensors went out and there is really no way to fix them. Spent $500, should have spent $100. After going online, most microwaves have door sensor problems at some point, and of course they don't make them easily to replace.

Stay away
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Technician has been in 3 times for the same issue -- the door does not 'register' as closed so the machine will not start. All technicians say this is an issue with the machine.

OPEN/CLOSE DOOR error - unable to use it!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked great for 3 years and now the display shows an open/close door error. We would open and close the door repeatedly and would have to wait sometimes for an hour before the chime and we could use it again. Took it to Best Buy and they said no extended warranty was purchased so need to replace. Called Kitchenaid and they referred us to a technician with bad reviews who will charge us for callout and repair. KitchenAid will not acknowledge that this is product has a defect and should replace/ repair it. WILL DEFINTELY NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT OR KITCHENAID CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Looking to replace our range and will buy another brand.

Slow with heavy door
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the product based on reviews but I am not sure what people loved. This microwave is slow and cumbersome. Door is heavy and bulky, requires good amount of space to open. If I were to do it again, I would save the money and go for Whirlpool (which we previously had).

Worked only 4 years! Do Not Recommend
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do not recommend this! We also thought buying Kitchen Aid was a good idea thinking this will last more than our cheap one, which worked for 12 years! But this one broke in 4 years! Loud noise! Megatron gone it seems! Kitchenaid may be good 20 years back but now, not so sure! Going with Whirlpool! Cheap so wont fel this bad even if it breaks in 5 years!

Died in two years
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got 2 years and 3 months of limited use out of this microwave and then it died. Repairman said parts may take months to come in, and nothing is under warranty now so it’s going to be easier just to buy a new one. I shouldn’t have to buy a new microwave after just a couple of years, especially when I paid this much for it thinking I was getting better quality than most appliances. This happened after my expensive, top-of-the-line Kitchenaid refrigerator went out after just a little over a year. I’m done with Kitchenaid.

Poor quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This appliance is crap. I purchased one 2 years ago and it recently stopped heating. It cost me $130 to have a technician come out and tell me the magnetron needs to be replaced at a cost of $511, which is more than what I paid for it. I guess this 2 year old $500 microwave is going in the trash, and I'm buying a new one. It's unacceptable for a microwave in this price range to only last 2 years. It should tell you something when a manufacturer will only warranty their product for 1 year. No more kitchenaid appliances for me.

corner edge crushed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.just picked up my new micro wave, helped the best buy guy put in my van, had one of my co workers help bring it in the house since its close to 80lbs , unwrapped it and noticed a humongous dent in the corner called best buy and they only gave me 2 options take it back to the store or ship it , really don't know why they cant send one of there trucks pick the piece of garbage up and at the same time drop off a good unit . they should start thinking about better customer relations .. after this won't be going to best buy much totally not satisfied , I do heating and cooling and deal with the public a lot if i treated my customers that way i wouldn't have any customers

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had it for almost 3 years and it just quit working. It appears to work but when its done “working” everything is still frozen or cold. And only a 1-year warranty! Total crap. Have to buy a new microwave now. DON’T waste your money. And the buttons dont light up so you cant see them at night
