The KitchenAid 12-cup Coffee Maker is the first drip coffee maker that I have used at home in many years. I had previously been a devotee of single serve coffee makers but frequently use a drip system at work. This model is definitely a step up from the run-of-the mill with its stylish yet classic onyx and chrome design, pause-and-pour feature, timer for the hot plate with automatic shut-off, dual timers for scheduled brewing, and a removable water tank that allows for easy filling and cleaning. It appears to be solidly constructed and though mostly made of plastic it does not feel “flimsy” or cheap. It can be situated sideways or front facing on your counter to minimize its profile while still allowing access to the needed controls and the carafe. This machine is not just pretty to look at-it actually brews a very good cup of coffee while allowing you to adjust the strength of the brew to suit your personal taste.
Initial use and setup was very simple after reading the quick start guide and instructions which offered several suggestions to make optimal use of this machine. While this coffee maker has all the standard features, my favorite is the permanent metal filter that does not require the use of disposable filters and is eco-friendly. For those who prefer to use a paper filter #4 paper filters are widely available. While I don’t have use for the 12-cup capacity on a daily basis it is great to have that option and makes this a great machine for larger households, workplaces, and for people who consume large amounts of coffee. I am a huge fan of KitchenAid appliances and if this product lives up to the KitchenAid name then I’m sure it will remain in use for a very long time.

I am an avid coffee drinker, and I was a Kuerig fan for many, many years. But I grew tired of having to replace the machine every couple of years. My old commercial grade Kuerig gave up the ghost and I was able to receive this Kitchen Aid.
I am a really big fan of the controls which allows you to brew the grounds based on your taste buds. My wife and I are fans of a “light” or medium brew, while my son likes his strong. This machine allows you to do that.
It has the set time and the machine comes on and when you wake up the coffee is ready. And I had to try the pause-and-pour feature, which I have to be honest, I was a little wary that a mess would ensue. But it does just as it says, which is great for those that are running late and you can’t wait until the entire pot has brewed. I LOVE THIS FEATURE as I too can be an impatient person.
The water tank is easy to remove thanks to the well placed handle. I would suggest you follow the start-up manual and brew a couple of “water only” through the system before your first pot. The filter and coffee area/holder is really easy to access.
The Onyx Black color is very appealing and goes with my wife’s colors in our kitchen. Overall, this is a really good coffee maker and I would highly recommend it.
Only one issue that caused me to give 4 *'s not 5.

The only issue I have with this coffee pot is the trouble getting a new carafe. I had another of this model but broke the carafe. Fortunately I had coverage on it. So got another complete new pot. I tried to get a spare but the only place I can find them is on KitchenAid.com. They finally just got them back in stock.
I do love how easy it is to set up. And the taste is the best ever. I do recommend this pot. But get a spare carafe or you may have to wait for them to come back in stock.
I would recommend this to a friend

This coffee maker looks nice. It’s got a few issues. The tank in the back is removable, but this doesn’t work for me because usually I have to still empty some coffee from the pot so I just fill that up instead of making two trips. This unit uses more grounds and the coffee doesn’t seem strong even on bold. I’m talking 6 scoops 10oz water. Every other one I’ve had it’s 2 to 1. It’s messy to clean up and if you have filters, 8 scoops per 10 oz. It’s large, and the pot itself is large. Hope this helps.

The carafe broke. Looked everywhere for a replacement. Called KitchenAid and was told that the wait time to speak to a rep was 7 hours! Can’t recommend.
Returned, buying a brew station, no carafe!
