After buying a house we were looking for a counter depth refrigerator and opted for Kitchen Aid brand with distinctive handles. Same construction base refrigerator was also for sale as Whirlpool and Frigidaire for the same price, owned by same parent company, so we knew we were not really buying high end Kitchen Aid, just a fridge that looked like one. It is working fine for few weeks now, but on delivery we noted dark green dried up liquid in freezer section. We were assured not to be a defect and left over lubrication. Overall ok, but quite noisy at times. Basically, you get what you pay for. We bought Kitchen Aid look, but overall average fridge for average price.

We bought this fridge for a couple of reasons, but most of all: it was the only French door that can sit tight (less than 1 inch) against the wall, and you can (a) still open the door closest to the wall at a 90-degree angle and (b) still access the drawers conveniently (even if you can't swing both doors all the way open.
The interior is nice, but the divider that comes with the bottom drawer is a bit "flimsy." Overall, the fridge runs quiet and (so far) is great. Serves our needs (a household of two).
NOTE: We had to have the original fridge replaced. The French doors were misaligned (between the bottom and top you could see a V-shaped gap) and the freezer drawer also was hard to fully close. Called Best Buy Customer Service, and they arranged for a replacement fridge (all new) that arrived with doors properly aligned and the bottom freezer moving smoothly.
I noticed that some people have had bad experiences with Best Buy customer service and Geek Squad. Our experience has been excellent with both (and we didn't purchase any extra protection.

So far I love my new refrigerator. Replaced a 17 year old GE profile side by side.
It's a really sharp looking refrigerator and has more space than I anticipated.
My favorite part is the internal water dispenser. Gives the fridge a cleaner look, more like the high end Viking models I lusted after. Only improvement I would make to this feature is having the spout come out a little further. If you love thick walled tervis or yeti cups, you have to be careful of the dribble.
I haven't had any of the ice issues other reviewers mentioned. My only complaint is that the freezer is a tiny bit small.

Working great so far and love the water dispenser inside so easy to fill drink bottles and nothing spills down front of fridge. Lots of space in fridge. The freezer is a bit small but we have a back up freezer so works for us.

I love that the water and ice dispenser is hidden inside. I do not like that the freezer space is so small. The freezer was too cold at recommended temp and was creating freezer burn/icing other items in the refrigerator. I lowered the temp by 1 degree and it's much better. I'm happy with my purchase.

This low profile is a perfect fit. Makes my kitchen look larger because if it .. Great professional chef kitchen appearance .. Love the handles .. Con.. Freezer is not large but with a little organization of frozen foods works well. Overall no problems and a great product.

I like the lighting in the fridge and freezer and the easy to see temp readings for the freezer and fridge. Also have been using the cold filtered water dispenser a lot. There seems to be enough space for the food for a 2-person family in the fridge, but the freezer space is quite small because so much area is taken up by the ice cube storage. I'll look into removing that. The big annoyance, though, is that each time I pull open the freezer drawer the entire unit rolls forward. I don't know if I need to put stops by the wheels or if the installers failed to do something to prevent the movement. Yet another thing to investigate,

This was a replacement for a similar GE fridge that had been making a super loud noise despite being new, and we love this Kitchenaid fridge! Should have ordered this from the start. Perfect size for our 2 person household and honestly would probably be fine for a small family as well as long as you don't store a ton of frozen items. The drawers and containers inside make sense for the most part, and the shelves can be adjusted easily.
It is also SILENT. I work from home right in the next room with an open doorway and can't hear it ever. I can't speak to the icemaker or the integrated water dispenser because we didn't hook those up. Helpful tip about this though - if you are not hooking yours up to the water line either be sure to flip the lever in the ice machine to the off setting. We had an intermittent noise with this fridge that was caused by leaving that on (went away once turned off).
Lastly, not that I would buy a fridge solely for aesthetics, but the handles are nice and it just looks really good. Yes, you will have to wipe fingerprints occasionally, but it isn't egregious and personally we don't mind. Summary - Wirecutter was right; seems like a great fridge.

Perfect French door refrigerator for a smaller family. I love the door open alarm. We have a wall to the right and a counter on the left of the refrigerator and this was one of the only refrigerators that would fit. The bottom freezer holds a surprising amount of frozen foods. Love it!

Great functioning and sleek design. Glad water feature is inside of frig. Handles are very nice..., easy to use. Handles match dishwasher and microwave doors. A beutiful set. Inside frig has plenty of room for lots of food
Easy to reach food cause of the counter depth design....which we needed to be flush with the new cabinets. Highly recommended.

We wanted the cabinet depth to match up with the space in kitchen. We had a standard depth LG before. I expected to just lose roughly 4" of depth (and we wouldn't be forgetting about the things that are hidden way in the back). But this refridgerator is also feels shorter on the inside, we have problems fitting bottles and jars because they are too tall. We have adjusted the shelves to the best compromise, Also, the cubbies in the doors waste space with rounded corners and we can't fit as much in these spaces as we could in our old LG that was exactly the same width and height on the outside, The freezer is also not optimal for space utilization. But it is quiet and perfectly cold, controls and temps are very good. Water dispenser is handy but hard to reach and requires two hands to operate.

Replacement- works great. First ice maker, and kids enjoy getting ice cold water from the inside dispenser. Drawers seem flimsy compared to our 25 yr old model- one bad tug and we could be done for. I like the counter depth- I can see to the back and will be less likely to have mystery food!

Love the look, it fits perfectly between my cabinets. My kitchen looks more spacious. Previously had larger fridge from when I moved, didn’t realize the space it was taking. It is an adjustment since it is smaller. But works great for my family. Love the icemaker in bottom compartment, just added a scooper for the ice. Freezer is definitely smaller, but not a problem for me since I have a chest freezer. I recommend you take a measuring tape when you go shopping for appliances in person to find the perfect fit for you.

This refrigerator is exceeding my high expectations !
This is my first Kitchen Aid appliance and it's exactly what I wanted. I am happy that I intentionally chose this model with no external water or ice. Although this refrigerator is 3 cubic feet smaller tham my old one, the layout and use of space is efficient. This model is sleek, well designed, high quality, gorgeous and quiet . I couldn't be happier !

This refrigerator looks and works great. It’s quiet, efficient and has ample storage. I like the interior water dispenser- all our past fridges with the exterior dispenser broke but this one keeps it simple and maintenance-free. The freezer is a bit small with the ice tray taking up space, but we can still fit everything. Overall, it’s a great product.

Stylish design that is counter depth. Pricier than others but seems better quality so far. Tried a Whirlpool side by side but it was so loud and ran constantly. This kitchen aid runs a normal amount at a low noise level.

WATER FILTER & LINE, DEFECTIVE....PER GEEK SQUAD

We've had this fridge 1 1/2 yrs. We have the ice maker hooked up, but not the drinking water (our choice). You have to change the water filter every 6 mos, so we've changed it twice, now. IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO CHANGE. The old filters do not want to come out easily, and the new filters are hard to screw in. The plastic "case" (as I'm calling it) that holds the water filter (and pulls down to change the filter), was extremely hard to open & then refused to close. We called Best Buy & they transferred us to Geek Squad, and Geek Squad said we were past the one-year warranty and since we didn't purchase a "protection plan" that we were out of luck. They said they could send a Geek Squad tech to the house, but that it would be better to call KitchenAid. We called KitchenAid, told them everything (written above), and they said they could send a KitchenAid tech to the house for a one-time fix it for $500, OR, we could pay $45 per month for one year to have an extended warranty plan. We called back and talked to Geek Squad, and they sent two techs to the house. Those techs pulled the fridge out from the wall, and said that the water line is defective and that we needed a new fridge if we wanted to use the ice maker. We told them no, forget the ice, just turn off the water line. They did that on March 17, 2023, and it's now April 13, 2023 and the water filter is STILL dripping water inside the fridge. We've put a paper towel in the plastic case to catch the dripping. We called our plumber who we've known for years (licensed, bonded, insured, and also does commercial bldgs), and he told us there is nothing wrong with our plumbing or water line, and that the fridge is the problem. We have no had to buy a new fridge. So, we spent $2800 total for this fridge back in Nov. 2023, and have now had to buy a new fridge (different brand, of course). If you buy a major appliance from Best Buy, make sure you buy their protection plan even if you feel it's a waste of money. If we had that protection plan, we would've gotten a new fridge from them. What's extremely offensive and sickening though, is that this expensive $2800 fridge only worked fine for a year & a half, and Best Buy's Customer Service & Geek Squad people had no sympathy, compassion, or even an ounce of concern. They love you to death when you're making a purchase, but once you pay, you are nothing to them. When we told the KitchenAid people that this was crazy that a $2800 fridge would have issues after only a year, the rep was quiet and simply said, "well, tell me what you need from us." DO NOT BUY KITCHEN AID. I know that I've heard that Samsung fridges are the worst, but add KitchenAid to that. Also, the freezer area is very small. You will NOT be able to fit a frozen turkey in there for Thanksgiving. Fitting even a frozen cake is challenging. The stainless steel is not high-quality, either. I had some dish soap on my hand when I opened the fridge, and the dish soap made a mark on the door that is now permanent. I've tried the stainless steel cleaners and used very soft rags, but that Mark is still there. Awful experience. You're buying a "designer name", and not a good appliance.

Nice counter depth. Love having the water and ice dispenser inside the unit. Much cleaner than having it in the door. Plus, there is more room inside when you do not opt for the outside water and ice dispenser.

We have a smallish kitchen and having the counter depth fridge makes everything appear bigger. I love that it has water but it's on the inside fridge looks clean and the ice maker is wonderful! It's a bit smaller than a non-counter depth but things don't get as lost inside because of this so I'm fine with it.
