    Pretty, Not Functioning

    While this refrigerator is beautiful, it is hard for me to notice since it is broken so much of the time. I bought this refrigerator April 2017 because of the beautiful wood inlays. It worked for about 7 months before the drama started. The first time it broke it leaked all over my wood floors and spoiled an entire Thanksgiving dinner. Whirlpool sent out someone to fix it the next week, and I thought that was it. The next time it broke was right before Christmas. Thankfully, we were able to notice it in time to move our food to the garage refrigerator. The third time was the week of June 25, 2018. It was fixed till the following week and worked for 30 hours before breaking on July 4th. I'm pretty sure my number has been flagged by Whirlpool, because when I call now I am on hold for over an hour every time. And today some one from the "executive staff" picked up the phone and hung up on me. I finally convinced the receptionist to put me through to an actual voice mail and I'm awaiting the call to be returned. However, I'm not very hopeful, because I have been waiting on a return call from some one else for 3 days. To my knowledge, no one has a direct line. In summary, I have been without a refrigerator for about two and a half months all together, so far. Have had to wait for the repair people for about 20 total hours, have been on hold or on the phone with Whirlpool for probably 15 total hours. The only good thing to come out of this so far is the extra steps I'm getting in walking to and from my detached garage to get and put up food. Not only can NOT recommend this refrigerator, BUT I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT RECOMMEND WHIRLPOOL AS A COMPANY AND WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM AGAIN. Ironically, the first song on their hold play list is "Run-Around" by Blues Traveler and the second is "Stand by Me". I have read similar reviews to this one. And have even read a petition by someone with a similar experience. I have been told this model has been discontinued.

    DO NOT BUY - TERRIBLE WORKMANSHIP

    I was very excited to buy this expensive, high end KitchenAid. I waited nearly 2 months for delivery since it was a special order. DO NOT BUY. This product has horrible workmanship. #1 - there is adhesive (it is like a form of concrete in its final state, so it is unremovable) in nearly every corner of the doors where the plastic molding meets the stainless steel. It is very visible. #2 - there was the same adhesive along the rubber seal on the top right door. #3 - The doors were uneven. The right door sits about 1.5 millimeter above the left door. It is really annoying to look at as the handles are misaligned. #4 - the top left door's plastic moulding had been smashed/bent inwards. #5 - the freezer door juts out about 2 or 3 millimeters from the surface of the top doors. That may be the design, but it is another small detail that suggests bad workmanship. I returned this fridge as I don't think it is right to spend so much money on something that has all sorts of minor imperfections upon delivery. I even checked out other Kitchenaids at the store, and every single floor model had the same thing - white/yellow adhesive everywhere along the edges. I can only post 2 pics, but I could have posted more than 10 different photos of these examples.

    Worst Experience Ever

    I wanted a whirlpool fridge. Husband wanted all matching appliances so we went with the way more expensive, “Ferrari”/Kitchen Aid as the sales guy called it. Only dislike was water wasn’t cold. A couple weeks later all the lights went out. Best Buy offered to send another fridge. After 2nd fridge was delivered, we noticed doors were hung unevenly, water did not work, and they made a huge dent on the side of the fridge that is most visible. Called Best Buy and they offered to credit us 10% or deliver a new fridge. We opted with new fridge because we don’t want a +$3,500 fridge with a huge dent for the next 10yrs. 3rd fridge was delivered, we wait 24hrs and have our teenage son put food back into our new fridge. We get home from work and notice fridge has not cooled down and our food had to be thrown out. Called Best Buy and we are now awaiting fridge #4 to be delivered. They schedule it 2 weeks out and it cannot be done on a day that works for us! We appreciate the fact that Best Buy was so quick to send a new fridge without us even asking. But, it has been very inconvenient every time we get food in it, we have to remove it and wait 24hrs to put it back in. This is our 4th time taking time off from work and they cannot do it on a Monday!!! After reading all of these reviews about kitchen aid, I am afraid we will be getting a 5th fridge! This time it will be my Whirlpool! At least I will have extra money in my pocket! What a huge disappointment!!!

    Unreliable - Do no purchase

    Within two weeks or purchase, the ice maker leaked water in and outside the refrigerator. I visited Best Buy at 17 days after purchase and was told I could not exchange it for a version with the icemaker in the freezer because I was 2 days past my 15-day exchange period. Within a couple months the icemaker completely failed. Service has been out twice, and it is still not repaired. The entire door must now be replaced to fix the icemaker. As am an electrical engineer. I saw the cause of the original failure (wires for a heating element were held up by tape, which failed, causing the ice tray’s motion to break these now unrestrained wires). I also observed the attempted repair, which was unsuccessful because there was no practical way to replace the bad part. I lost confidence in the product. I am also tired of losing time for work every time there is a service call. I will not be willing to replace the door when the icemaker fails outside of the warrantee period. I again contacted Best Buy and Kitchenaid politely asking to exchange the refrigerator for a Kitchenaid model with the icemaker in the freezer. They refused. Bottom line. As an engineer I was skeptical of the complexity of the icemaker in the door of the refrigerator section, and my fears appear to be justified with this Kitchenaid model. Do not expect support from Kitchenaid or Best Buy beyond what is their written policy. Expect icemaker failures.

    We purchased this refrigerator from Pacific Sales as part of a complete kitchen. It was the only appliance to be back ordered, purchased in March and did not arrive until the end of August. After reading tons of not-so-glowing reviews on this style of refrigerator, we took a chance on this one. It is about 7 months later and the repairman just left. Getting used to a counter depth frig has been a challenge. It is smaller than our old one which I am glad we kept for overflow freezer space. There is not much flexible space for tall containers, the ice maker doesn't make a lot of ice, the cubes are quit smalll, and things constantly sit on the edge of the shelves. I like the produce bins as things stay fresh. I like the meat drawer. The grands spilt milk and juice inside and while it was wiped up, it leaked all under the shelves and was a mess. I was embarrassed that the repairman saw it so dirty and cleaned it up while he had it apart. I am very disappointed in the freezer. If I ever have opportunity to buy new appliances again, they will not be stainless steel. It looks nice, but just isn't practical. It dents and scratches easily. For the price of this appliance, I expected much, much more in quality. You will just have to take you right chances. Maybe you will be luckier than we were.

    Not working !

    Our fridge was delivered on April 22nd. Stopped working by May 31st. Both the fridge and the freezer stopped working. The compressor started making loud noises (like a distant train horn) Called up KitchenAid and they assigned a local service tech to come and repair. After a 5 day wait, the service tech showed up, said 2 control panels were not working and ordered them. Kitchen-Aid showed absolutely no urgency to ship these panels. They arrived after 10 days.The service tech came again, replaced the panels but the fridge did not work. Case of operation successful but patient dead ! It's been 3 weeks now and we still don't have a working fridge. I paid $3500 for this piece of lemon.

I've had the KRFC604FSS KITCHENAID 36” FRENCH DOOR REFRIGERATOR since Jan 1, 2017, and given Kitchen Aid many chances to repair issues, but they just keep sending technicians who no only can't repair the first issue, but discover something else broken . I've NEVER written a review before, but, this is BRAND NEW and is an essential appliance. I've tried hard to get KITCHENAID to replace this clearly defective refrigerator. Not asking for ANYTHING better than what I bought a few months ago.

    Wow! I never thought I could get so excited over a kitchen appliance! This fridge replaced my 14 year old Kitchen Aid side by side, which was still running fine but I wanted to replace the old black appliances with stainless. It is beautiful inside and out and I cannot believe the amount of space I have gained. The shelves, bins and drawers provide so much more efficient storage than the old unit. The French door style makes it so easy to see everything at first glance. Freezer space is nicely designed. Love the small ice cubes and water dispenser on the door too!

    Very nice refrigerator but pricey. Drawers are slow closing drawers. The ice maker is small and compact but if you're a family that uses a lot of ice, this may not be a good option. Freezer is small to make room for the refrigerator. LED lights help illuminate the refrigerator really well. Lots of storage space with door shelves. Originally refrigerator was defective and took 2 weeks to replace...otherwise would have given 5 stars. So far, the refrigerator has been great.

    This fridge is awesome! It stays really cold even when doors are being constantly opened (those with hungry teenagers understand lol). We LOVE the ice cubes too. They are small and don't melt fast. Our drinks stay iced for a few hours. Our old fridge ice cubes would melt within 10 mins. Only con is we can't fit as much in it since it's counter depth but that's not a deal breaker for us. It just means our food doesn't go to waste since we can see it and it's not buried in the back of fridge/freezer.

    This refrigerator will impress you with its design. I love the space with the ice maker in the door. Led lighting the dims and easy access to the digital controls on the door are much appreciated. Lastly, take a look at the hinge design on the doors- this model doesn’t require a wider opening like most French door designs. I had a Samsung first that the doors kept hitting my countertop since they were so thick and the hinge was poorly designed.

    Not only does this refrigerator hold a lot of food, everything is easily accessible. The heights of the shelves are adjustable so you can customize your spaces as they change, too. If you read the user manual it will answer any questions you may have. Be careful to gently pull away the protective plastic from the edges when you unveil the new refrigerator so you don't end up with frayed plastic around the edges as it was a problem for one reviewer. Really nice refrigerator overall!

    I love the fridge, but struggle with paying almost $4,000 for it. It is counter-depth which drove the price up considerably, and I understand these might be a bit more expensive than other fridges but not sure it should be that much. Anyway, I think it will be a great fridge for us, hopefully for many years to come.

    I've never been more disappointed in an appliance, In less than 5 months there have been 8 service calls for malfunctions requiring multiple visits for recurring same issues. Ice maker quit working, water dispenser quit, refrigerator quit cooling.
