    Dishwasher that finally cleans

This dishwasher works - it is very quiet, but most importantly, it actually cleans dishes, pots and pans, glassware, stainless ware, plastic containers, everything I have placed in it. (Even my plastic containers are coming out noticeably cleaner with each wash.) And this dishwasher actually dries my dishes. Glasses come out sparkling - no spots or residue. I do rinse items before I place them in the dishwasher. But no longer do I have to thoroughly hand wash them before and then sometimes after. And I do not have to use a chemical drying agent to get clean and dry dishes. (I must note this dishwasher manufacturer recommends use of drying agents; but my experience with this product is that I don’t need them to get the excellent results I am getting.) I replaced a 2012 Bosh which was so disappointing as it neither cleaned nor dried the dishes. I had to thoroughly hand wash everything then use the dishwasher to “sanitize”. I do not like to use the chemical drying agents which were a must with my old Bosh - and the drying agent always left a noticeable residue that I could see and others could taste. Perhaps drying agents are not an issue; but why should we have to use extra chemicals for our dishes? Shouldn’t soap and water be enough? (I must add that I also have another Bosh dishwasher in the basement which is older, somewhat noisy, uses lots of water - not high efficiency - but really cleans the dishes - and they come out nearly dry - without using a chemical drying agent.) On my new dishwasher, I have used most of the cycle choices. I have found the pro wash cycle, the normal soil cycle, pro dry with extended pro dry, to scrub, high-temp wash and Sani rinse to produce excellent results. My combinations generally take 4 hours so I run overnight. I have also used the express wash with pro dry which takes about one and a half hours. Dishes have come out clean but there is still some water left on the tops of items in the upper rack and on all plastic items. I also highly compliment Best Buy on their customer service. I used their website for the purchase. I followed up by phone with my concerns over whether it would fit my space. They sent a team out to measure and set my mind at ease. The delivery and installation was very smooth by a completely professional and personable technician without any issues. I did purchase the extended warranty offered by Best Buy as I have read that this manufacturer has had QC issues with these products.

Great Dishwasher - Champ at Drying

We did a lot of research and purchased this dishwasher because it was highly rated in a consumer magazine. We would have liked to get one with the third rack, but this was the only one that had a flat front (no bar handle), fingerprint resistant stainless steel exterior (important for us), extended pro dry and self cleaning filter. We have been using it for 9 months and are very satisfied with it's performance. It is very quiet. You really have to listen to tell that it is running. It does an excellent job at cleaning. We do not pre-rinse and the dishes, glasses and silverware come out sparkling. Most importantly, it dries better than any dishwasher we have owned. Plastic cups and containers come out totally dry. The only place water collects is in the rim of lids and in the bottom of some glasses and mugs but even then, not much as compared with other dishwashers. Most of our glasses don't even have water collect there. Emptying the dishwasher takes so much less time since there is almost no hand drying required. It is amazing as compared to our last dishwasher that required plastic items to be dried with a towel. The fingerprint resistant stainless finish is a great feature and looks good with only occasional cleaning. The prowash cycle takes a few hours to run, but we usually run it at night so it is not an issue for us. There is an express wash cycle which we occasionally use if we have lots of dishes from a party and it cleans well. I wondered about this feature as to how it could wash the dishes as well as the normal cycle, but I read in the instruction manual that it is able to clean the dishes as well by using more water and energy, which makes sense. The only drawback we have found with this dishwasher is that it is easy to accidentally activate the controls when opening and closing the door. It won't turn on unless you press start and close the door within 4 seconds, but the display will flash until you press cancel. This is truly a great dishwasher.

Dishwasher - Good, Install & Support - Terrible

First, the dishwasher: As others have mentioned, this dishwasher is very quiet. So quiet that I've bent over and put my ear next to it to make sure it was running (it was). It gets the dishes clean and dry with no spots or streaks. Cycle times are long. 2 1/2 hours just for a normal wash and dry with no options. Over three hours for other cycles and options. All dishwashwer manufacturers these days seem to focus on how many "place settings" you can get into the dishwasher. They seem to have not given much consideration to the pots and pans and utensils that go along with making a meal. Next, the install: When we bought this dishwasher in the Best Buy store, I asked what the $29.99 "installation kit" that they added to my order was. The salesman said it was a hose to hookup the water supply and a cord to plug it in the wall. I told him that my dishwaser was direct wired to my house and was connected to the water via copper tubing and that I wanted my new dishwasher installed the same way. No problem, he said, and he deleted the "installation kit". When they arrived to install my new dishwasher the installer asked if I had the installation kit. I explained the situation to him and he replied that they're "not allowed" to install it the way I wanted it done. I called the store and spoke to the salesman. Long story short, the salesman made a mistake and admitted he did, in that they will only install a dishwasher using a hose (which, BTW, needs to be replaced every five years) and a plug-in cord. The bottom line was, the salesman made a promise to the customer that he could not keep and Best Buy refused to make things right. I suggested they hire a plumber to do the install. They refused. I suggested I hire a plumber to do the work and Best Buy could reimburse me. They refused. In fact, they outright refused to do anythingn at all to make it right and too bad for me. I installed the dishwasher myself. Finally, KitchenAid support: A "condensed User Guide" is provided with the dishwasher. It directs you to a URL to obtain the "Complete User Instructions". The URL is broken (HTTP Error 404 - Not Found). I called the 800 support number. After 30 minutes on hold the woman was unable to locate the "Complete User Instructions". Too bad for me. Then I asked her why there was a single blinking light on the front of my dishwasher. She had no idea and put me on hold while she tried to find out. After 20 minutes on hold, I hung up. To wrap this up, I won't be shopping at Best Buy again and I probably won't buy a KitchenAid appliance again.

I am extremely disappointed with my new dishwasher. After reading extensive reviews, I decided on the top of the line Kitchen Aide dishwasher. We replaced a Bosch dishwasher the had served us well for many years. I decided not to go with another Bosch due to the drying system, and my dishes always had to be hand dried with the Bosch. The Kitchen Aide dishwasher looks sleek, and it is exceptionally quiet. The racks are easy to load. and it has a huge amount of storage. The negatives are the detergent storage seems very cheap. I would expect this dishwasher to last a long time, but the detergent storage feels like it will fall off in you hand. The dishes in this dishwasher stilll have water on them at the end of the cycle. If i wanted to hand dry my dishes, I would have not bought such an expensive dishwasher. The dishes also seem clean, but they never smell clean. I would purchase a moderate range dishwasher for half of the price. This dishwasher has not met my expectations nor justified the price.

This is another purchase for our remodel. This is the first I have read the booklet on how to use the dishwasher. I'm glad I did. I didn't want another useless dishwasher, but I was told (by many people) that it does help sell a home. People want a dishwasher, grrr. So I reluctantly purchased this one at the recommendation of the rep., read the instructions, and I love it. It works! I don't think I have ever had or used a dishwasher that worked before. I know longer wash the dishes before I wash the dishes! Oh and I love the top rack! This has three racks. I use them all. I have a family of three. When my dishwasher doesn't seem full, I will pick up knickknacks (vases, utensil holder, toothbrush holder) around the house and toss them in! Stuff always needs cleaning. I utilize that top rack for all delicate items such as rubberized utensils, lids, my all steel knives that aren't to go in there at all. There isn't a whole lot of room on the top rack as it sits high up there. We absolutely love it. My dishes come out DRY and clean. READ the manual. I am glad I did.

We've had this dishwasher for a few months now, and so far it has been great. The most noteworthy benefit is that it is really, really quiet. So much in-fact that we barely hear it running and sometimes have to check to see if it really on and is washing the dishes. We had a Bosch before this which was also quiet and we thought a dishwasher could not get any more quiet until we got this KitchenAid! Of course the most important aspect of any dishwasher is whether the dishes come-out clean or not, and this KitchenAid does a great job at that as well. We have placed all sort of dishes, utensils, pots and pans in this thing, and they all have come-out spotless. As for the drying, it does a fair job, I would say about as good as the Bosch we had which was known to dry the dishes well. Overall, I would recommend this dishwasher.

To be fair, our old dishwasher sounded like a freight train. This model is so quiet, I literally have to put my ear up against it to make sure it's running! It does a very fine job cleaning the dishes and it's ProScrub feature cleaned a very baked on lasagna pan beautifully! I HIGHLY encourage you to read the User Manual that comes with it as it has some very helpful tips how to load the unit to get the maximum cleaning benefit from it. On the downside... it is a little small for a family of four and the racks are not that adjustable. We used to be able to fill the dishwasher with four meals of dishes and now, it's only about three meals. Still, my family and I are VERY impressed with this model!

Did a lot of research before buying. This is a fantastic dishwasher. Dishes come out sparkling clean when used with a rinse aid as recommended. Sitting 10 feet away, you can’t hear it running. Top display shows total time remaining, while front display shows current cycle. Dries dishes very effectively even without using the Pro Wash cycle with fan, and just using the heat dry cycle. When using the Pro Dry cycle, do not open the door as soon as the cycle ends; the dishes will be extremely hot. Let them sit with the door cracked open to let them cool for a few minutes. This dishwasher received a better rating than Bosch washers from Consumer Reports.

Like many, I read over 100 reviews of numerous dishwashers before buying this one. We love it! So many options from quick wash to power wash, easy to select your choice, quiet, sleek and so easy to wipe off the fingerprints that do show. Admittedly, my search began with a few that were priced lower, but when I factored in the "free installation " from Kitchenaid, and consider the great reviews, I know now that the few extra dollars were worth! You'll be very happy in all respects with this unit. (We kind of miss the handle of our old dishwasher to hang the dishtowel on, but the sleekness of the recessed handle is worth the trade off.)

Easy to load, holds most anything, super quiet. The efficient mode is somewhat slow (3 hours?) but the quick wash I think uses more water and works well and is quite quick with cycle time more like our old builder-grade dishwasher. Heated Pro Dry burninates dishes pretty dry (don’t burn your hands though, metal and glass get hot!) We didn’t want to deal with cleaning a filter, so far the self clean filter seems to work well enough. Got a good price on sale at Best Buy too. Had about 6-8 months, probably run 200+ loads so far. Time will tell if premium was worth it, but so far satisfied.

What a week! Shopping for new appliances is not my cup of tea and am Thrilled with my new Kitchen Aid Dishwasher and the total quietness leaves me checking the front panel to see it IS washing!!! No more clanking dishes and noise what so ever! So far so good. I did learn one thing...the first load was wet? Not happy! Read the instructions is helpful, now using the drying feature we have clean and dry dishes... I'm sure I have more to learn...and we opted out of the handle so our swinging monkey grandkids....can't!

This is not our first kitchen aid dishwasher. Our first one was in the 1980s through the years and different houses we had other brands that were ok but not as good as the kitchen aid we had. We replaced our old whirlpool with a kitchen aid 3 years ago. It was great but the controls were on the front and if we didn’t lock it we would turn it on reaching over the counter. We recently moved again and had to replace a Maytag. We made sure to chose a kitchen aid with controls that were on the top of the door. Does a great job it does take 3 hours but everything comes out clean on the “pro wash “ setting

The Good: we can put bowls on the bottom rack as well as the top. we tend to use a lot of glasses, so the top rack fills up. Extremely quiet. Cleans dirty dishes well. The Not So Good: the tray in the back of the top rack takes up space. did not clean some knives that were in there. A part on the top rack that controls the changing of the position of the tines fell off. No instructions on how to put it back on. I had to go to YouTube and watch several videos, not how to reapply it but rather how it looks on the rack. Then, we were able to fix it. Bottom line, we love this dishwasher.

It's soooo quiet and the dishes are dry at the end of the cycle! I just press the ProSense cycle and start buttons then close the door. You can't hear it while it's running even when you're standing right beside it. The dishes come out clean and dry. The only downside and the reason for 4-stars is the cycle runtime. It's not specific to this dishwasher. I knew the cycles would be long and I can live with it. You just have to be prepared for it. It's worth the wait to have the end result.

Bought this KitchenAid dishwasher to replace a 1999 KitchenAid that ran well up to this year. Heard stories about newer dishwashers not drying well, and had direct experience with poor drying with Bosch dishwasher. Selected this model based on consumer magazine that gave it an excellent rating for drying without a drying agent. It is doing an excellent job washing and drying. Only complaint is the silly display on the door edge that cannot be read with the door closed. Who designed that?

Maybe it's early to write a review , so i will keep it updated as we go. it cleans really well compered to our old LG. also very very quite and drying also great. i think space of the lower rack is not well designed at least for our loads. , we have to lose some space if we have bowls. it's good for flat dishes but not bowls. we tried different adjustable configurations on the rack but still we see waste of space. otherwise , we are very happy with this dishwasher sofar

We like this unit. We got it when our last unit died. It is very, very quiet. Even when standing right next to it we can hardly hear it running. My only complaint is that I do not like the controls along the top edge of the drawer, I would prefer to have them on the front, but I guess that's the rage now. I keep pushing buttons when opening and closing so it wants to start. It does a good job, though, at getting the dishes clean, which is the main thing.

So far, I’m not real impressed with it. Doesn’t seem to be cleaning my dishes as well as my old one I had for 10 years. They seem to have a film on them that doesn’t seem to come off even washing them a second time. I finally ran a cycle with Afreash, a dishwasher cleaner, and hope that will help. Plus the chrome tub never seems to be clean. It’s hard to feel like your dishes are clean if the dishwasher itself doesn’t look clean.

Got this very expensive dishwasher on April 19, 2019. From the first wash this dishwasher smells like rotting garbage. I have used all the cleaners that Kitchenaid asked me to use and had a tech person come out. He agreed with me that the dishwasher smells but could not find a reason. Going to have to go to Best Buy and see about returning it - cannot live with this for the next 8-10 years!

So far we love this dishwasher. It is very effective cleaning all your dishes, pots, pans, etc. Qiet. Cleaning cyclle takes a long time. Two or more hours. Has not been a problem so far and have not used the quick cycle. LOVE the heated drying. Dishes come out spotless. Do not like the silverware location. You have to pull out the bottom tray to put any silverware in. Would have preferred it be on the door or across front of bottom tray. Not a deal killer though.
