Top of the Line, Quality & Quiet

We have had this dishwasher for a little over 3 months. It is much quieter than we expected. The ONLY sounds are when the cycles change, you might hear a soft 'swooshing' sound. You need to put your ear right next to it to tell if it is running. Ultra Quiet and yet it still does an excellent job getting the dishes clean. The cycle is fairly long, maybe a couple or 3 hours until done. We usually use the ProWash cycle without the heated ProDry (air dry only). We have soft water and still use the rinse aid (on lowest setting), glasses and crystal comes out spot free. We are in the habit of rinsing off the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher, especially when they sit for a couple days while we get enough to run a full load. Several times after a large meal with guests, we have loaded all the dishes without pre-rinsing and they still come out clean. We have been using a liquid gel detergent and it works great. The 3rd top shelf is a really nice feature, great place to put knives and odd shaped utensils. The silverware holder has slots which keep the spoons separated so they don't hide food like when stacked in normal dishwasher trays. I have heard many stories of other much more expensive dishwashers which are supposedly very quiet, but they do not clean your dishes. This KitchenAid is wonderful. We have wanted to get a top of the line QUIET dishwasher in stainless steel for a long time. Now we have just finished upgrading all our appliances in our kitchen, this one matches the other quality appliances we now have! We don't have to turn up the TV or radio when this dishwasher is running. We can also talk on the phone or have a conversation with others in the kitchen. You will not know this is running, except for the blue LED light while washing, red LED light while heated drying, green LED light for air drying or when done.

We purchased several appliances on the same day and were able to special order this KUDE60HXSS. We were originally going to get maybe an Asko or perhaps a Miele from an independent dealer. However, our salesperson made us a GREAT deal on this appliance. Putting us just slightly over the $1000 budget we'd originally intended to pay. On the Kitchen Aids, we were a bit disappointed as we compared them to our old Kenmore as, other than being Stainless Steel, they didn't appear to be much different in design or features. Our Kenmore stopped cleaning well so we about to skip another Whirlpool dishwasher (Whirlpool is parent company of Kitchenaid, Kenmore, Maytag, JennAir etc.). We like this one because it has the third culinary rack up top, plus it uses a filter. It's been my experience that a DW with a disposer is inferior as it just chews the food up before regurgitating it back into the wash cycle. Just the other day, we found a used bandaid in the filter of our new DW. Apparently it got in there as my wife was loading dishes. Pretty gross, right? Imagine if we didn't have a filter and it had gone right into the impeller? So, it was easy enough to pull it off the filter and just re-run the DW (probably not necessary, no, but it's kind of skeevy to think about a bandaid floating around in your dish water, right?). :) The Pro Wash and Pro Dry work great. Everything is coming out sparkling clean. The LED indicator on the front is very handy. This DW is VERY quiet so to have the LED show blue when washing, red when drying and green when done is handy. Did I mention it's quiet? :) I don't know that I'd pay $1400 or $1600 for it as you'll find many places. Might as well go with a Miele or Asko (if the capacity and rack layout works for you) at that price point. But it's a very, very nice DW. I'd buy it again for what we paid for it. Oh, it was special ordered so it took a couple of weeks to be delivered.

I've had my new Kitchen Aid dishwasher for a little over 2 months now & I really like it. It does a superior job on cleaning a very full load, but also can be run on top rack only cycle (less water usage, etc.). I love the removable 3rd rack as I can put my chef knives up there instead of hand washing them. I also like the tall tub & the capacity of this model - I looked at Bosch & they were too small for our needs. This also seems to have more adjustable features. The clips to hold plastic lids, etc. are genius - no more melted items! The glide action on the racks is great even when fully loaded. I usually use the pro wash cycle & it dries great, even plastics. I think the stainless steel tub helps as it retains heat. I like the other cycles as well - including a light/china one. Like another reviewer, I haven't closed the covers on the utensil basket, but if others like it, it certainly doesn't impact one's ability to load them if open. VERY quiet - I can watch TV in the kitchen while it's running with no probelm. The look is very sleek with the top/hidden controls & beautiful stainless front with chrome handle. Yes, it does show finger prints some, but there are some polishes that repel them (mostly with mineral oil) or just pick up a dish towel to help open & close. Otherwise, you will probably need to wipe it once a week. Yes, this cost more than some of the other DWs , but Best Buy did offer a good sale & I had some reward certificates also so feel fine about the price paid given the thought that appears to have gone into it's design & some of the features it has. I would buy it again - we've had a Kitchen Aid oven/microwave & also cooktop for 10 years with no issues so I'm hoping this will have the same reliability, Highly recommended overall!

    Amazing, Quiet Dishwasher

I looked at every DW from Miele to Bosch and decided thawt this was the best one for me. I loved the different look and the fact that it is only 43db!! I cannot hear it when walking through the room and have to look at the lights to see if it is on. It does a great job of washing and dryiing as well. And I love the third utensil tray. It also has all of the washing features I wanted. Oh, and it definitely felt more solid than those other brands. I installed it myself and was impressed with the sound proofing and component quality. I don't see how you can be disappointed with this DW.

So I am redoing my kitchen in two months and my old dw died. I plan on putting 2 in the new kitchen so after reading lots of online reviews and consumer reports I ended up with this model. The ONLY complaint I have is that it does not have the hard food disposer; otherwise I am thrilled. It cleans AND dries - even plastic; it is super quiet; it is easy to load and the third rack is a fabulous feature. The upper rack adjusts up and down super easily and the racks glide out like they are on ball bearings. Very pleased and intend to purchase another. The only thing I wonder is if the top of the line Whirlpool (made by the same company I think) would do the same for alot less money. . . . A thought for those who don't want to break the bank with a $1500+ dw.

buying appliances has never been fun...until i got this! omg. i loooove doing dishes now. it's simply amazing how quiet this dishwasher is! our kitchen is part of an open floor plan to the dining and living areas. we can run a load of dishes while enjoying a dinner party or while watching television and you can't even tell that it's on! on top of that, the performance is superb - cleans and dries impressively well. finally, it looks really great in our kitchen to match our other stainless steel. this dishwasher will make you look forward to doing dishes!

This is an excellent, American-made dishwasher and it's VERY QUIET. It's great to know that buying this dishwasher helped support American workers... it matters. The adjustable top rack & the cutlery tray on the very top give this dishwasher a lot of versatility. On top of that, it has enough different cycles to accommodate virtually any type of dish / cookware job you have. KitchenAid quality is still there. I don't work for Whirlpool / KitchenAid and never have, but we've owned three KitchenAid dishwashers and have never really worn one out.

We initially purchased a Bosch dishwasher because of positive Cinsumer Report ratings. After using the Bosch for a little over a week, we realized the interior capacity was small and our dishes didn't fit. We alders Beat Buy if we could return the Bosch and get this KitchenAid. Glad we did! This washer has nice interior capacity, is flexible with dish sizes, has an extra pull out tray, perfect for misc utensils, travel mug tops, etc, AND, is SUPER quiet. Worth the money!!

This is a top of the line dishwasher, and you can tell the difference in every way. The door is much heavier, and you can just barely hear it when it runs. It's a good thing it has an indicator light on the front, or I'd open it while running. It does a great job of cleaning, and has adjustable features that help with odd sized items. It has a slide out 3rd tray at the very top that is good for securing sharp knives out of the way. I'm glad we bought it, and I bet we'll buy another one when we move again.

I love my new dishwasher! I had the older model (With the bar handle) in my old home and wanted the exact same in my new house. The door handle is different and I like the old one better (my husband likes new one). I got this model b/c of the inside and it is awesome. Does a great job with everything and love the third rack- a must!

Because our new home is small, our dishwasher is quite close to our tv watching area. As a consequence, we looked for the quietest dishwasher we could find that would do a good job . This dishwasher more than fills the bill. In addition to being unbelievably quiet, it does an amazing job on any job we have tried so far.

I had higher hopes for a high end dishwasher. Runs nearly silently but does not dry even on PowerDry setting. Have had to re-run a couple of loads that did not clean well enough.. Disappointed it does not have a food chopper drain. It works adequately but I cant recommend because I expect more at this price point ($1400).

I bought a 800 Samsung 9 months ago and it DID NOT clean our dishes totally. It would leave all the glasses with food on them. I opened a kitchen aid for 17 years and switched to the Samsung form9 months and I'm back to the Kitchen Aid. Leaned my lesson the hard way. You do get what you pay for. Remember that. The top 3rd rack is awesome.

We have had this dishwasher for 8 months now. It is super quiet and does a great job getting the dishes clean. One of the indicator lights went out after 6 months and Kitchen Aid repaired it at no charge and it works as good as ever. It is a very nice dishwasher all things considered.

We did our research in Consumer Reports and other consumer publications and had selected this one to replace our 14 year old Kitchenaid that finally died. In entering the Best Buy store we saw it as an open box item at half off the list price. Were we lucky or what?
