Very good value for the dollar

It is perhaps too early to rate this KitchenAid ESS104 because I have only had it a week and have only used it twice. But I will say this . . . PROs: 1. Quiet: Not silent, but incredibly quiet compared to the 25 year old GE that was in the home that I purchased. The floor plan is open concept, and noise bleed from the kitchen into the common areas of the house is almost non-existent. 2. Effective: I purchased the Cascade Platinum and rinse aid as recommended, and the dishes and silverware come out extremely clean and dry/streak-free. 3. Stylish: While I don't care for the red designer "spot" on either side of the handle, overall the unit looks very clean/industrial/professional. I prefer the sturdy looking handle to a slender curved handle, as I find on some appliances those handles tend to come loose over time and require tightening. I also like the control buttons "hidden" on top of the door rather than on the front of the unit. So I like it--although I am the first to admit any styling is subjective. 4. Easy to use: The two racks slide in and out with ease. The top rack easily adjusts up and down to accommodate taller glasses or other items on the upper rack. The silverware rack is long/big, and I like both the position of the rack and the "slots" on the top that allow the user to place individual pieces with slight separation and provide better cleaning. CONs: 1. A filter that will need to be cleaned periodically. 2. No hard food disposer. 2. No third rack. OVERALL: Considering that I only paid $629 and also had free installation to boot (by the way, the installers from BB were fast, courteous, professional, and were in and out of my home within the first time window provided to me) I have to say that I think I purchased a very good dishwasher for the money spent. Is it reasonable to expect a hard food disposer and a 3rd rack for $629? Probably not, unless I am buying it from an outlet store, out of the box/refurbished. A great value, providing that it lasts half as long as the original dishwasher.

    Happy with this choice

Like most consumers I did my research and compared other products and their reviews. I'm very pleased with my selection of dishwasher. What an improvement over our previous dishwasher. Dishes are spotless and clean. It is so quiet I don't even know it's running! I haven't used the ProWash cycle. No need. I love the timer delay feature so I can set it to run during non peak hours. I like how the top rack moves up or down to fit larger items on top or bottom. I definitely recommend this dishwasher!

    Is this thing on?

We had a old washer that was loud, so loud that we can't even hear our tv! After long research we decided to buy Kitchenaide.. it cost more but it worth every penny! When this washer is on I thought it was broken because it was so quiet! If there was only one thing I can complain about is not really the performance of the washer, but the extruding handle.. wish they make one with out the handle bar!

    Quiet & efficient dishwasher

I bought this one to match a new refrigerator, but I checked the reviews first. The 'normal' wash cycle cleans everything, even though it takes me a week or so to fill it with enough dirty dishes for a full load. There are many other wash & dry options that I probably won't use. Only 2 issues: the filling tray for rinse-aid makes it a little hard to see what you're doing, and the stainless steel smudges pretty easily.

This dishwasher is attractive and easy to keep clean. It is easy to load and unload. The instructions are simple and include helpful prompts. My dishes, flatware, and glasses keep getting shinier with each use.

I can not even tell when this is running. It made the one we replaced, which was brand new in new construction home, look like a toy. It is a work horse and cleans awesome.

This dishwasher is quiet and has been a welcome replacement for the Kenmore Elite that cost twice as much. It does a good job cleaning and is attractive to look at.

Don't get your appliances from Best Buy

    |

$1000 dishwasher used once a week for a year before it started gushing water. When i went to Best Buy they refused to help me at all because it'd been installed a year and a week prior in my newly remodeled kitchen. I guess $20 per load is considered to be acceptable before they start causing water damage.

    rock star dishwasher

I've washed all the dishes by hand for the past 20 years, so any dishwasher would have been great, but this KitchenAid has exceeded expectations. Not only do the dishes come out clean and dry every time, they look they are brand new every time. There have been one or two times when a couple of dishes have had a little residue left on them, but that was only when my wife or I really piled dishes on top of each other in the unit to see what it could do.We use the Rinseaid and the soap packets that are recommended, and this baby does a bang-up job every time. I did a lot of research before buying this unit. It was between this and a Bosch, but when this one went on sale, we went ahead and bought it. All we do is scrape off any leftover food into the garbage disposal and put the dishes in the washer. It takes care of the rest. It is very quiet. You can hear it, but it is the soft murmur of water, so it isn't a bother at all. Some people may be put off by the handle that sticks out a ways, but when I tested different washers at the store, the door felt very sturdy when compared to other machines. We use the handle as a towel rack. The controls are easy to use. It has a bunch of different functions, but we just use the normal wash mode, and it works great.

    Serves purpose well.

I bought a Bosch first and although it cleaned fine, the dishes were too wet afterwards and the tines we slanted and couldnt fit tall glasses in well so I returned it and got this and so far so good. It cleans well, dries fine and i almost as quiet as my Bosch was but I never have heard of people buying a dishwasher because of quietness anyway. The Bosch also had a smell after each wash and this does not. Also I read that a lot of people didnt like the handle but it actually looks jazzy in my contemporary kitchen. All in All, I'm satisfied.

    Love it!

Purchased this to replace a Kitchen Aid previous model which I absolutely loved. Love this one just as much. Kitchen Aid is one of the few brands that still offers the coil dry heat element. Other dishwashers require an additional rinse aid to dry. Although this washer has that as an option it is not needed to dry since it uses the heating coil.

    Definitely worth the extra cost

We needed to replace our dishwasher, as the one that was in the home when we moved in had ceased operating. Initially, we had looked into more economical options, different brands that were a little less on the cost. After careful consideration, though, we arrived on the decision of purchasing the KitchenAid dishwasher. Aside from a sturdy build, sleek design, and the steel interior, this dishwasher runs very quiet. Sometimes we forget that it is even running and bare in mind, our kitchen is open to our living room. With our older dishwasher, you could hear it running from down the hall. I also like how the buttons are on the top of the door, so you have this very minimalist look when the dishwasher is shut. I absolutely recommend this dishwasher for anyone looking for a good looking & quiet running unit. As far as the dishes, they have come out looking great consistently for the 3 months we have had the unit.

Weve had this washer now for several years, used every day to wash with the sanitize and heated dry setting on and no mechanical problems and very quiet and cleans very well. A very big upgrade over the Frigidaire washer installed when we bought the house that broke from just routine use. Fortunately the old dishwasher broker over 4th of July so we got the Kitchenaid on a great sale. Small issues: The front door smudges hard from finger prints and food residue that may fall or drip onto the side is very hard to clean on the side of the door. The plastic part that keeps the top tray attached to the sliding rails is super cheap, a tiny piece of plastic holds the entire tray on and it snapped, suprising low quality piece in an otherwise well build and sturdy machine.

    Great Dishwasher

    Posted .

Based on repairman's recommendation & ratings, replaced my dead Jenn Air with a Bosch 500 which had a leaking rinse aid reservoir. Had the reservoir replaced & new one did same. Repair guy suggested replacing the dishwasher. Didn't love the 'air dry' & smell of Bosch, & concerned that another would have same problem. Kitchen Aid & Whirlpool models with comparable ratings were both on my original list. Bought the KA with handle that almost exactly matches my Jenn Air oven handles. Love it! Just as quiet as Bosch, no leaky reservoir, no smell, cleans & dries perfectly, & easy to load! Best Buy, sales associates, & 3 out of 4 install guys were absolutely wonderful through the process! Took a little while, but I'm very happy!

    Kitchen Aid S/S Dishwasher

I visited a number of stores looking for dishwashers before finally purchasing at Best Buy. Their staff was knowledgeable and was not pushy in regards to the sale. They were able to answer most of my questions and didn't try to up sell me. The machine works well and the one bad part of the purchase is finding out after that the dishwasher only took the pods and not liquid detergent. Machine is very quiet and we couldn't tell it was running the first time after we had turned it on. The clean ability of the unit worked out well and it is taking a while of getting used to not haven't to pre rinse and wash dishes so well prior to loading them into the machine. I would also recommend anyone looking to purchase any machine be sure to take a couple pieces of silverware with you to ensure your silverware fits into the slots.

Very quite and the racks slide in and out smoothly. I hesitate because just last night had to restart - the lights flashed and it would not accept the normal setting. I did not get the manual out (should have) just cancelled and restarted - all is well. The dishes are clean, dry and sometimes its hard to tell if the dishwasher is even running its SO quite. BUT what sold me was when I tested the model - the racks slide in and out so evenly - just glided along. NO herky - jerky slinging the dishes around. :)

    Kitchenaid Replacement

    |
    Posted .

I purchased this Kitchenaid knowing that the previous one was not a stellar performer by any stretch of the imagination...even when it was brand new. This current model has noticeable improvements, the best one being the "buttonless" control panel...it's like a touch-screen now....nowhere for the moisture to invade (unlike my previous one which required replacement of all the electronic parts) due to the moisture problem. The dishwasher door feels much lighter than the previous one and the jet-dry compartment doesn't deplete nearly as quickly as I experienced with my other model. No issues with grit which was also a problem in the past even with vigilant cleaning of the filters. I'm really amazed at the spotlessness and cleanliness of the dishes after the pro-wash cycle is run on my new dishwasher. I believe this one deserves the Kitchenaid name on it...I think the previous one was a lemon. Time will tell if it continues to earn the name.

    Cleans well, very quiet

This machine is super quiet and does a great job cleaning. The top drawer is adjustable up/down, but still doesn't raise enough for me to put in my platters in the bottom rack. There's a color indicator on the front (blue for washing, red for drying, white when done), definitely helpful considering there isn't a timer that shows how much longer it needs to go.
