The dishwasher was in perfect condition and installed easily. It is very quiet and easy to use. We looked for several weeks before making this purchase.

New dishwasher was covered in rust on outside and inside of door within 8 months of purchase. Repair person said he sees alot of this because they are using cheaper stainless. Kitchenaid would not replace although under warranty because it is considered "cosmetic"

STAY AWAY FROM KITCHENAID! I am so sorry I purchased this Dishwasher. Rust on a Stainless Steel (supposedly) door because of the Exhaust Vent. After 15 months of use? Of course, KitchenAid is washing their hands of the problem, and will not provide any support. Pathetic. Please do yourself a favor and go with another vender. I would purchase Bosch or Samsung next time.

Incorrect installation by BestBuy led to dishwasher leaking from both sides, causing severe damage to the floor and home

This washer cleans very well and I was very happy with it. It is at my vacation home and when I got here last week, less than one year from the day it was installed, it had rust at exhaust.

This dishwasher does not dry dishes at all. We have tried everything but cannot get it to dry dishes. Water collects on the door and all of the walls.

I would give a 0 start if possible. This dishwasher leaks after 1.5 years and causes bad water damage on my kitchen cabinet and floor. The real problem is that you won't notice the leaking until it is too late.

Very pleased with this model Kitchenaid dishwasher. It was an upgrade from the last Kitchenaid, I really enjoy having the three racks, the top rack for cooking utensils comes in really hand. The second rack is spacious and I love the wine glass holders. Everything is very thought out and well designed and most importantly my dishes come out sparkling clean. I’m using the recommended Finish rinse aid and Finish Powerball detergent packs and my dishes never looked cleaner, glossier or shinier. I have even been able to wash large items like Vitamix Blender pitchers and 40 Oz Stanley cups on the bottom rack, everything fits. Very quiet operation and I love the 2, 4, 8 hour delay so I can run the dishwasher overnight. Only negative would be that the installation was a little more complicated than expected. But overall we are very very happy with it and it looks great too.

First, I've never owned a brand new dishwasher so while I'm absolutely AMAZED by the quietness and cleaning ability I really only have very older models to compare it with.
With that said, this machine is SUPES cool! The three rows, with an adjustable height for the middle row, is ingenious. I frickin LOVE the tippy top row for little items like our [handwash only] chopsticks, kitchen scissors, and small glasses!! When I was researching which machine to buy I thought that top row was a waste but now that I have it, I couldn't imagine spending money on a machine (for myself) that DIDN'T have it. It's worth the extra money whether you buy this model or not, in my opinion.
As a family of 4, I was used to running about 2 loads per day (during COVID & Summertimes) but with this, I rarely have 1 fully packed load. I love that the buttons are hidden and flat, as well as the bright, sleek, tiny indicator light letting me know which part of the cycle it's on.
My only gripes about this aren't really gripes but should be mentioned... with my older model the pods never worked (i'd always find dry bits of pod everywhere) so I've always used liquid / gel. Those types of detergents will not work in this machine. In the first 2 cycles I used the pods that came with the machine and all was well but on the 3rd and 4th I used the liquid / gel and there was a significant difference. Dishes were water spotted, items weren't clean, and residue from the liquid / gel could be seen. However, once I bought pods, all was back to normal. I RARELY see a dish unclean, no dirt or residue left behind, and my glasses are always smooth to the touch (those with old DWs will understand this [gross] struggle). Lastly, because of its energy efficiency, the cycle takes 2.5-3.5 (i can't remember exactly, but I believe it's the latter) hours to complete. This can be an issue if you're having a big party, serving multiple courses, or continuously cooking for extended periods of time...or haven't ran a cycle in a couple of days and your dishes have piled up. ;)
I know it's a lil expensive but it really is an investment in the beauty, sanity, and conformity of your kitchen (i also have the double oven from this line).

I really like it. I have some MINOR complaints. Keep in mind I’m replacing a white ge from the late 80s. We like the third rack. I think the drawer slides seem a little flimsy and junky for an expensive dishwasher. The bottom rack allows dishes to flop around. The old rack held them firmly. The drying is good. Most dishes are completely dry. Typically it’s plastic items that are still wet. The cycle is not as long as people complained about. We have 7 people in our house so we load this dishwasher down and use it more than once a day. I put it on the pro wash setting (which is really nice) and it does a great job. The door closes nicely and it seems solid. I’m a plumber so I’ve seen my share of dishwahers. Just as quiet as any Bosch (I’m not a Bosch appliance fan) and can’t complain about the clean dishes. We use cascade platinum. It’s a solid purchase compared to some of the other dishwashers I’ve seen. Just wish the rack slides were a little heavier duty and bottom rack held the dishes a little more securely.

The KitchenAid KDTM404KPS looks great with a nice clean minimalistic front and no visible controls, and it has a fantastic internal design with a highly useful 3rd rack. However the KitchenAid 2020 dishwasher line has a fatal flaw which may be a may or break for some people, and it's the amount of noise it makes.
After several months and many washes, I unfortunately have to report that the dishwasher is great in all aspects except for the noise level. It looks great, it cleans very well and dries fantastically. The 3rd rack is extremely useful for cups and small items, freeing up a ton of room on the bottom 2 racks. The washing and drying does take a while, on average 3+ hours, however you'll find that pretty much all new dishwashers take an extended amount of time due to the water saving functions. However for all of the great things about this dishwasher, the noise is what almost caused me to return. It's simply loud. While rated at a very quiet 44dB, there is a constant motor noise during the entire wash cycle. It sounds like a very small lawn mower running near the bottom of the unit. The noise reverberates through the room and other rooms in the house. When the washing is taking place, you can hear it on 3 levels of our house.
I've spent a great deal of time trying to determine if the noise is intentional or a defect, and from everything I've learned it's simply how the 2020 KitchenAid dishwashers are designed. This is from speaking from others online with the same model and confirming the issue, as well as contacting KitchenAid to be told that they believe it's just how the new models are. I've spoken to several people who have had service technicians come check out the sound, and even replace parts in an effort to make it quieter but it never gets resolved.
Since we were so satisfied with the design and the cleaning and drying performance, we took matters into our own hands to try and make it better. I installed a good deal of additional insultation around the bottoms of the sides, all underneath the unit as well as behind the kick panel. I added small carpet feet underneath the dishwasher legs to reduce motor vibration on the floor. Essentially I tried to deaden the sound as much as possible. This has made the unit somewhat quieter however not as quiet as many older, louder dishwashers. The photos attached are of the additional insulation.
Any reviews that you may read on here or other sites that claim the dishwasher cannot be heard, or is silent, are not true. If your kitchen and house are quiet without the TV and kids making noise, I promise that you will hear the dishwasher running for the hours it takes to wash. Trust what I'm saying as I've invested too many hours into this new, expensive dishwasher and I feel that I owe it to others to warn them of what they are getting themselves into. I even ordered a replacement of the same model as I felt the first one was simply defective, and it was exactly the same.
I've recorded a video of the sound if you'd like to experience it: https://youtu.be/1ltKwHtqQws
If the sound level isn't the most important to you, then I can recommend this dishwasher. If you are looking for a very quiet upgrade to your current old, loud dishwasher, then I cannot recommend this and would suggest you look into the Bosch brand instead.

This KitchenAid dishwasher holds a lot of dishes, silverware, plates, bowls, and mugs/drinking glasses. The top rack (third rack) is great for cooking spoons, knives, spatulas (which I used to have to hand wash). Super quiet and gets the dishes crystal clean. Only tiny issue I've run into is that I accidently hit the top control buttons from time to time. So far so good. We are pleased with this dishwasher purchase.

**Amazing Dishwasher - A Game Changer for the Kitchen!**
I've been using the KitchenAid 24" Top Control Built-In Dishwasher with Stainless Steel Tub, FreeFlex, 3rd Rack, and 44dBA for a few weeks now, and I couldn't be more impressed! This dishwasher has exceeded all my expectations in terms of performance, design, and efficiency.
**Super Quiet:** One of the standout features is how incredibly quiet it is. At just 44dBA, I can run it anytime, even during movie night, without any distractions. It's a game-changer for open-plan living spaces.
**Exceptional Cleaning:** The FreeFlex 3rd Rack is a brilliant addition. It maximizes space and allows me to fit in more items, including those awkward utensils and lids that usually don't have a spot. The cleaning power is top-notch, leaving every dish spotless, even on the normal cycle. The stainless steel tub also helps to keep everything sanitary and dries dishes perfectly.
**Sleek and Stylish:** The stainless steel design is sleek and fits beautifully with my kitchen decor. The top control panel is intuitive and easy to use, giving it a modern, streamlined look.
**Energy Efficient:** I love that it's energy-efficient, saving both water and electricity, which is great for the environment and my utility bills.
Overall, this KitchenAid dishwasher has made my life so much easier, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality, reliable, and stylish dishwasher. It's worth every penny!

This is my first KitchenAid brand appliance and I am happy to say that I am more than pleased. First the dishwasher is so quiet you don't notice that its running, The racks are well designed, is easy to load with good capacity and it gets all dishes, pots and pans very clean. It also does a great job at drying as it gets the dishes so hot you have to let them cool for a few minutes with the door open before removing them. The controls are well laid out and easy to use. I give this 5 stars in every area with the exception of cycle times that are slightly longer than my old dishwasher so I rate cycle times at 4, but it gets the dishes so clean it is worth the additional 20 or 30 minutes to complete a cycle. I highly recommend this dishwasher AAA+++.
