I love this amazing dishwasher !!

First, Thank you to my husband, for not listening to me , plugging up our drains and killing our dishwasher's motor which was only 2 1/2 yrs old haha because i now have a great new dishwasher!!!! I wanted to match all my other appliances (Frigidaire Pro) . But honestly that dishwasher was like $1000 and my dishes had to be rewashed all the time ,and they had a horrible smell! I love this new dishwasher ! The interior is great for packing all my dishes in especially tall ones and the arm still spins and doesn't hit them ! there are no wheels but gliders so its nice and smooth .The 2nd shelf is easily moved up or down to accommodate different size stuff . there is a 3rd shelf which is great for my carving knives and spatulas etc . I haven't even read the manual and am just trying different settings but the heated dry and pro dry are amazing!!! the dishes are totally dry smell super clean and very hot to the touch ! I used the sanitization button too! I love that I can see the time on the top of the panel under my counter so I always know where we are at in the wash cycle because its so quiet I can't hear it lol . This brand came highly recommended , and it was $1200 , and worth every penny ( sorry to my husband but he's happy with clean dishes!) I bought the extended warranty for $300 . for 5 years . I use my dishwasher at least every other day its probably one of the most highly used appliance I have and I just made my life easier and I couldn't be happier!! I read reviews when shopping and they help me , that's why I wanted to write one . This machine is worth the upgrade ! It's even self cleaning! and it looks beautiful in my kitchen its the smudge proof stainless. ( I don't think its totally smudge proof but way better then stainless). The handle matches my other handles but its actually even nicer. I wish I had bought the whole set , but I'm super happy anyway . Just unloaded Christmas dinner and everything was sparkling , dry and even hot to the touch! love love love .

    Fussy to Load and Use

It’s quiet and gets the dishes clean. It’s also fussy to load and use, makes poor use of lower rack space, and uses more energy than the 25 year old KitchenAid that it replaced. I don’t recommend it. I deliberately left food residue on dishes and silverware and let it sit for days. Everything was cleaned spotlessly using the recommended PowerWash cycle, and almost totally dried on the heat plus fan cycle except for the bottoms of some cups. The silverware basket’s slotted cover is fussy to load and unload, with our utensils only fitting in about half of the various-sized slots. We’ve removed the cover. The basket only fits on the side, so the door has to be opened fully to put silverware in most sections of the basket. I wish I could move it to the front and put two rows of plates all the way across behind it. The recommended three rows of plates illustrated in the manual only works if the plates are less than 7” across. 12 place settings - my foot. The touch buttons on top of the door are another fussy irritant. It’s hard to close the door without touching one or more of them. Our unit is mounted under a counter with a couple of inches overhang, enough to block the time display when the door is closed. Our old dishwasher used 0.58 kWh per load, with air dry. Although this one is rated EnergyStar, it uses 0.69 kWh just for the wash cycle. The recommended heat dry puts it up to about 1 kWh. A big drawback is the lack of a fan-only dry, which would be more efficient than the power-hungry heat dry. If neither of the heat dry options is selected, it leaves the dishes to try to dry inside the sealed cabinet. That said, they got fairly dry once the cabinet was opened, except for the bottoms of cups and mugs which hold some water. Another irritant: According to the instructions, we’re expected to run the water until hot before starting a cycle on this supposedly “automatic” dishwasher. I wonder if this is to save it from being dinged on EnergyStar’s rating for wasting water or heating power. KitchenAid says it will heat the water somewhat, but my watt meter showed no difference in early cycle heating between a hot and a cold water supply. So you’ve got to either go through a manual step and waste water, or start the wash with cold water. Again, it doesn’t seem to hurt the cleaning power, so my recommendation is to forget this instruction.

Still leaking, weekly repairs, will not replace.

I'm not one to write bad reviews, but I have never had such a bad experience with a company. We love our Kitchen Aid mixer, blender, and food processor, and when Consumer Reports recommended this dishwasher, we decided to spend a little extra and get it. It has never worked perfectly, but after the first month it started leaking. We have now had five repair visits for a dishwasher we have had for less than 3 months. Think about having to take off work every week and wait for a repair guy. We have another repair scheduled for this week. I keep asking if this is not normal for your products why not replace this lemon. I am told it is a one year service warranty, and they will keep sending repair people until it is deemed totally inoperable. Can you imagine constantly having to put down rags to catch the spurts of water coming out of your dishwasher, only to be told that there is no end in sight and it is up to them to decide when they sold you a lemon. I am hoping that Best Buy steps in and helps us get a replacement but I still haven't heard back from them. Hopefully they do and I will make sure never to buy a kitchen aid major appliance again. I hope my story will help you not make the same mistake as me.

Poor job on silverware/Third rack is a waste

This dishwasher was purchased after doing a fair bit of research, reading reviews, etc. The silverware was almost never fully clean when the cycle was done, even on the highest setting. The other issue was the third rack. I did not realize what a complete waste it was until I tried to put items in. Literally nothing but completely flat items fit (like a Tupperware lid or a flat bread knife). Given those two issues, I ended up returning it to Best Buy and just got the Bosch 800 Series with the MyWay third rack installed yesterday. Only ran that once so I don't want to praise it too much yet. But, I can say for sure that the third rack on the Bosch is so much more useful than the KitchenAid. It fit every conceivable item I could find! I want to let everyone know how great Best Buy was with the return. I anticipated being given a hard time but my experience was just the opposite. It helped that I didn't wait too long (10 days). The process was simple, the sales associate just refunded the entire order and started over with a new order. The KitchenAid was uninstalled and the Bosch was installed two days later. What a relief to not have to live with something that really wasn't working out, especially such an expensive item! Thank you, Best Buy!

Noisy, died a week after use

We have an open floor plan so it was important to find a quiet washer. I took a look at Bosch, but wasn’t crazy about the arrangement of tines, and I had read about problems with smell, due to the interior remaining damp. The main reason I got rid of our old washer was a failed heating element which lead to a smelly washer, so no more of that. So I went with this model: stylish, nice features, heating element (two stars for these features). Unfortunately, I found it to be loud. There was always a low level hum from the motor, which sometimes took on a buzzing/vibration (found other reports of this online). Tech came out and said it was normal, but I still think it was loud for a 46dB machine. From what I have read, this machine has not only the circulation motor running, but another motor is always on keeping the profilter clean, and I think the wash arm also runs on a motor instead of water pressure. All these motors contribute to sound. And then the machine died a week later. I changed to another model (KDTE254ESS) which uses the standard filter, a different motor and is perfectly quiet at 39db. You won’t miss the profilter, prodry of this model. I'll post a review for KDTE254ESS as well.

I did a great deal of research before purchasing this dishwasher. We wanted something that would last the next five years, at least, and that would actually dry the dishes. It was either this one, or a Bosch, and ultimately, we went with this one. Fifteen months later, the heating element has warped and melted some of the inner gears. No problem, there's a warranty. Except for this: they want you to purchase an in-store warranty these days, so they only offer full coverage for one year. One year. So we're three months beyond that deadline and dishwasher-less. After spending this kind of money, I expected better. When I contacted customer service, they basically said, "Here, let us refer you to our repair services." So we could pay out of pocket for the parts and technician that are no longer covered. As of 3 months. Did we get a lemon? Maybe. Buyer, beware. Look at the length of time reviewers have owned the machine. Less than a year? The machine is awesome. Longer than that? Probably not.

    A Bit Frustrating

I initially wanted to buy a different KitchenAid model but saw the powerarms on this one and just had to have it. I love the way it makes my dishes sparkling clean and dry (which was very important to me) BUT I ended up removing the third rack after a couple of weeks. I found that if I needed to adjust the upper rack all the way up so I could get larger plates to fit in the bottom rack, I couldn't put my tall glasses in the upper rack due to the third rack being in the way. If I lowered the upper rack for the glasses, I couldn't fit my plates in to the lower rack. I thought about exchanging it but I couldn't find another that I like without going up in price so I opted to remove the third rack. Now everything fits as it should with no frustrations. It is a bit disappointing though because I really liked the idea of that third rack. This is the only reason I didn't give it five stars.

We had to replace the dishwasher that was already installed when we bought our home. This KitchenAid looked fancy, and we love our mixer and coffee maker, so we went for it. Loading dishes is a hassle, though. Dishes just seem to fit awkwardly. Drinking glasses don't fit quite right, and you can only get a few to fit on each side. Tall glasses don't fit well at all, even with the basket lowered all the way. We can only fit about half of what we could in our older dishwasher. The biggest problem, though, is drying. Even on pro-dry & heated dry, coffee mugs and food containers (anything with a lip on the bottom) are just full of water. We have to pull out the top rack slowly so the water doesn't slosh off and onto the lower rack and floor. It's also not very fast. Our cycles take about 4 hours each. On the bright side, it does clean well and isn't very noisy. All in all, though, I would have expected better from this product.

Had a MayTag for may years and l know Kitchenaid also now makes Maytag. That said Maytag lasted for 15 years and did not give up the ghost but just time for replacement! Now the new Kitchenaid! So far real good! Real quiet. Can barely hear it run standing in front of it. Racks are smooth as silk in operation! Controls easy to use! I admit, I was sceptical of “hidden” controls. But even with the door closed, can still be viewed. Wash sessions are much longer then the old. Three hours vs two hours depending on the settings. But what the heck! Set and forget. Or get the one with the window and interior light and pull up a chair! I would recommend this model. I reserved for a while. With the warranty how can you go wrong.

It is probably the lowest price dishwasher in high-ends category you can buy. One major diff you can see is it comes with 3x3=9 main washing arms, comparing to 3 in regular dishwashers. It is very quiet when running and the results are much better than my previous Whirlpool dishwasher at about $700. However there are some issues. The holes on silverware baskets it too big and cannot hold chopsticks. The noisy level is higher when it drain water out at the end of each cycle. The 3rd rack cannot fold so I cannot use 3rd rack because everytime I have 1 or 2 glasses need be clean and the 3rd rack blocked it.

We've had this dishwasher for about 3 months, and it does a great job getting the dishes clean. The third row is really handy for knives, and other slim items. The only complaint I have is that the dishes are always pretty wet at the end of the cycle (even when using the prolonged heat dry cycle). My previous dishwasher was pretty old, and near the end did a poor job washing, but dishes came out pretty much dry even when not using the heat dry cycle. Not sure what the structural difference is, but I've taken to just wiping dishes as I put them away, and it's fine.

This dishwasher is awesome! I have loaded it with some of the dirtiest dishes one can imagine and never have to touch them up. Love the 3rd rack to get all those odd cooking utensils out of the way. My last dishwasher was a 13 yr old Bosch and I absolutely hated it. It never cleaned worth a darn and was always having a break down. This Kitchen Aid is well worth the money. It's a solid appliance and the racks have an awesome glider system. It's super quiet, you can't even tell that it is running. Just takes some getting use to the longer cycles/

Still was for proper installation in ATL as two no show/call after we waited for two separate 4 hour scheduled visits. A complete waste of our time for just waiting. After calling five times and speaking with the phone people, not the schedulers, and being on the it seems the required hold, we have still not had the proper installation. The personnel want to schedule the fix for this Saturday evening! Go figure This is since Dec 6 and it is now the 17. Go figure. The logistics and experience will not permit me to purchase anything from Best Buy again! This has tremendously damaged the BB Brand in my mind. Santa will be very disappointed with the ATL/ Alpharetta area elfs.

I was sad when my 20 year old dishwasher died. The new ones take so much longer to cycle. But boy do my dishes come out sparkling clean! It took some getting used to but I am now happily using all three levels and that small basket in the back of the mid level is handy for measuring spoons, jar tops, soy sauce dishes. My fat handle cutlery doesn’t fit in the slots but the top is easy to slide off and then you can fit lots of things in the spaces. I am still learning but each day I like it more and more.

Bought this two years ago for $1,500. Runs fine, but last night the latch that holds the door shut stopped working. We take good care of our appliances and a latch breaking after two years of normal use is extremely disappointing. We've also had 2 refrigerator repairs that was eventually replaced with an entirely different model... all in less than two years. I'm tired of being on hold with this company and troubleshooting their products. It's obvious they're cutting corners and in over their heads with their high-end product lines.

This top end model is shiny and Ferris-wheel like inside with stainless and 3 shelves, wow! Cycles and quiet operation are benefits...I look forward to enjoying. Today BB's 3rd party installer no showed, no call, no happy me. Store and HQ very apologetic and will provide some future gift card comp by party 3 + they gave huge discount on disposal & instal added for rescheduled delivery. Will update review later but talked to folks in another store that have lower model that say it's like having person inside it that gets dished clean & dry nearly silent every time. I have faith BB will make my situation right as they have in the past if issues.

Replaced 6 yr kenmore elite DW that decided it wanted to retire. It’s been one month with this washer and I am still satisfactied with purchase. The only thing ..I wish the third rack was only half the width of washer so I could fit tall cups on second rack....some larger 20oz metal travel mugs don’t fit on second rack when 3rd rack is installed... the third rack is easily removed so this is not a big problem just a wish of change in design.washing and drying is awesome- sound level is great although I have not installed bottom plate due to pending kitchen remodeling

At first I was reluctant to spend the money on this dishwasher, but after having it for a couple months I couldn’t be happier. If your family is the type that has to run the dishwasher every night then you’ll love this machine. No need to prewash your dishes or rinse them off prior to running the machine if you run it every night. We don’t use that many dishes everyday so I still rinse most food particles off, but the dishwasher handles everything else just fine.

This dishwasher was not what I expected at all. I did a lot of research and found this product did not meet my expectations. You can not use large Tervis cups on top and load basic plates on the bottom. Poor design. The soap dispenser did not clear all the way and had leftover soap both times I ran a cycle. The dishwasher came damaged and took over 20 hours of on hold with an operator to get it scheduled for return. I returned dishwasher this product and bought a thermador sapphire dishwasher.
