    We had it not even a month and had it serviced, 2 of the elements were giving an error code EF12. We had to pay for the parts which cost us about close to $300. We had it over 2 years now and had to service it again as there is this burnt smell. We decided on Kitchen Aid expecting it to be a trusted brand but we are very disappointed.

    Stay away from Kitchen Aid appliances

    Please note that most of the positive reviews on this site refer to induction cooking in general and not to this particular cooktop. We have owned this particular Kitchen Aid induction cooktop for a few years. It brakes regularly every few to several months: I believe we are on our 9th repair. It is always error F47. The repair crew replaces the components and after a few months same things brake again. I cannot believe that Kitchen Aid has been selling such defective appliance and defective parts for years! I placed a warning for any future customers on Kitchen Aid site but when checked back cannot find it??? Which is very concerning. The replies from Kitchen Aid to customers whose negative feedback did get listed create an appearance that the company may be interested in negative feedback - but nothing further from the truth: it is next to impossible to reach Kitchen Aid customer service via phone using the number provided. When you do, you are referred to the local repair store and story repeats itself. I messaged them a number of times and never got a response. We will never buy another Kitchen Aid appliance!

    Extremely Annoying Beeping "feature"

    The cooktop is intrusive; you can't leave anything on it because it will start beeping at you, for no reason other than, I suppose, the KitchenAId engineers are concerned that you might put something on the cooktop. There is no way to disable this. Like if you take a pan out of the oven and put it on the cooktop, it will beep at you until you take it off. There is no reason for this, it's just intrusive and annoying.

    I had this installed in my newly built home 2 years ago. It has completely stopped working twice now. Of the 2 years I've been here, I've been without a cook top for 4 months! Service is a long and arduous process. If you use more than 2 of the 4 burners at the same time, it blows out.

    Terrible unreliable product.

    Reviews here are unbelievable! When you first use it, it’s great. I’ve had mine. About 4 years, the entire module has been replaced at least annually. Now my service provider won’t repair it. STAY AWAY. Love it when it works, but It doesn’t. Basically a $600 dollar per year maintenance cost.

    Buyer beware, Bridging Feature

    Be aware that, at this date (Dec '16), there is no griddle compatible with this KitchenAid Induction Cooktop with bridging feature. We based our purchase of bridging option due to the flexibility offered with being able to have a large cooking area. This observation has been commented by other purchasers for nearly two years. I would advise doing web research before purchasing.

    Do Not Buy This Product!

    Purchased model KICU509XSS 30" induction cooktop 12 Mar 2019. Failed 13 Sep 19 error code F47. L&R power control boards & user interface replaced. Failed 29 Oct 2019. Same items replaced plus all 4 burners. Unit failed 17 Dec 2019 (F47 code). KitchenAid replaced entire cooktop with new. Failed 06 Jul 2020 (F47). DEFECTIVE DESIGN!!! Will not repair again. Purchasing Bosch 30" induction cooktop.
