Customers appreciate the 5 Cup Cordless Rechargeable Chopper's ease of use, cordless design, and long battery life. Many also highlight its compact size and surprisingly powerful motor for its size, along with its generally high-quality construction. However, some users note inconsistencies in the chopping action and find the lid design somewhat challenging. Overall, the positive feedback on convenience and performance outweighs the concerns about chopping consistency and lid usability.

I've had this about a week and used it much more than anticipated. Because it's cordless and much smaller than our blenders or food food processor it's just easier and handier to set up, use and clean. I find myself getting it out to do chores that I would normally do with a knife. So far I have used it to chop nuts, onions, peppers. Besides chopping I have made smoothies, salsa, cold coffee drinks and even Mayo (with the whisk attachment and the drizzle function).
The chopper has 2 speeds, a pulse button, a blade, a whisk attachment and has a drizzle function that lets you slowly and evenly ad liquids .It has a 5 cup bowl that is large enough for most chopping or mixing functions .Because it is cordless and very compact compared to similar appliances, I find myself leaving it out on the counter. While this isn't technically a food processor or a blender, it performs most of the functions that I use them for and is much easier. I love it!

My wife and I cook a lot of vegetables so this was a must-have for us after many years of chopping by hand. The first thing I love is the size. I was worried about having another appliance to store in the kitchen, but it’s small enough to fit easily in the cupboard, whilst still being large enough to chop a decent amount of veggies. We did onions and peppers mainly and it cut the preparation time to almost nothing. Cordless is a huge bonus for this and we don’t have to compete for counter space with the other plugged appliances. Dishwasher safe and refrigerator storage friendly brings the convenience home for this chopper. We love it!

I am not what you would call an expert cook. I know some basics any maybe can do a couple of more advanced things but i do not consider myself an expert. One of my least favorite things to do is to chop ingredients especially onions.
With this chopper it took me less than 5 minutes total to go from an unpeeled onion to a chopped one. I love how quickly and well it works. My absolute favorite part is about is no cables! just make sure the battery is fully charged and you can move this anywhere making it easy to use especially while i am using other appliances.
If you hate chopping as much as I do I highly recommend this.

KitchenAid joins the world of “cordless”

KitchenAid has never had any cordless kitchen products…until now. So…how are they? We shall find out. There are three products (until they release more) in their new Cordless Collection: a hand blender, a hand mixer, and a chopper. It’s this last one I got. Upon opening the box, I received my first “disappointment”. For anyone who’s read any of my reviews, you know I’m a big proponent of environmentally-friendly packaging. KitchenAid gets a huge FAIL on this, as I was greeted by two large pieces (a top, and a bottom, piece) of molded Styrofoam. Set into the top piece is the charging piece, with all other parts in the ‘middle’. Thee included Quick Start Guide couldn’t be easier – it’s a single 4” x 7” sheet, with all the necessary information on one side. Initial setup is done in five super-simple steps, which should take no more than 15 seconds.
Kitchen Aid claims that a full charge takes 2 hours, and that, on a full charge, you can chop 40 onions. Truth-be-told, I forgot to time how long it actually took to charge, but I’m certain it was less than 2 hours (probably because the battery had some charge when it was received. As for the 40-onion claim, I can’t say, as I didn’t attempt to chop 40 onions. I CAN tell you that it chops onions, tomatoes, cucumber, and carrots with ease. Depending on how fine/coarse you want your food chopped, you have thee option of two ‘speed’ settings – “fast” and “slow”, which are actually labeled ‘1’ & ‘2’.
Personally, I think it does a great job at what it’s designed to do. Is it worth the almost $100 price? That depends on who you ask. If you’re a chef, and you enjoy chopping by hand, then why are you even reading this review? If you’re someone who hates chopping and/or just doesn’t have (or feels they don’t have) the time to chop a bunch of stuff, then it’s most definitely worth it. For anyone ion-between, that’s a decision you’ll have to make on your own. Personally, I’m part of that ‘middle’ group, closer to the non-chef end of the spectrum, and I believe it’s a price worth paying…as long as you DO use it. And, in my case, it WILL get used. Maybe not as frequently as some of my other electric kitchen “gadgets” (such as my Vitamix, Cuisinart Griddler, or Ninja Foodi Air Fry Oven)…but, again, it WILL get used. If you’re like me, and don’t have a kitchen with lots of outlets, a cordless kitchen ‘gadget’ is perfect. I say, “Just Get It.”
Disclaimer: This product was provided free, or at reduced cost, for the purpose of reviewing the product. Nevertheless, the above review, be it positive, negative, or somewhere in-between, is a 100% honest review, and the price paid played absolutely no part in my review.

Excellent Mini Alternative to Larger Processors

The KitchenAid chopper is a cordless, mini version of a food processor capable of doing quick, small chopping or mixing jobs in a much more space-conscious form factor.
The chopping bowl is 38oz, which is a pretty good size, but effectively you can use this device to chop about ½ of a large onion at a time. Any more put in it requires additional run time to ensure all the large pieces are processed, but while doing so it continues to chop already-processed pieces, which can make them incredibly small, nearly liquified. I found the ½ onion measurement to be just about right.
Chopping is QUICK, featuring 2 chopping speeds. At the lower speed I found I needed less than 5 seconds to completely process the ½ onion. The processing is activated by squeezing the lid closed with your thumb, which I found easier than having to hold it with 1 hand and use the other to activate a button.
I did find that the device doesn’t truly “dice” an onion, more it thin-slices it, almost shreds it. That wasn’t a problem at all, but if you’re looking for a more traditional, square-shaped dice (like making a pico de gallo salsa or something that needs a certain “presentation”), you’ll find that this won’t do the trick. But for using it to process aromatics for cooking with, it was incredibly convenient to break out, use, & put back away.
The blade is incredibly sharp, so please use extra caution if you’re handling it or trying to hand-wash it.
The chopper also includes a “whisking” attachment, which was good for blending spices together thoroughly. I use a special recipe of various spices for making rubs for smoking meat, and the whisking attachment made it extremely easy to get a good distribution of the spices.
The included charging cord can be easily tucked into the processor bowl for ease of storage. Battery life was extremely good. I only charged it once and haven’t seen any drag on the battery yet with multiple uses.
Overall:
This is a great alternative to the larger food processor units out there on the market. The tradeoff, of course, is capacity, but emptying the bowl 1 or 2 times if you’re doing a larger prep job wasn’t a deterrent to me loving this device.

Cordless Chopping Convenience

This KitchenAid 38 oz. Chopper is a great addition to my selection of small kitchen appliances, designed to help save time and effort with food preparation. The quality you’d expect from the KitchenAid brand, is found here.
One of the big pluses for me is that this food chopper is rechargeable, so no inconvenient cord to get in the way or forcing you to be tied to being near an outlet. So you can move around your kitchen, going to different ‘cooking stations’; it’s not that heavy either.
I really like how all you need to do is push down on the Pulse On Button located on the lid at the top of the handle and the chopper starts/stops. This give you immediate control over how long you want the chopper to chop, whisk, or purée.
This KitchenAid food chopper’s 5-cup capacity is just the right size, at least for my needs - it’s not too much and not too little. My husband loves making his “world famous” salsa with it. The pour spout and handle are really convenient, too. So is the Drizzle basin that’s built into the lid, for adding liquid ingredients.
The two speeds settings do the job. I didn’t find the chopper to be excessively loud, except of course, when chopping harder chunks of food. All the parts are dishwasher safe (except for the base unit, of course); top rack only. There’s also a battery status indicator light, to let you know when to recharge.
And, the price for this KitchenAid chopper is just right. I’d definitely recommend this handy little food prep appliance.

Incomplete manual & Quickstart guide.

This is the food chopper made by KitchenAid, model KFC B519.
To open the box, cut the clear tape on the side and the flap will open. Don't try to open the box on the top, because this is not how it works and you can hurt yourself from the sharp edge of the cardboard.
The surprise came just a little later. I'm one of those who try to read the manual and the QuickStart guide of every product to try to familiarize myself. A food chopper is not something I would ever try to use without learning how to use it because I don't want to chop off my finger. Obviously this is not something children should be using regardless of how mature they seem to be. Some will not agree with me – but unfortunately, that is why there are instructions on how to shampoo one's hair (on the bottle of shampoo.)
The QuickStart guide is incomplete. It is unbelievable that whoever came up with this and the manual did not see the shortcoming. Perhaps there were no testers to go through the steps, either.
Even a printer nowadays comes with a more thorough QuickStart guide. This chopper's QuickStart guide tells you to charge the appliance. And step two is to place the bowl onto the base. The problem and I feel that this is a very important shortcoming is that it doesn't tell you how to remove the lid from the bowl. There are foam pieces inside the bowl to keep things from moving around which includes two very sharp blades on the bottom. Step four tells us how to place the lid on top of the bowl and twist to the right to lock in place. They will be others out there who could not figure out the "button" needs to be twisted clockwise so it can be removed. I did read the entire QuickStart guide (it is on cardboard) and I thought to myself that I could have easily have broken the bowl and the lid if I had tried to remove the lid differently.
The multipurpose blade or the whisking accessory cannot be used together. This is in the manual and not on the QuickStart guide. If both are in the bowl and it is turned on, I would not know what happened (because I didn't want to try it.)
There is a hole on the top you can pour some liquid such as oil. Unfortunately, the whole is very small so if you ported in too fast, it will quickly overflow.
To turn on (and operate) the shopper, you press with your thumb while you hold on to the handle. You let go of the thumb and it stops. The bowl has to be seated correctly before it can be securely locked into place.
I did not see any mark on the bowl itself and had to follow the illustrated manual. I realize bowl is made from transparent plastic, but this should've been some sort of indentation that could line up to the base of the chopper. There isn't one.
But when it works, it works fine. The battery lasts per charge (per the manual, for two hours.) The battery itself is not removable, and the machine will not operate while it is plugged in. (The power button blocks the connector from being plugged in when it is turned on.)
So when the battery is worn out and cannot be recharged anymore, it's time to retire it. Probably like many wireless headsets (or cell phones/tablets out there. Once the battery can no longer be charged, it is the end of life.)
How does the whole thing felt in my hands? The base is pretty sturdy – but the bowl itself will probably break if I drop it.
Once I figured out how to take it apart, it is fairly easy to clean.
Just like any blender/chopper, it makes a bit of noise and this is not a complaint.
Is it a good buy? If I were to use it every day, it probably would last me a year. When the battery can no longer be charged, I will have to throw it away because I look at the base and it doesn't look like I could take it apart and replaced the battery.
Are there any advantages of having battery-powered food chopper? It is hard to say.
But I have a strong reservation about how incomplete the manual and the QuickStart guide are. They should have been a "how to unpack" guide.
And for those who argued that I don't need one – there are two very sharp blades in there – how could average users don't need such a guide is beyond me.

I didn't really anticipate how handy it would be to have a cordless chopper. Though limited in capacity, this has plenty of power--enough to dice raw carrots. With the dual speed settings, you can also chop softer ingredients without pureeing them. Battery life is good, and recharging is quick. Two different inserts allow for both mixing and chopping.

After using this chopper for a week I am really impressed. This is the first battery powered chopper I ever tested and I would say it is well worth buying. For the most part, I have used it to chop onions, mince garlic and make chimichurri sauce. In all the scenarios the chopping and mixing quality was excellent. Some other things I like is that it doesn't take up much counter space, it's easy to clean, there is no attached cord to limit where you can use it and one charge can last a really long time. I've used it at least 6 times without charging and the battery light still shows green. The only thing that I didn't like about it was that putting it together the first couple times was a little difficult. There are no markings to highlight where the twist points for the lid, cup and base are. However, I was able to fix that issue by marking them with a sharpie.
Overall, If you are in the market for a chopper, this is the one to get.

KitchenAid - 38-Oz. Chopper - Black Matte
The manual is short, well laid out, and beneficial to read.
Because of the size you have to start with vegetables cut to 1” or less.
Cabbage and lettuce come out extra fine with some untouched leaves. Pulsing to get all the leaves shredded turns some of the bits to liquid so you have to empty the container and take out the big pieces.
Nuts and carrots (and other hard vegetables) come out in mostly tiny chunks. Not all the chunks are tiny so you need to sort through them a bit. I was unable to get any vegetables to slice.
The whisker turned 2% milk to the consistency of lightly whipped cream in about 6 pulses. It got rid of all the lumps without an issue.
Easy to clean and great that it’s dishwasher safe.
Overall easy to use and quick to clean up. It is a nice addition to my kitchen.

I own a lot of KitchenAid items in my kitchen. All of them are well built and sturdy and this chopper falls right in along with the rest. Assembly was quick and easy. Plug it in let it fully charge and you're ready to slice and dice!
The size is great for making party dips and salsa for chips. We tried to make buffalo chicken ranch dip like what's offered at a local favorite restaurant. Used some canned already cooked white chicken and this baby had no problems separating and mixing everything nicely.
Recipe below:
4 - 5 large chicken breast, cooked and shredded
1½ cups shredded Cheddar cheese
2 8 ou. pkg. cream cheese, softened (room temp. is best)
1 12 ou. jar Hot Wing Sauce
1 cup Ranch dressing
I've never made my own salsa but that is definitely next on the list. I did use it to chop my toppings for my salad which worked flawlessly!.
Break down for cleaning was fast and simple for hand washing or dishwasher whatever your choice may be. This chipper is a welcomed member to my KitchenAid family!
I'd highly recommend it to others who are looking for a great chipper!

I've been looking for a long time for a mini food processor to replace a Cuisinart one I had years ago. I've tried a couple, but they never seem to really work to chop small quantities (like chimichurri). This one absolutely works. The key is that the blade skims the bottom of the bowl so it doesn't just whir above what you want to chop. The only negatives are the instructions aren't the clearest so it took me a bit to figure out how to get the lid off. It also doesn't work if it isn't charged. But by charging it just a couple minutes I was able to pulse it enough for the salsa I was making. The negatives are minor to it actually working. Overall its a great product and I certainly recommend it!

I always cry with onions and I am so grateful to have this chopper! Of course it does with with other foods, but this has saved my burning eyes! I did find I would have to cut up a chunk or two that gets pressed up against the walls, but I'm okay with that. I love that it runs on batteries and you don't have to be close to an outlet to use. The capacity is good size too! I also like the way it runs safely. The lid has to be on and locked in order for it to start. I've yet to find out how long a charge lasts, but I'm pretty happy with this chopper!
Interestingly the manual shows a storage case, but none came in my box.

It's a good little chopper. Charges up quickly and does a good job at chopping up veggies. I like it's size because I can pull it out and quickly get the job done without having to deal with the larger processor or cords. It will save a few mins here or there.
Using it to chop peppers and onions though it didn't do a great job at chopping a large number at one time. I had to only put a small amount in at one time. Any more and to get it all chopped it ended up more of a puree. This is just something you have to account for.
