    Service Nightmare

We were originally excited about the refrigerators looks and functionality. Immediately upon receipt the refrigerator was emitting a high pitched whine and created interference on our television. We immediately called whirlpool who owns Kitchenaid, and were told to have a technician come to the house to evaluate it. After 2 visits from different service companies, and multiple phone calls over a 3 to 4 week period of time it was determined that the compressor was not functioning from the factory and would need to be replaced. Whirlpool refused to replace the refrigerator and will required yet another visit to the house for the lengthy repair. This problem has already resulted in more than 6 hours of our time in phone calls and repair visits and an ear piercing noise since we owned it. This is the customer service we've received for a problem that was missed by their QC department during manufacture and present immediately upon delivery. It turns out that the Kitchenaid warranty will not allow replacement of the refrigerator only the repair of this defective part. Customer service from Whirlpool has been horrible, the refrigerator has turned out to be very poor quality, we will never buy another product from them again and will suggest to everyone we know that they do the same...

    Poor refrigerator

We purchased this refrigerator as an upgrade from the builder 8 years ago. We've had a repair about every two years. Fortunately we purchased the extended warranty - TWICE. The extended warranty has now lapsed, the refrig is 8 years old and the repairman tells us the compressor must be replaced. This is the only "lemon" refrig I've ever had but please beware before buying this one. It's also miserably small. Can't fit a pizza box in the refrig or freezer - we've never like it.

Because our kitchen was desiged for a 24.5 cu refrigerator, our options were limited. The price of ths refrigerator is a bit much for what you get. The plastic used for the storeage drawers is flimsy and the overall quality is commercial at best. We purchased the same refrigerator in 2000 and does not compare to what we received in 2010! The quality has been downgraded.
