I've owned this Kitchenaid microwave for about 2 years and use it very lightly (about 1x per week#. It's needed repairs twice already related to the keypad controls and electronics #bad switches). In the case of the bad switch, the microwave froze during operation and would only turn off if the door was opened. The first repair was covered under warranty and the 2nd repair required a service call and switch replacement costing me over $160. I would not recommend buying this Kitchenaid microwave due to poor reliability and I am personally not buying any Kitchenaid products in the future.

We bought this KitchenAid microwave 3 yrs ago and it has needed repairs twice, once within warranty, the second time out of warranty. This last time it needs a new magnatron, the heating element, for a whopping $300! We haven't bothered repairing it and have replaced it with a Sharp microwave for $130. Sharp has a 5 yr warranty on their magnatrons. Another unattractive feature, the keypad on the KitchenAid began wearing off only months after we began using it. For me, Kitchenaid = Very high priced for a most unreliable appliance.

Poor Quality Microwave for high price

After 15 months of use, microwave is no longer working. The price that we have paid $500, we expect this microwave would last at least 5yrs. Our old microwave that was builder install lasted for 9yrs. It's not the high end either. If KitchenAid is charing $500 for their microwave, wouldn't you expect a better quality product? This is not the case. I don't recommend this product to anyone!

I have owned the predecessor of this product the Model KCMS145JS. It is rusting inside. I hope they fixed this problem with this model. I need to replace mine and this is the only one on the KitchenAid line. It only lasted 5 years.

Microwave just stopped working. Cost is way to high to justify the short lifespan of the product.
