Bought freestanding ice maker 3 months ago. Worked really well and we like the ice. Then it stopped making ice. A service call later and we found out it was the filter. The water filter stopped the unit from getting water. Called KitchenAid and was told filters are not covered under warranty. I understand that, but this filter is supposed to be changed after 9 months. It lasts 3 and actually breaks the unit and they don't own up. $1800 for this ice maker and they will lose a customer over a $45 filter.
