I really do love this microwave, it has the halogen feature which is so awesome. It is a bit loud when you use the halogen/convection feature, but it is what it is. This is worth its price. I had originally bought the 700.00 microwave and then saw this one, my wife was eager to get a halogen microwave and after seeing this one, which is way more robust and looks outstanding compared to the lesser models, I was excited and switched. It is big and spacious inside with all the bells and whistles you would expect.

If you just need it to look pretty

Keep in mind that we have a previous model that is essentially identical to this one -- Fortunately for us, we didn't purchase this microwave, it was installed in the home when built. But it's been less than 5 years and the microwave keeps beeping and you cannot make any selections while it's stuck making it's own choices on the touch screen. Once it's done going haywire, then can we continue to use it. When contacting Kitchen Aid they informed us that we'd have to pay 125 to bring someone to look at it and then pay for any needed parts of labor beyond the $125. If you look at Sears who's approved to sell Kitchenaid parts, most everything is a minimum of $40 with electronic boards ranging from $150-200. Considering the cost of replacing all parts needed for the touch sensor, you'd be hard pressed to spend less than $500. Fortunately for us, the microwave hasn't figure out how to turn on by itself, though we'd probably get coverage if that's ever the case. Also note that the warranty listed in the manual is very deceiving as it appeared that within 2-5 years we'd be covered but that only applied to stoves and not microwaves. For a $1200 microwave, you only get 1 year on the warranty and the next 10 gives you coverage for rust. Rust?? Do yourself a favor and search Kitchenaid reviews online, not just here. Other than their mixer, their products are very problematic and their customer service won't provide any help.

    Can't beat this

This is the abosolute best microwave. I bought without seeing it in person just on the website. I loved its look and was attracted by some of the smaller features such as keep warm and soften. When I got it today and used it to cook some bacon I was floored to see it had a setting and came with a browning pan to cook it in. It asked how many pieces and even lets you choose how done you want it. That was the most perfectly cooked bacon I have ever had. Once I started looking at its features I was blown away at what it will do and how easy the control panel is to operate. Every kitchen should have one of these. This appliance will make me a fabulous cook. How cool is this!

    Excellent Microwave

I was a little concerned about the look of the microwave but it looks really nice now that it is in. But it is huge, both inside and out. It sticks out considerably from my cabinets. The build quality seems excellent as the thing weighs a ton. I really like the auto sensor cook feature for the microwave, just wished it had the same option for the convection. The convection works as advertised and you can even cook in dual mode, convection with up to 30% microwave power to speed things up. The only think I don't like about it is the metal rack it comes with. Instead of hanging the rack from hooks on the wall it just sits on the glass turntable. It works but it just seems a little cheap. I tend to store it in the microwave as the feet make it tall and hard to store elsewhere. Overall, great microwave/convection oven! Would buy again.

    Bad product quality

I was happy with the product for a year, after which the materials began to wear out, and began looking bad. Even for a higher-end product, the quality of materials used is inferior. Also, customer service is horrible. They are unwilling to help out in any way, and I'm going to have to either buy a new one or get this fixed, since it is practically falling apart. Would not recommend product or brand to anyone.

    It's Great!

It melts butter perfect on the melting selection. I have only had this installed since mid January, 08. If i used to put sometjhing on 1 min before then put it on 30 seconds now. (depending on microwave.) I haVe not used the convection yet. I will say shop around. the amount you save on your bestbuy bucks (reward zone) may or may NOT equal the savings you can get from a different appliance store.

    Beware warning

Purchased this microwave in May of 2010. It worked good for 4 months. has not worked since. Whirlpool has been out 4 times to fix it with no results. They said it was deemed unfixable. Trying to get Whirlpool to help me is almost impossibel. They say they will call back in 24 to 48 hours never happens. Calling the service center of whirlpool is useless. Ask for a supervisior and they say they do not want to talk to you. BEWARE

    Not the one you want

Got this microwave 7 years ago with a remodel. While it looks nice and is great when it works, I've had to repair it more than 4 times. Like other reviews, the screen cycles on and off without warning, it would let me make any choices on the digital display that is touch sensitive and it beeps all night so I finally unplugged it. You would think for the price it would be top notch, but its not. It's super heave, at over 100lbs when you have to take it down to fix or replace.

    Not made well

    Posted .

Bought this Microwave with a kitchen remodel. The first year it was great, but I have a very active family and this is not made for rigorous use. The handle has been replaced twice, The inside door panel was broken as most of the parts on this expensive appliance is plastic. I had the entire door replaced. It is now broken again and the microwave will not work at all. I will be replacing it instead of wasting more money on repairs.
