    Series 1 Excellent Buy!

We have the Series 1 (KSRS25RVMS02) of this model that we purchased 3 years ago when our Maytag side-by-side refrigerator failed for the 3rd time in 7 years (had it replaced by the manufacturer twice and then refunded the third and final time). We bought our wonderful KitchenAid fridge from Best Buy with a 4 year extended warranty and have not had to use the warranty at any time in the 3 years that we have had the fridge. LIKES: . Indoor ice container . Ice make that has crush or whole ice . Water filter that truly filters the water with excellent taste . Don't have to replace the filter but every 3-4 months (there are 3 of us who drink from it 24/7) . Never have to adjust the freezer or fridge settings, just simply works efficiently at 0 and 39 (recommended for us because the fridge is against an external direct sun wall) . Top shelf of fridge is a bit colder than the rest of the fridge, which works great for us, because we put food that may spoil sooner there and it lasts 2-5 days longer depending on the food (opened canned fruit, homemade applesauce, yogurt, opened cheese, etc.) . Freezer and fridge have lots of space everywhere, whether on shelves, in bins, or on the door. We are never wanting for more space, even when we throw dinner parties with cakes, pies, and other foods that have to refrigerated while we eat the cooked meal.

    Not Impressed

I bought 3 Kitchenaid Architect II appliances 14 months ago. This particular refrigerator is one of them. The icemaker does not eject the ice properly into the ice bin. More often than not, one or two cubes "stick", then they fall into the bottom of the freezer. The repairman said to just take the lid covering the ice maker off. Well, I don't think I should have to do that with a new refrigerator. He said it was a flaw. Frankly, the icemaker portion is just cheaply made. Also, one of the prongs on the plastic plate that covers the coils at the bottom snapped off when we took it off to vacuum the coils. It does keep a constant temperature, but I really don't think this refrigerator is worth the higher end price at all. Maybe half of what I paid. The warranty is for one year, then you have to pay over $100 a year to renew the warranty. I did buy the warranty renewal, because of the problems I had the first year. I would not buy this brand of refrigerator again.

Great to look at; performs well; long warranty

I purchased this refrigertaor to replace a 12 year old Whirlpool, to get the cabinet depth design and better energy efficiency. Because of the tall height, the refrigerator and freezer both boast one extra shelf than comparable 25 cu ft designs. The refrigerator runs quietly, and the ice maker works well. (I have seen some reviews complaining about leaks; I suggest reading the owner's manual which clearly states you need to run a lot of water through the system initially to flush out the air from the lines, otherwise it will leak. The salesmen told me to run three gallons through. I did. No leaks.) Both freezer and refirgerator compartments are well-lit from top to bottom. The electronic display is nicely done. The fit and finish are top notch. The other big bonus with Kitchen Aid is the ten-year factory warranty on the main cooling components of the refrigerator - all other manufacturers have dropped down to only one year.

    Very Noisy Refrigerator

We recently purchased this refrigerator as part of a kitchen remodel that also included a new Kitchenaid range, microwave, and dishwasher. The condenser fan and compressor run continuously. According to the user's manual, "your refrigerator may run as much as 100% of the time" and this is considered normal operation. The condenser fan noise is particularly annoying. A friend recently asked why my range vent hood fan was running when I wasn't cooking anything. (Nope, that's just the fridge.) If you live next a freeway or an airport, this refrigerator's noise level might be acceptable. If not, I would not recommend purchasing this item.
