Pretty good mixer for beginners. Its sized perfectly for a family, little small if you're baking for a party and want to double batches. The tilt lock mechanism could use a little attention from the engineers. Overall it's been great as I learned to bake.

Best mix master out there. Great motor. I’ve had mine for 25 years and still going strong and my mother’s that I use to use while growing up is still working strong. I buy one for all my kids wedding shower gifts.

This is my third 4.5 quart KitchenAid stand mixer in about 40 years of baking. Before that I used hand mixers. I will never go to another brand as this is the ideal, substantial weight standmixer that lasts for years with proper maintenance, and be sure to read your owner's manual to do that properly. I've never used it for other than cakes and cookies, but I bake at least twice a week just for family. This is a reliable workhorse. It will go about 4 years before needing factory tuneup, and they've made that super easy. Very Happy!
