I am the type to go with the cheaper brand when it comes to blenders. This one in particular I would consider a higher class brand. I can confidently say that you will not be disappointed with this blender. It does what it needs to do, it blends with power. At first impression, I was surprised on how heavy the base was, indicating that this is packing some serious blending power within. The blender jar is plastic and the base has a nice finish to it. I obtained the contour silver one. You can also use various other accessories with this blender if you so desire.(sold separately) The blender itself has various settings. Below the off dial is a "P," indicating pulse. After, there are the various manual speeds ranging from 1-5. Then, the additional settings, Ice Crush, Icy Drink, Smoothie, and Clean. I have used most of them and they all seem to work pretty well! I usually use the blender for my morning smoothies. The blender does an excellent job at blending even the toughest ingredients such as frozen fruit and ice. I can safely say this blender has POWER. I have yet to see some big chunks! Overall, if you are looking for a powerful blender with multiple uses, this one is perfect. I would recommend this to others.

I stop myself from calling this a "blender". It's truly an awesome machine. Yes it acts like a blender, but it's so much more. It's a smoothie maker, a professional slushy drink mixer, and a blender all in one. Its beautifully made and its great to look at. The polymer jar is light, strong, and large (56 oz or 1650 ml). It sets easily and securely on the heavy motor base. It sets on the base in basically two directions for left and right handed users. When setting it on the base the jar shaft easily matches the motor shaft for effortless alignment. The lid for the jar fits easily and tightly on top, yet is easily removed when needed. The opening to add ingredients while blending is easily removed and fits securely with a simple twist. The motor base is heavy with its 1200 watt motor and simple dial control. The base is still easily moved using the nice side finger holes to securely lift the entire unit. The unit has the feel, construction, fit, finish, and nice touches like an Apple product. The simple dial control allows easy setting of the ice crusher setting, the icy drink setting, the smoothie setting, and the clean function setting as well as 5 other speed settings and a manual pulse setting. After the selection is made, you simply push the power button and the machine does the rest. Most of the settings have built in time allotments for the particular function. Once completed, the machine will shut itself off. Of particular note is the icy drink setting that starts slow, speeds up, slows down to allow the ice to drop, and then speeds back up for a faster smooth blend. It really works.! Both the drink setting and smoothie settings produce a well ground up smooth-as-silk mixture!. Much smoother and much more consistent results than a standard blender will produce. Yes, its a great machine. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Some reviewers have mentioned a motor smell, I noticed the same on the first use. After a few minutes of use, it was gone and did not return. With a manufacture 5 year warranty, I am not to worried there will be an issue. A Great Machine that you will not be sorry you spent the extra money on.

The Kitchen Aid 5 Speed Blender is a geat all in one unit that does what its suppose to do. It makes well blended smoothies where the flavor makes your mouth sing. You can use the 5 speed function or the 3 recipe settings to for your cooking preference. The Kitchen Aid 5 Speed Blender tackles the toughest food ingredients such as vegetables and nuts with the adaptor motor that maintains optimal speed. The blade cuts food in at four different angles that creates smoother blending of your food. Overall the Kitchen Aid 5 Speed Blender is simple to use with amazing durability as a multi use device that is a great space saver in one trendy design.

I'll start by saying I'm not sure what a good blender vs. a bad blender looks like so I may not be the best review to base your purchase off of. That being said this blender is a breeze to work! I've had it about a month now and only made a handful of smoothies for the kids and some holiday margaritas to survive the relatives on Thanksgiving. The various speeds are great for someone who only needs things blended vs. crushed (as in ice) but I tend to just flip the switch and magic happens. I have not had the blades jam, like my old generic brand blender. All the ice I put in has been crushed to an adequate amount (no huge chunks that assault that back of your throat while finishing off the delicious alcoholic nectar that gets you through your uncle's political rants). I'm very satisfied with this machine, it looks nice, it works great, and it cleans easily in my dishwasher.

This blender like any kitchen aid brand product is very sturdy. The jar is BPA-FREE plastic not glass, I have preferred glass, but plastic is a lot lighter than glass. The dial at the front of the blender is also plastic and doesn’t feel that sturdy however I believe it is built that way because is very easy to move from position to position. By the jar being very light and the dial very easy to move I don’t see any complains with persons that suffers from arthritis to operate this machine that is, if you keep the blender at one part of your kitchen without moving it, because the motor part is a little heavy. You can operate this blender at the traditional 1-5 speeds, 1 being the slowest and 5 being the fastest. It also has a few presets to prepare different kinds of drinks. We use the Ice drink preset to prepare a piña colada which contains ice, coconut cream, and pineapple juice. When you select the ice drink preset and press the Start/stop button it will start operation and the blade will run at different speeds for certain amount of time and it stops by itself when all is done which I found pretty interesting because all the time I have to do everything manually with other blenders. The presets included with this blender are for ice crushing, ice drink, smoothie and clean (to clean the blender jar) and as I said before the 1-5 speed manual operation and also function for pulse operation which is useful to prepare salsa, chopped vegetables etc. items that only requires 2 or 3 seconds in the blender. The blender has a 1200W motor which seems pretty power full for anything you throw at it. I really recommend it.

For years I have had to often deal with chunks of fruit in my homemade smoothies. I know, not a big deal in the context of life, but not something I’ll miss either! I generally just toss a variety of frozen fruit on top of some milk and let it go. This blender can handle my admittedly lazy smoothie approach like a champ! Once the initial big chunks are broken down it starts to create this rolling vortex of blended fruit that is not only a little fun to watch, but results in dare I say…a perfect blend! Oh and if fruit smoothies aren’t your thing, I can also confirm spectacular strawberry margaritas. The blend was so smooth and uniform my girlfriend commented that it’s texture reminded her of an ICEE straight out of the machine. The controls are a bit odd. I refused to read the instructions so it took a little fiddling to figure out what was going on. The blender doesn’t just go full speed right off the bat, which surprised me at me first. However I quickly realized this is fantastic as it prevents splatter. Often I make a smoothie and there isn’t even any residue on the inside of the lid. The base is heavy, and I mean that in a good way. It feels very solid and it doesn’t sound like the motor is ever being stressed or pushed to its limit. I don’t buy kitchen appliances based on looks, ever. But I have to admit I do dig the style of this device as well. All in all I’m very happy with this product and would recommend it to anyone seeking a quality blender.
