The first thing I noticed is the incredible weight of the machine. Has a very sturdy base and screams I'm ready to handle whatever you through at me and indeed I did. From Ice to Vegies to Smoothies and so on. Loved the pulse option and the preset speeds. Love the quick hold and release setting. The 5 speeds have actual noticeable intensities. I like that the pitcher is made from a sturdy plastic making it a lighter weight which is easier to handle when it is full. Also holds quite a bit of product. Even the power cord is heavy duty compared to other blenders that I own. Also Looks wonderful amongst the other appliances in the kitchen. I look forward to hopefully many years of service from this wonderful KithenAid Product

    Excellent Blender, Great Price

The KitchenAid Contour Blender K400 is a very stylish Blender with specs close to that of Vitamix but at about 1/2 the price. I have been using a Vitamix for the past 8 years and I was a little skeptical that this would compare favorably. I mostly use my blenders for smoothies, frozen drinks and desserts, and hot soups. The KitchenAid has 5 variable speed settings so that you can control the speed as well as preset functions for crushing ice, icy drinks, smoothies and cleaning. The first thing we tried was a smoothie using a lot of solid frozen fruit. The Smoothie setting runs for 45 seconds. The result was every bit as good as the Vitamix. The fruit was completely blended with no pieces. Very very smooth. We then tried hot soup blending fresh vegetables. This time I used the variable speed buttons. The result again was excellent. The blender is heavy and appears to be excellent quality. And KitchenAid backs it with a 5 year warranty. The container is 56 oz and is designed to fit under the cabinet. When running at high speed it is somewhat noisy, but actually quieter than the Vitamix. Cleaning is quick and easy. I do wish that a tamper would have been included though I have not yet needed it. Overall I am very happy with this blender and would highly recommend this product.

The base is heavy duty and feels like a professional-grade appliance. I found the pitcher easy to clean and it is also very light weight. The lid is easily removable and doesn't seem to get stuck. The lid also sits well, and I had no leaks when blending. It has manual speed levels 1-5 which allows precise control because you can either set a level and turn it on, or gradually increase the speed according to your demand. Additionally, it has a pulse which goes extra fast (I would use this to break ice). I was able to blend a smoothie in under 45 seconds, and my smoothie was very liquefied by then. As with most blender lids, the center has a cap which comes off to press or insert foods. (tamper not included) It is a bit louder than other blenders I've used in the past. Though it looks relatively small, it holds 56 oz. It is dishwasher-safe. One of the best features is its rubberized handle, which is easy to grip. The pitcher is strong plastic, so I expect it to last a long time but I can't judge that with only a little over a week of owning it. I'd recommend it for everyday use.

This is an extremely nice blender. It's not trying to be anything except a blender. It is simple to use, it looks really nice, and it works great. It just has one knob and one start button. The preset button for smoothie blends all the ice nicely and there aren't random big chunks. The pitcher looks like glass a little, but it is plastic so no worries about dropping and destroying it. The base is heavy duty and definitely goes with our white counter tops and cupboards. I'm definitely happy with this device and would recommend it.

I've already made a couple ice cream shakes, smoothies, and crushed some ice in this blender. Anything I throw in it seems to blend perfectly and fast. The base itself feels super heavy duty and high quality. I would say this is a restaurant quality blender. I love that it has a clean setting, it makes clean up so easy. It also has a feature where it starts out blending slowly and increases it's speed, this helps thoroughly blend everything evenly by sucking it all down to the blades. Highly recommend this blender!

The title says it all. This blender makes quick work out of anything I throw at it. I have made mixed drinks with lots of ice and also blended ingredients for some homemade soups. It crushes ice with ease. Makes my old blender look like garbage. When I mixed ingredients for my soup, it came out with a perfect texture. Not watery or to clumpy. I love this thing. Hands down the best blender I have ever owned.

Looks Good if Motor Doesn't Burn Out

I acquired this Kitchen Aid blender model KSB4027CU because our Vitamix began to choke on smoothies with a lot of frozen fruit—the blades would simply stop turning. This Kitchen Aid blender looked sturdy enough for the job, and when it arrived I was very impressed by the weight of the base, indicating a very powerful motor. The jar is plastic and seemed sturdy enough for that material, although I prefer glass. The blender has an interesting design. The control dial can be turned clockwise to five positions, numbered 1-5, for five manual speeds. They are programmed to run for three minutes. Beyond those positions are four additional settings, marked by little pictures: ice crush, icy drink, smoothie, and clean, programmed to run for 30, 30, 45, and 13 seconds, respectively. I wonder how they decided that 13 seconds was optimal for cleaning. My major intended use for this blender is for smoothies, so I tried that setting first. This only frozen ingredients I included were some frozen leafy greens, and the blender did a beautiful job effortlessly churning up a frothy smoothie. The real test, though, was the kind of smoothie my son likes to make, with a huge amount of frozen berries. Given the amount of frozen material for this test, it seemed that we should probably grind at the ice crush or icy drink setting first before using the smoothie setting. We tried icy drink because the manual lists as suggested items to blend at this setting "ice, whole fruits or vegetables, or frozen fruits." During the blending, the blender was extremely loud and we began smelling a smoky odor. That setting did the job all right, but it was worrisome that the motor seemed to labor so much the very first time we used it. So, it remains to be seen whether this blender follows the same fate as our Vitamix. The clean setting works well, by the way, pulsing for the 13 seconds it takes to clean the jar. I like the concept of a variable-speed blender plus several preprogrammed settings. The one setting that sometimes startles me is the pulse setting, which is one notch counterclockwise from the off position. More than once when I was done blending I tried to turn off the blender by spinning the control dial all the way counterclockwise, which went to the pulse setting. It reminded me of a family car we use to have with the Reverse setting right next to the Drive setting for the automatic transmission, and more than once I accidentally overshot the Drive position from a lower gear, momentarily moving into reverse with the car moving. Fortunately, overshooting to the Pulse setting on the blender is not dangerous like our car's gear shifting, just a little surprising.

This blender is great. It has dedicated buttons for ice, drinks and smoothies. The smoothie/protein shake feature is really handy. The pitcher is lightweight, but the base is really sturdy. There's also a pulse button plus your standard speed options. My only complaint, and it's minor, is that you have to be really careful to get the dial lined up exactly with the function that you want to use. The blender won't run if you're off just a little.

I love blending drinks. Smoothies, adult beverages, etc. Blended beverages are amazing. However, I have never been able to find a blender that was able to handle the ice and ingredients. I even bought a name brand blender made specifically for blending drinks. Nope. Very inconsistent consistency. Enter this KitchenAid blender. Its pretty. Its large, and its simple. Stainless steel on the outside, hulk power on the inside. This blender will blend all the things and do it with ease. Frappe's, smoothie's, whatever. It does it. Over the Thanksgiving holiday my family and I have this blender a workout. One of the tasks this blender was used for was Smoothies, which my previous blender had struggled with. I grinned from ear to ear as I watched this blender turn ice, fruit, yogurt, and anything else we threw in it into a vortex of blended deliciousness. Perfection and speed! If I had to pick anything that I did not like about this blender, it is the analog dial used to adjust your blender settings. The markings blend into the housing pretty well, which at a glance makes it slightly difficult. Also, you can not adjust the blending speed on the fly. You need to turn off the blender and adjust your speed. Overall, if you want a blender that will do everything you want it to while looking stunning, this KitchenAid blender is the end all be all for you.

Was consistently having issues making these new flavored shakes that are all the rage in nutrition clubs popping up everywhere. This blender definitely solved my problems. It's very reminiscent of the professional blenders you see in those shops and seems to work just as well. I was always surprised seeing the square containers but for whatever reason it works much better than my previous circular container. I throw in my dry ingredients for a quick mix and then just straight ice and the results are stellar. Highly recommended!

I read alot of reviews about how powerful this kitchenaid blender is, and had my doubts, but after using it a few times, I must say its a good alternative if you don't want to pay Vitamix prices..I will say, when loading it heavily with frozen fruit and other things to make smoothies, there was a "electrical burit smell" coming from the pitcher, while the machine first struggled to chop up and mix all the stuff that was in the blender, but once it got things mixed up, everything was good. It would have been nice to include a tamper to push the contents down into the blender, instead of making you buy one for 30 dollars, but I guess not everyone buys these for making smoothies. Either way, it works well, is priced alot lower than a Vitamix, and its worth checking out to see if it fits your needs!

Though it might be a bit cliche to receive a blender at a wedding, I didn't get this one till several years later. As a proud owner of this blender, I have never been more impressed by a kitchen appliances. The first thing I made were some frozen drinks for game night and with it's built in drink setting, I didn't have much guess work. The portions for the recipes of course are gonna vary but it came out with the perfect consistency and it also works wonders for smoothies. Ice was no match for the blades and as long as you add soapy water after use, it will even clean itself mostly. A quick rinse and wipe after the cleaning cycle made it ready to go for the next use. The cop has a large capacity and was the perfect size to to accommodate a big group without having to make multiple batches of drinks. It may not have some features that other blenders may have, but KitchenAid made this simple to use while still delivering the quality that they have been known for. Highly recommended for the home chef and professional alike.

We are very happy with our KitchenAid blender. The motor is very strong and cuts through anything we put in it with ease. The speed control makes it really intuitive to get things fully mixed, like when there is a gap in the food. Being plastic, the pitcher is lightweight but feels very sturdy. But, our favorite feature is the self clean cycle which works very well and makes cleanup so easy. It also looks very stylish which is always a plus.
