Mixing bowl not stainless. Stained first use.

I make cookies every year at Christmas time with my sister. Last year she brought her KitchenAid mixer and it made our job so much easier. It is important to note that she got her old (ancient?) mixer at a garage sale for $5.00. Yes, $5.00. Anyway, it was very old and worked so well for being so old that when I saw the BestBuy ad for a KitchenAid mixer, I bought it. Unfortunately, while the unit itself works well, the bowl that comes with it is worthless. It tarnished or stained, and ruined the cookie dough the very first time I used it. While it's supposed to be stainless, I can confirm that it is NOT stainless.

I have always wanted a Kitchenaid mixer and could finally justify the purchase. This a heavy unit, feels very solid and has enough attachments to get started with many recipes right out of the box. The first thing I noticed upon powering this unit up is the noise! Its loud! The first thing I made was a double batch of chocolate chip cookies, it seemed to labor once all the ingredients were mixed in and it was even at capacity. I think for normal household use, this mixer shpuld last long enough to warrant the price. Another thing that wasnt known to me until I registered this for warranty is that Whirlpool now owns Kitchenaid, not Hobart.

    New KitchenAid, Same Problems

I received this new KitchenAid mixer for Christmas; and I must admit, it was on my list. The last one I purchased was 25 years ago. However, the new mixer slings ingredients out of the bowl just as bad as the 25-year old one. The beater bar scrapes the bowl of the new mixer despite using the adjustment screw, which isn't much of an adjustment at all; it's either up or down. I asked for support from the manufacturer and received none, except to use the adjustment screw instructions on the web site. The KitchenAid mixer motors are workaholics; my 25-year old one is still going strong, but I probably will never buy another.

Poor quality control - constant cosmetic issues

Upon opening up the factory sealed box, found paint and finish issues on the item. Returned it for another, which had an unfinished rough edge on the product and other finish issues - for example, the silver metal band was recessed on one side and sticking out on the other. Can't remember if my wife tried a third time but, needless to say, we do not own one of these now. Never even got to try using it so I cannot attest to its performance - but at this price level the item should not have these blatant cosmetic flaws. Wound up buying a Breville BEM825BAL and that looks like it was quality checked by someone who cares.

This helped me make the best German chocolate cake I’ve ever made! The only 2 cons that come to mind is the fact that the head doesn’t tilt and the fact that you have to release the bowl to ensure your batter is completely mixed. There was sugar and butter that settled at the bottom of my batter. Didn’t think it would be that big of a deal (tilt head) but if I had the choice and had experienced the difference I would’ve save the extra money and got the tilt head. A few stirs of the hand wasn’t so bad but for the price I wish Ididn’t have to do anything by hand. Overall it did what it was supposed to and made a happy family.

I love my new mixer, especially on sale half price! We did a LOT of research before making this purchase, as there are more variables on Kitchenaids than meet the eye once you factor in proprietary models and other online or big box sales venues. It can be very difficult to compare apples to apples when googling multiple model numbers, which can also affect replacement parts and/or additional bowls, mixing blades, etc. I was pleased to discover we got a 525-watt motor, rather than the 450 advertised. Kitchenaid customer service explained an upgrade in their design had not yet been updated on the web. There are other models offering more colors or even stronger motors, but on sale, this was by far the most bang for your buck.

I got this mixer because I love to bake. I had a hand held mixer for awhile but it wasn't cutting it, so my husband got this for me. I'm very familiar with the older models as I have worked with them before and was always pleased. This mixer is beautiful and smooth for the most part. I had to adjust it so the paddle wouldn't hit the bottom of the bowl. It works smoothly, being able to have a nice variety of speeds helps, as not all recipes require the same speed. It is not extremely noisy, and is quite easy to clean up. It is a bit heavy, so I would suggest picking a spot for it and leaving it there, while still having access to it instead of putting it away then having to bring it back out when needed. I enjoiy this mixer and would definitely suggest it.

Bought this after returning a Walmart purchased model. Let’s just say don’t ever buy quality items from Walmart. Bestbuy has this on sale and don’t regret buying it one bit! I would have give it 5 stars, but it was struggling trying to knead cookie dough. My family has owned kitchen aid mixers as long as I can remember. All have been powerful and never had a problem with doughs. Making bread was about the same just with a bit more struggle on the motor but still did great. The quality is there and they stand by there product! If something breaks just give them a call and they will usually send a replacement for free.

I have made bread, pie dough, cookies and cakes within the last few weeks after receiving my kitchen aid mixer. Very happy with the ease this mixer is able to handle all recipes I have attempted so far. I would recommend getting the beater with the rubber edges on it as this seems to be my go to beater. Also before using the mixer, I highly recommend a thorough cleaning of the stainless mixing bowl. I used what was suggested which was wiping with olive oil then scouring with baking soda & salt using a nylon bristle brush to remove any substance that might contaminate any mixtures. This worked for me as there seemed to be quite a few complaints regarding food contamination resulting from residue left from the manufacturing process.

KitchenAid makes the best mixers in the market today. There's simply no comparison, and my youngest daughter, who loves to bake, absolutely loves her KitchenAid Professional 5 Plus Series Stand Mixer. It's the holiday season and I think she uses it at least every other day. Thanksgiving was great, she made a cake, several batches of cookies, a cheesecake, and two pies (apple & pumpkin). She's in high school and she's been making a lot of wonderful goodies for her classmates. I purchased her KitchenAid mixer from BestBuy.com and it was delivered two days ahead of schedule, which was great! I order from Amazon Prime a lot and I didn't expect anyone to surpass their 2 day shipping without having paying an arm & a leg to do so. I'll definitely order from Best Buy.com again.

I was excited to receive my first kitchenaid product. However it looked like I gotten a return used unit. Grime on the attachment. (Cleaned off easily chalked it up to shipping) the coating on the beater attachment was peeling away exposing the metal. The fingerprints inside the bowl. Etc. So the kitchenaid I bought to make my thanksgivings pies easier failed and I went to using my trusty $15 handheld. Only reason I spent the money is because my mom who has been using kitchenaid for 50+ years and they still all work and I loved them. I get mine and highly disappointed in the way I received the unit.

We've had a KitchenAid tilt-head mixer for about 40 years, and it's finally showing some wear. Wife wanted a new one, and we found this Pro series lift-bowl mixer on sale. It seems to be a good mixer, but just doesn't seem to be as solid as our old machine. I find I don't like the lift bowl type; it's harder to put on the attachments. Also, I found that it was very difficult to get the bowl locked on correctly. I resolved that by removing the retaining clip and straightening it out some so that it is not as tight. Overall, I'm sure this will be a good mixer for many years, but not sure it's as good as the old models.

This mixer is made with all custom machined steel gears. It won't break down after a couple of years like other mixers. I have family members that still have theirs that they bought in the 1980s. Do not buy of the artisan models, as they have been built with a couple plastic gears inside of them that can break after a couple of years. Yeah you might get a tilting head, but at the cost of a gear breaking after a couple of years. I don't think it's worth the cheaper cost. Research before purchasing if you don't believe me. Also don't spring for the next model up either. For fifty more watts, it's not worth the cost. If I was going to spend more on a Kitchenmaid mixer, I would buy the limited edition diamond collection. It is numbered and is beautiful.

We have been married for 42 years and have always had this workhorse on our counter raising three boys. This one was bought for our youngest who is in graduate school and asked for it. He is the only one who didn't have one. The whole family grew up with this reliable machine and all four houses have one in their kitchen. Us, 42 years, no we have a "new" one that we bought a few years ago to replace the original. Our cars don't last this long AND they don't make bread, cakes, etc.. but this brute does. Every time. Great machine and a great price.

You really can't beat (No pun intended) Kitchen Aid mixers, with the the power and accessory's available, they are top of the line, the one I purchased is the pro model with the metal attachments, there is a sub model that comes with plastic attachments and I don't know if I would go that route as with some stiff dough I don't know how they hold up. These really are the best of the best, and have had no problems with mine. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the manufacture only gave the product a one year warranty, and I believe if your sure about your product you give it a little bit longer then 1 year. Also the next attachment I will buy is the grinder, and then I will really put it to the test.

What a machine it is. So powerful it's like cut my preparation down a lot when mixing, etc. it's totally worth getting a bigger wattage motor and unit itself. I can wait to use it each time!! It has the 3 attachments, wisk, dough hook, paddle. I got the black color and man does it look so good on the counter top. It's tall and big but every time I go by it my head turns and says what a Beauty. I had a smaller Kitchenaid for 14 years and in great condition yet so I passed it down to my Daughter, she's happy!! So far it's been great using it. So glad I made this choice!!!!

I bought 3 of these on black Friday to give as Xmas gifts. I ended up keeping one because my daughter-in-law had already bought herself one before Thanksgiving. The quality has gone so far downhill, it wouldn't be worth $100, much less $200. About 25% of the time the switch doesn't work. Beater doesn't reach bottom even if you adjust it. And the bowl has dark scratches around the rim as if it's not really stainless. And it's loud. My old Kitchen Aid cost less and worked like my friend. I may give this one to Goodwill and go back to my old one. It's only 22 years old.

I have been researching Kitchen Aid mixers for a few months & seeking the advice of friends/family as to which design I should get: bowl lift or tilt. Best Buy had the best deal as compared to other retailers. I love the attachments & the power & speed. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the bowl can sometimes be difficult to get into the cradle correctly. There is a tab at the back of the bowl and two posts on either side that the bowl must be fitted into just right in order to secure the bowl. The tab can be difficult to get the bowl situated into just right. Other than that minor detail I love my new mixer & cant wait to get some more attachments & try some new recipes!

I have wanted one for YEARS but I couldn't justify the cost. My husband saw them on sale and bought this for me for Christmas. I LOVE it. It's simple to use and the attachments are very easy to put on and take off. My only dislike is the bowl. 1, it is difficult to attach, but that may change over time and 2, I wish it had measurements in it for ease of use. But kneading dough with the dough hook is fantastic and there are many recipes on line that use the KitchenAid mixer so the instructions are precise. I can't wait to get some of the attachments that will make things even easier, but they are costly as well so it might be some time before that. Until then I will mix, beat and knead with ease!

I bought this when my older kitchen aid broke. I was so excited about the newer model but it's kinda letting me down. It barely mixed cold butter and when I sped it up a little it flung globs of butter everywhere. Once it was mixed it was on the edges of the bowl and wouldn't mix in anymore. I would scrape down the bowl and everything would end up on the sides not getting mixed again. When I was done making the cookies I took it off the stand and the whole bottom of the bowl had dry ingredients that weren't mixed in. I think we repaired my 18 yr old Kitchen aid, if it works this one is going back. It might be going back even if my old one isn't fixed.
