I’m very pleased with this purchase. I’m definitely a long time appreciator of fine coffee but pretty amateur barista and I was shocked at the quality of shots I was able to pull. Plus everything is pretty adjustable or customizable down to the size of the shot. Invest in a distributor/palm tamper and you won’t regret it.

This is an espresso machine for people who really don’t use semi-auto espresso machines. It’s difficult to manipulate it’s more like an automatic and produces WEAK espresso. Muight as well buy a coffee maker. The wand is utterly annoying because you have to hold the cup up to froth. Frothing takes forever and the noise it makes is atrocious. I had a bee vile before this but didn’t want to drop another $700 since it burned up after about 5 years. I may just go back to a regular coffee machine. Espresso is like having a cigarette habit.

This is really great for someone who doesn't have to be "fancy" all the time and show off their machine that costs over $1000. It comes with enough accessories and options to make anything that you want. Seems well built.

The espresso is great however the automatic milk frother is not very good. There is a version without it which is what I would recommend to a friend. Got it on a good sale so I am still very happy with the purchase

I bought this expresso and returned it because it came broken. It was very complicated to use. I bought another one, simple and less expensive than this one and makes the same quality expresso.

I haven’t had this item long, about an hour total. Of course, I opened it immediately (1 am) and thought “you have to try it, you know you won’t sleep until you do”. So, with that, I decided to brew my first espresso, using freshly ground espresso beans, and pulled a double shot. It was MAGICAL. What was even more magical? The FLAVOR. The RICHNESS. The SMOOTHNESS. The best dang coffee I’ve ever made/ever had. I added a little creamer, amazing. I added ice and milk, amazing. Long story short; buy it, use it, love it. There’s no other way.

The design of the espresso machine is nice. It looks cool and fits easily on my countertop. Living in an apartment, I like the compact size as it doesn’t take up a lot of room. The wand and espresso tamper had a really nice weight to it and were made out of a nice metal. One of the beautiful things about making espresso with one of these machines is being involved in the process of making it. If you’re a beginner to the hobby, there are some really nice features here if you’re just getting started on your espresso making journey. The kit includes double-walled inserts which are great for beginners. In my opinion, the single-walled inserts will ultimately pull a better shot but they are much more finicky than the double-walled, which will make sure you get a nice layer of crema every time. Kitchenaid also made the machine easy to use by offering a straightforward system of how to select your operation: simply select how many shots you packed and hit start. I liked that the included user manual also provided clear instructions on how to use the machine. The milk frothing wand attachment works great. I personally prefer a milk alternative (almond or coconut milk) and it was able to heat up and froth it nicely. While the automatic milk frother was a nice bonus that offered an easy way to froth milk, I personally prefer using the frothing wand as I like to have more control over the level of froth I produce. The most important thing to mention here is that the shots this espresso machine produces taste wonderful. I drink coffee and espresso every day, I’d consider myself a bit of a coffee connoisseur, and this has replaced my habit of going to the coffee shop on a regular basis.

Frother is totally useless...unless you like warmed, watery milk. The manual steam wand works if you want to futz around for 90seconds frothing your milk. The espresso shots were atrocious. I'm not sure I've had worse...ever. Maybe I needed to waste hours trying ever different grinds and amounts to get a good shot. Forget that. If you like to spend 10 min making a single cup of coffee that tastes like crap, this machine's for you. At least the build quality is solid I guess. Yippee.

I've adjusted my coffee ground 3 times in effort to have crema on my expresso. In not quit there yet. My previous brand gave me better results. Also I'm not getting much froth on my milk. Perhaps i need more practice.

Honestly its a great beginners machine if u are trying to learn and practice ur skills of expert coffee making. Although the wand doesn’t warm the milk enough and sometimes even after frothing for a long time the milk is cold

The epresso machine works great and makes fantastic coffee. The milk frother is more of a hassle to use than expected, and often I use a different frother.

    Excellent Semi-Automatic Espresso Maker

The KitchenAid Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine offers lots of features in a sturdy, small package, plus great-tasting espresso and cappuccino. You can dispense single- or double-shot espresso just a few minutes after turning on the machine. Unboxing is straightforward. The packaging is purpose-made, recyclable inserts in a recyclable retail box, which fits snugly in a recyclable shipping box. The espresso machine and water tank are assembled, and the milk frother attachment has its own inner box. All you need to do is "plug" the milk frother attachment into the side of the espresso maker. If you prefer to froth milk yourself or to dispense hot water for café Americano, tea, or cocoa, you can use one of the two steam wands in place of the milk frother attachment. The KitchenAid Semi-Automatic Espresso Maker controls allow you to set the number of shots to dispense (1 or 2), adjust the water temperature, and froth milk (or dispense steam or hot water). The water tank is ample and easy to remove for filling. The machine comes with four different ground coffee inserts; single and double shot-capacity for both home-ground coffee beans and ground store-bought coffee. Choose the insert for your needs, fill it with coffee, and use the included tamper. Put this in the portafilter handle and attach it to the machine's brewing head. Press the button and start brewing. My friend says the cappuccino from the KitchenAid Espresso Maker is on par with her much more expensive, much larger, fully automatic espresso maker. Pros: - Short heating cycle makes expresso quickly. - Heavy-duty machine, portafilter handle, and coffee grounds baskets. - Selection of four portafilter baskets. - Slim design takes up little counter space and fits beneath kitchen cabinets. - Automatic milk frother or steam wand. - Well-designed and easy to use. - Has cleaning cycle; easy to wipe off brewing head after use. - Use just about any type of coffee beans (grind your own whole beans; requires a separate grinder). Cons: -The portafilter (handle) inserts are tight and need to cool before you can remove the grounds and make another espresso. - If you have leftover milk in the frother, you need to remove the frother and/or tank and refrigerate it. I recommend this machine for someone who appreciates great espresso and cappuccino, and who does not want or need a fully automatic espresso maker.
