Great if you like wasting money.Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I purchased this item because I was going to be away in the Mojave desert for 4 days, with absolutely no contact with civilization and wanted to continue to use my phone for photos and communication for the duration of my stay. Solar panels seemed like a smart buy, being in the desert I was sure to get all the sun I could ever want, and more. I charged the device overnight at home via USB as the instructions recommend, and it worked fine. Using my phone as an MP3 player on the flight out and as a GPS once I'd landed in California drained my battery fairly well, and I needed my phone to be working when I arrived at my destination because it contained the ticket to the event I was attending, so I was able to charge my phone partially, and a friend's phone also partially before draining all the power from the charger. No problem, I thought. The sun will provide me and my friends with all our phone charging needs, right? WRONG. I was able to squeeze out probably around 2-5% of battery for my phone every couple of hours, and the way smartphones suck down battery, that just wasn't cutting it. I'd also had the genius idea to charge a couple of bucks to other people attending for phone charges, so this also ruined that idea. To summarize, this product is okay for a one time charge if you've charged it from USB in advance, but completely worthless if you want to rely on solar power.

Solar charger|Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I had read various reviews on other solar charges, none good. I was hoping that with three panels this would be the exception. Perhaps Vermont does not have enough sun to charge this. I have used the USB port to charge it, but It would be as simple to charge my phone, book, etc directly. I'm sorry that I spent the money for this product.
