The distinctive Klipsch sound never disappoints

Let me preface this review by saying I've been a devoted Klipsch fan since my purchase of a pair of RF-7's some years ago. Even though this HTB set wasn't connected to a receiver at my local Best Buy I had no worries about taking them home. After connecting them to my Denon AVR-1316 amp and callibrating them to my room using the manual distance feature in the setup GUI, I used a "Transformers" blu-ray disc to let them show me just how well they could perform using True Dolby-HD coding. Unreal! The heavy thud of each Autobots footsteps reverberated through the room and every laser gun shot ricocheted from the back to the front and left to right on the surrounds. Next I inserted "Downton Abbey" season 1 for a more subtle test. The trademark Tractrix mini-horns in the center channel delivered dialog perfectly, while the surrounds created the subtle atmosphere from the quieter musical soundtrack. Be sure and turn the phase dial located on the rear of the subwoofer completely to the 180 degree setting. This allows for easier volume control to suit your ear. Gushing reviews can tend to put the reader off, but take heart while reading this. If you value an immersive experience from your home theater system at a reasonable price, you've found it in the Klipsch HD-500.

This is my first review on Best Buy and I don't normally participate, but I thought I needed to give my feedback on this one. Overall, this system is awesome. The sattelite speakers are amazing. I've owned many different mid priced home audio systems in the past, including Polk Audio, JBL, Cerwin Vega, but never Klipsch. In my opinion this system has the best sattelite speakers I've ever heard (I'm sure there are better ones out there for more $$). I have these paired with a Pioneer VSX-1020 receiver and the high and mid frequencies are amazing. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the sub woofer. I don't know what Klipsch was thinking when they decided to include a 100 watt 8" sub with this speaker package. I was skeptical when I bought it, but trusted it would be a high end product, making up for its size and wattage. I was wrong. It is way too small and doesn't have enough volume nor does it hit hard enough to do the rest of the system justice. Rather than take it back, I decided to replace the sub with another since the satellites are so awesome. I found a 10", 200w Polk Audio sub that sounds very good with the speakers.

I shopped around for months before buying these speakers. I was nervous after I bought them, but as soon as I had them all hooked up and heard the sound, I had no regrets at all. I have them paired up with a pioneer 820 and everything sounds great from music to sports, but they really shine with video games or action movies. Unless you have a living room or theater the size of an actual movie theater, I think they have plenty of power. Like other people have mentioned, the only drawback I noticed is the speaker wire connection. It really should be the post style connectors, not spring loaded, but unless your gonna keep unhooking and reconnecting the speakers, it shouldn't make much of a difference in sound quality. I know what it feels like to shop for a sound system. Its really difficult because you can't go and listen to a lot of speakers and its hard to compare them, plus sound is so subjective its hard to say which one is the best or listen to other peoples' opinions. That said, I don't think anyone would have any regrets after buying this system. You could spend thousands of dollars more and only see a slight improvement.

Everyone that rated this gave great comments. I had to try it out for myself. When I saw the pricedrop from 599 to what it is now (buying in online) it was a complete still. I am not sure if I can state the price but its way way lower than you'd think. I can't believe it still has a price drop and I bought mine back in June. This system sounds great. The satellites have a good weight to them. The mirror finish stands out and goes nicely with my setup. The Sub is awesome. Set it right so that it won't distort and the whole setup blends smoothly. Good things do come in small packages. The warranty speaks for itself. Quality made products have good warranties and most of time it means the company stand behind its products. The only problem with the system is the speaker connections, they are fragile. They should have been post connections instead of spring loaded. So be careful when inserting the wire. I am running 16awg so this was partly my problem. 18awg would have been easier. Would I buy again. Yep, I sure will.

I was a little hesitant before going to Best Buy and listening to the speakers. In the past, I have purchased tower speakers and have spent thousands on equipment so my standards are high. When I heard the Klipsch speakers paired next to the Bose they blew me away. Klipsch system is cheaper but the sound and quality are at the same level or beyond the Bose system. I bought the speakers home and hooked everything up in the same day. Note, I hooked them up to old cineamatic Yamaha receiver and the sound blew me and my family away. This system is awesome and the sub hits hard and compliments the smaller speakers well. Awesome buy. If you are looking for a system that packs a punch with great sound quality this system is it. You will feel good that you did not spend thousands.

I've had this HTiB for about a month now and I've been very pleased with it so far. I replaced an old Samsung HtiB, let me tell you the difference is night and day between the two. I have this paired with a Yamaha RX-V667 receiver and am using Monster XP speaker wire. This is perfect for a small to mid-size room, it is powerful without being overwhelming. There are two issues I do have: one being spring clips used for the satellite speakers (binding posts would have been nice at this price point) but this is not a big issue and the second being the subwoofer. I agree with the past few reviewers the sub is a bit underpowered but it can kick hard if turned past halfway but it is the only weak point of this system. The sub is fine but if you are looking for window shaking bass in a mid-size room you may be slightly disappointed.

I have enjoyed these speakers for almost one year now. They sound amazing and look amazing mounted on the walls. They deliver crisp, clean sound while watching movies and listening to music. The subwoofer delivers clean bass, making movies and music sound awesome. Recently, after almost one year of daily use, I had one speaker blow out. I never max them out and my Yamaha receiver is matched to the speakers. None of the other speakers seemed to have any problems. I was happy to know Klipsch has a 5-year warranty on the speakers. I sent the speakers back today through Best Buy with no hassles. My biggest problem now is dealing with the audio from my TV speakers until my Klipsch speakers get back!

I heard these at a show, they were really amazing for a small speaker system. Usually I'm not impressed by satellite systems, they sound small or flat, these had really good sonic depth and great clarity. Usually what bothers me about sub/satelite systems is that all the midrange stuff sounds like the info is coming out of a box. These speakers actually seem like they are beyond the size of those little boxes. I have owned loor standing, fulll range speakers made by Klipsch for many years. Back in 1996, these guys cost me #1200, and for years I have been looking for a satellite/sub system that might give me back part of my rooom, these maybe the ones. Large flosr standing speakers are usually much higher output, mine are higher output than anythng sold at Best buy, but I can give up that few exrea dbor a much more appeasing look, and an open, airy quality usually reserved for big soeakers.

I have to say I was skeptical about getting these surround sound speakers over other ones I was looking at (Polk Audio), but when I hooked these up to my Onkyo TXNR709 receiver, I was blown away. The sound output is amazing, especially for my living room. I have them in an area that is bigger than other living room areas, but the quality for the price can't be beat. When I utilize the different surround sound options from the recevier you can really tell the difference. The satellite speakers provide great highs and the sub-woofer definitely delivers the bass for a great movie-watching e Watching movies at the house is now more of a theatre experience more than ever, all I need is the popcorn. If you are in the market for speakers that give you that theatre experience look no further. You can't go wrong with these

I've had this speaker setup for about one month now (My 1st 5.1 setup) and they are amazing. I live in a small townhouse, so I wasnt looking for anything too big. Once installed and calibrated with my reciever (Harman Kardon AVR-2600) the sound was crisp and clear and the bass is awesome. The install took a bit longer than I expected because I didnot want any speaker wire exposed. The speakers appear to be just floating on my wall! (I love the small footprint!) I coupled this purchase with the Monster XP (100' Spool, I used every last inch too!) as well as a Monster 12' Subwoofer cable. (Both products listed below) Again a great buy for the budget-minded.

Despite me not give this product 5 stars all across the board these speakers do sound great. The mids and highs are crisp considering the size of the satelite speakers and have no complaints. The reason for the 4 stars is because of the subwoofer. When having the volume turned up to a decent listening level you can hear distortion as though the woofer is being over worked. This system is great for small/medium rooms but if you want to crank up the volume for your favorite blockbuster then I would recommend a bigger sub.

For the price, this system is fantastic. I have it connected to a Pioneer VSX-1020 receiver, and the sound is phenomenal. Other reviewers have mentioned a brutal set-up, clumsy or inadequate speaker wire connectors, etc. I'm using 16 gauge speaker wire, and have had no problems with inserting the wire, or getting it to stay in place. The subwoofer set-up is also extremely easy. Just follow the four step directions and you are good to go! I am very pleased with this purchase, and the sound that this set-up delivers.

I bought the set just before Christmas. In February I noticed one of the rear speakers was not putting out much volume so I returned it. Everything was OK for a few days then the other rear speaker began acting up, making a really annoying crackling sound. I moved it to a different position to rule out the receiver or wiring, it is the speaker. One thing you should be aware of, if you buy Klipsch speakers from Best Buy you don't get the Klipsch warranty. The Best Buy Geek Squad handles the warranty. This is especially frustrating to me since the Klipsch speakers replaced a pair of Pioneer HPM-100s that are over 30 years old and have never had a single problem.

This product is a great value. Why spend more on a whole home theater system when you can get a great system with a great sub? The system is plenty loud for my purposes. I paired it with a Yamaha RX-V665 receiver and couldn't be happier! Also, the warranty is GREAT. 5 whole years! If you bought it from Best Buy they will honor the manufacturer's warranty, just keep your receipt! You can also go through Klipsch directly, they have an excellent track record for customer service and support.

I have this home theater set tied to my Onkyo tx-nr609 receiver. It's been about three months now, and I absolutely LOVE the sound. I wouldn't consider myself to be the most knowledgable or dedicated to the home theater experience, but this was something I put a lot of research into. The sound coming out of these speakers are great. Use it with a blu-ray with uncompressed audio and they'll knock your socks off. :) Some reviews talk harshly of the subwoofer, but in a wide open basement, this woofer engulfs the space; I can't imagine if the space was smaller.

I bought this set up and a Yamaha rx-v465 to replaced a bose 321 system. Let Me tell you the change is inmense, I thought that it will have some distortion compare to the bose.It is satisfying to install a system and work as you expect it to do. By the way set up was easy as long as you READ the instructions. Great buy I acquire it when it was on sale and got an extra 10% off (cover taxes), you can't go wrong with this set up.

I'm not the most knowledgeable person about these things, home theater, but I can honestly say I am verry satisfied with my purchase of these speakers. They sound great, often time life-like, and I don't think there are many bargans in the speaker department that can top this one. I'm glad to have chosen this speaker system over the Bose, two for $600.00 option. Bose are great speakers as well, but I think with Klipsh, you get "more bang for your buck" without having to sacrifice much sound quality...

Great speakers for the money. Very small and not intrusive. You could spend more and get better sound but why? I paired this set with Sony's 7.2 receiver and used an onkyo sub from my old HT and it sounds great. The Klipsch sub is ok but not enough for me so 7.2 comes in handy. The highs and mids are clear. Frankly, for small speakers I do not think anyone could ask for more. See my review for Sony's receiver for a little more input if needed.

Just to find a Klipsch 5.1 set w/ a powered sub at this price is a feat in itself...and then to actually hook them and HEAR THEM??? All I can say is WOW, IM IMPRESSED. Klipsch simply does not make an inferior product across their entire product lineup! UNBEATABLE FOR THE PRICE! NO COMPARISON IN THIS RANGE!

Klipsch HD Theater 500 is an excellent upgrade for an existing 5.1 Surround Stereo. Delivers clean crisp sound with a minimal footprint. Set was easy, though speaker mounts could be better designed. Whether it's Blu-Ray, CD, or Gaming, you'll love the quality of sound these speakers deliver. An excellent value.
