I purchased this receiver to replace a 10+ year old one of the same brand. I read many reviews on this model and felt that it would be the perfect unit to match up with my Klipsch HDT 600 5.1 speaker system. I was not disappointed. The feature set is extensive. However, Yamaha has made a choice to simplify a lot of the settings to promote ease-of-use. I am a tinkerer by nature and prefer to have the option to change everything, though this receiver tends to make the best decisions for you in these cases. As I use the receiver more and more finely adjust things, it is turning into a really outstanding performer. The sound quality and power output of this receiver is quite adequate. I am pushing the 5.1 speaker system mentioned above as well as two Definitive Technology BP-8020ST floorstanding speakers for a total of 7.1 (or 7.3 if you count the DT-BP-8020STs). The receiver has plenty of power to handle all of this and retains great signal even at higher volumes. The YPAO automated system calibration effectively measures the position of your speakers using the YPAO microphone (provided) and automatically adjusts the distance, gain, and EQ settings for each speaker. This feature is quite accurate and really did a great job of setting up my system. I only wish that the YPAO equalizer had a wider range of presets to use instead of the three provided. You can, however, copy one of the presets to the manual configuration and adjust the EQs for each speaker manually. The interface to do so is cumbersome and time-consuming. Yamaha should really devise a simpler way to make these adjustments. There are several ways you can configure this receiver depending on how many speakers you have. You can use "presence" speakers, which are essentially something that Yamaha uses to provide more ambient sounds from your front range. If you want to use dual-zone, you will lose your presence speakers and will get a 2.1 second zone. You can also choose to have a 5.1 setup that uses bi-amping in the front channel. This is running two of the internal amps to each of your front L/R channels if the speakers support bi-wiring. Finally, you can go with the standard 7.1 setup which adds two rear speakers firing forward at the back of the listener. I'm currently using the presence setup which really sounds great and adds a lot of depth to movies, but plan to use the 2 zone setup when I redo my back patio area. The number of inputs on this receiver are many and offer a lot of flexibility in how you configure your entertainment center. You can bind the inputs to one of the four quick scene buttons so you can quickly view the inputs you want with a single button. I find this feature to be a bit inconsistent, however. I can set the "TV" button to use the HDMI2 for both audio and video, yet when I press the button on the remote, it will often use the AV1 input for audio instead. So I will end up with video and no audio. This is remedied by pressing the button a second time, but defeats the purpose of setting the quick button. It's possible I've done something wrong but it's hard to imagine doing so when one only has to hold the button down for a few seconds to bind it to the configuration being viewed. Otherwise, this receiver provides some future proofing in that it also supports 4K HD signals and has an upgradeable firmware. Updates come frequently as I have received two since purchasing is about a month ago. Yamaha has done a good job giving you the ability to configure this receiver in many different ways. You can do so via the remote and front display, the on-screen display, your web browser, or an app on your mobile phone or tablet. I find it discouraging that the features you can adjust via the web browser or mobile app is so limited. Yamaha should really realize the potential here and provide these interfaces with the ability to change the settings that are more difficult with the remote (i.e. YPAO EQ settings). Hopefully they do this and send an update to enable such changes. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase. I really wanted to upgrade my 10+ year old setup with a mid to high end one without breaking the budget. Combined, I spent around $2500 (about $1000 more than I had hoped) to replace everything in my living room including connectors and wires. I was a little apprehensive at first because I didn't intend to spend that much. My wife was very skeptical considering how much I spent as well. After I got everything set up perfectly and tuned things to their optimal levels, I was immediately justified on what I spent. My wife finally "got it" when she sat down and watched a Blu-ray movie with me. Explaining to her that this will be our entertainment center for the next decade or so helped her see the value in the purchase. This receiver happens to be one of the shining stars in my setup, second only to the Definitive Technology BP-8020ST floor speakers. However, they wouldn't sound as great as they do without this receiver pushing the juice it does.

    Sound Troubles

Well I thought I would try Klipsch. The first set of HD Theater 600 speakers I got I found that the center channel actually buzzed badly when certain male voices would speak. Very annoying. So I took the set back and got a new set. I still dont feel as though the center channel is clear and at times sounds muddy and not powerful enough - it leaves me wanting or annoyed depending on the murkiness. Im surprised that no one else has heard this. The other speaks are very loud - I do find that the high frequencies are "pinched?" in a sweet spot or in a standing wave or something. It can be annoying, ive been tweaking my system for weeks trying to find the right EQ and Dolby surround settings to help. Also the Subwoofer I find bottoms out and distorts when i least expect it. I still like the the system but I think my other system which is made up of Panasonic fronts and surrounds and a Pioneer Subwoofer was much cheaper and sounds better to my ears and I didnt have to tune the system other than the initial setup process. My 2 cents anyway. I base my two star rating on the price/value factor and overall quality - I was expecting much more from a system this expensive.

Bought this for my pre-wired home theater room. Needed to be compact with great sound. Most importantly, needed the center channel to have a thread mount for a single wall plate mount. Looks and sounds awesome! Extremely happy with this purchase. Although I simply tried the 8" sub that it comes with and sounds good. But I already knew that I'd be happier with a 12" sub instead. Not disappointed with the Klipsch sub, respectfully a 12" is better. I want my front door knocker to vibrate!!! (Wife isn't happy about that) ; ) These sats look incredibly nice if you wall mount them. Key is to find a quality speaker mount that comes with a wall plate with a wire hole in it and a quality receiver like the Sony STR-DN1040 to adjust specific speakers and then some. For me this combo plus a 70" Sharp Aquos Quattron is insanely nice!

First off, I would never pay $600 plus tax for this system. I did however get very lucky with a deep discount and paid slightly over $250 for this set up. I did buy it at a brick and mortar Best Buy store, not on the internet. Was just a lucky day for me and what luck it was... This set of speakers is so easy on the ears. I run them high passed at 90Hz and the sub does a great job filling in the low side. The sub gets pretty deep for having an 8" driver and a large port provided you set it up properly. The main speakers needed no EQ'ing and sound great with the amp at a flat setting. Break in time is minimal and they work for music too, but they really shine when reproducing movie soundtracks. There are better options for $600 (especially since it includes no wire at all), but for $250 this is the ticket.

Quailty Speakers With Terrible Set UP

First of all these speakers are great, and paired with my Xbox One they combine for a quality home theater. However, setting these speakers took many weekends out of my life. I am very good with setting things up on my own, and rarely need instructions. This came with possibly the most useless instructions ever, it is just pictures, also it came with no cables. Luckily I had some and after a trip to Valu I had everything I needed, so I thought. Well after frustrating hours of trying to get the back speakers into the wall I was on the verge of defeat, It took all my patience to keep trying. I just gave up. Fast Forward 2 weekends, I was about ready to return these speakers, but I kept trying, finally I somehow managed to slide them into the wall. There is a very illogical process in doing so and not much thought when into the design. Overall, these speakers are great and if you have the time to set up you wont be disappointed.

I had been saving up money for new speakers for a while and had been set on getting a Bose system. Once I started doing research I found that the sound quality of Bose is not comparable to the price. I read many good reviews about Klipsch, the only bad thing I read was that it might be too much sound for a small room. I was able to get Best Buy to price match the speakers and ended up saving $200. It was the first time I had ever tried to do that, and was very impressed with the process once I got past the automated phone system. Everyone that comes over compliments our new system. I purchased a Yamaha receiver also from Best Buy and the two make a perfect pair. What impresses me most is how clear voices sound in movies and on cable. I used to think my hearing was going bad cause I would have trouble hearing dialogue, but now I know it was just my inferior sound bar muddling the clarity.

Exceptional 5.1 Home Theater system that delivers

Found this great set on a discount at Best Buy. It delivers the solid sound that Klipsch is known for. The HDT600 comes with bigger satellite speakers and subwoofer than its entry level HD300 5.1 Home Theater system that customers like. These deliver just like those and more with the bigger pieces of equipment. I hook mine up with thick 12 guage speaker wire. With a decent receiver like the Onkyo R2295 sold at Best Buy, you turn up the volume and these HDT600 home theater speakers deliver. If you have tried a cheap boom box with thin speaker wire and cheap speakers, and turn up its sound, you see how its gets distorted. With this Klipsch HDT600, you get solid clarity. They are easy and basic to set up. Nothing special to do.

I walked into Best Buy, stood at the front door and someone was playing a sub really loud. I could almost feel it, so I went to the back where they were playing this setup. I bought ours as a open box item. I saved a hundred dollars or so. It had everything in it and as though it was never set up, it still had all the rubber feet to put on everything. the sub is just perfect, wife is always telling me to turn it down! I kinda wish we had the 12 inch sub but this one is awesome. I would recommend it to friends family or a sister that was looking to get one!!

I bought this set to replace a set of Boston Acoustics towers I've had for 20 years. I paid $800 for them, but they sound better than the Klipsch system. My main critical point is the crossover area from the sats to the sub. I've done a lot of adjusting, and just can't find the right blend of equalization and crossover settings to make them fit together. I compared the system to a Logitech Z906 system ($350 elsewhere, and includes amplification), and the Logitech is far more appealing to listen to, despite a higher cutoff of low bass. The Klipsch system looks much better. If you're using your TV speakers to watch movies, do yourself an enormous favor and buy these with a receiver. If you already have such a setup, I'd recommend giving them a listen first.

I ordered these on Black Friday weekend for a great price, and I am not disappointed. I paired these with a Sony str dn840 receiver, and I am enjoying these Best buy purchases. These speakers sound great in my 16x20 living room. I have the front speakers, center speaker, and subwoofer hooked up now. They are really starting to even sound better after a month of break in. The rear surround speakers will be wired in later, and I am looking forward to that. The connectors on the rear of the speakers do not take banana plugs however the wire clips seem very durable. I am sure I could have purchased bigger speakers and spent more money for better sound, but for the size and price these are pretty impressive.

I replaced my old Radio Shack surround sound system with this one. I am powering the speakers with an Onkyo 7.1 surround sound system. I was happy with my old system but, my Sony surround sound amp started acting up so I replaced it with the Onkyo. Then I replaced my speakers with the Klipsch system and quite frankly, I was blown away by the clean sound and the power of the sub woofer. The speakers can handle everything the Onkyo amp can throw at them. Very sleek, clean mounts as well. Over all I highly recommend these speakers to any home owner looking for an excellent, reasonably priced surround sound speaker system. I Love It !!!

I bought this set of surround speakers to replace an aging set of Sony speakers. I have read up and reviewed Klipsch speakers and know how well made the speakers are. I was very happy with both the packaging and ease of installment. The speakers even included screws that were very useful during the install. The included subwoofer sounds great and is very sufficient for the size of the room it is in. Overall, I am very pleased with the sound quality of this set as it has vastly improved the tv watching experience from the old speakers I once had.

I grabbed these on sale during Black Friday week. The savings were just too good to pass up. I don't know much about speaker quality and brands, but I know when stuff sounds good, and with these my stuff sounds good. Whether its The Dark Knight Triolgy, or my Enter the Dru Album, these speakers deliver. My girlfriend is convinced our downstairs neighbors hate us because of how powerful it can be when I crank it up. I really lucked out with this set. *One side-note, they'd be difficult to set up for the uninitiated.

Do yourself a favor and buy good quality speaker wire. I bought 14 gauge wire and it just barely fits into the connectors on the speakers. You will also need a sub cable. Overall the set is more than i could have asked for, especially for the deal I scored on them. Decent to Good sound. My biggest complaint is that the surround speakers have a limited degree of sound projection. There is a noticeable sound difference within a few degrees of listening angles. Current set up that seems to work is with the front surround speakers below ear level.

I had Geek installation and was very impressed, both with knowledge and professionalism. I have been very happy with my Klipsch 600 series speakers which are powered by Yamaha RX-V475. Installed in my mobile home living room utilizing the limited space so I was suspect for the outcome. Sports and Movies have been a pleasure to watch with excellent surround and base that is quite impressive. The determining factor would be "Would I do it again?" And the answer is a resounding "Yes."

I am a bit of audiophile snob. I have a B&W system for my main entertainment package. I bought this for the entertainment/media room where my kids mostly hang out and watch movies and play video games. I'm really impressed withe sound quality. Not a B&W system, but really good value for the money, and frankly, I'm not sure I could even tell the difference between these and Bose or any other premium system, including my own B&W system...LOL!

I received these speakers as a gift because I wanted to mount smaller surround sound speakers on the wall (replacing the 12 year old set of Kenwood speakers I'd been using). These fit the bill perfectly (they came with mounting brackets). The sound is great for the small room I have them in and they work wonderfull; I really like the small size and look of these speakers and the big sound (once again for the small room I have them in).

I have these speakers hooked up in my bedroom and use them for TV, CD, DVD and radio. The sound is very versatile for each of the applications and is clean and pure. From classical to hard rock the performance is excellent. Would consider another set for the living room to replace my surround sound there as well. No tininess to the speakers and the sub-woofer is good to excellent. For the price these can't be beat.

I was pleasantly suprised to find out the Quality of sound from this sytem on a regular TV channel let alone when watching movies. Even my dogs perk up at sounds we couldn't hear before. I would highly recommend the Klipsch Home theater system.

I replaced some very inexpensive speakers with these. I use them in my mancave, and must say the deep lows are impressive (can shake the house) and the highs are just right. Very easy to set up! I used a Rocketfish wireless system for both my rear speakers and sub! I am amazed at the distortion free sound of these little beauties!!
