    Bad Experience...Go with something Nicer

Okay.... I bought these speakers and hooked them up to my Onkyo Tx-SR806.... Boy was i expecting more.....These speakers had trouble holding volumes at high levels.... nasty...... I was wondering if i made the wrong purchase so i decided to do some research off of klipsch...i then got this disturbing email and acted quick. The Klipsch Representative Emailed me back and this is what he said and this is his reply: "The ICON V series is built only for Best Buy. These are $949 at retail, similar story to the SYNERGY series, the components are not the quality of either Reference or the ICON Wood series or X series. Also the Bottom grill that covers the woofers is fixed and not removable, that tell you anything? The V series uses paper cones for the woofer and Aluminum for the horn, on Reference the woofer is Cerametalic (Aluminum that is Anodized) and the Horn is Titanium, on the WF34 and 35 they are real wood veneer and woven fiberglass woofers with Titanium Horns. The woven fiberglass woofers are very robust and actually cost more than the Reference woofers. In the Reference line the RF82 for $1100 retail would smoke the VF36 in both output and sound quality, much better materials and bigger cabinet, better bracing and twin 8” woofers, compared to three 6.5” woofers. The WF34 at 1199.might not have quite the output but would sound MUCH better or WF36 at 1499 would also smoke these, more output MUCH better sound quality and very nice wood cabinet." Do some more research before you buy... Try polk or the Klipsch reference series

Saw these speakers on clearance....so randomly picked them up to replace JBL E80 towers. Right out of the box they are packaged well and the speakers are very handsome and their size says POWER. They sound pretty darn good...the midrange is a little muffled but that can be *mostly* corrected with a little adjustment of the EQ. Bass is sufficient and tight, the highs disperse very well although a little bright at times. Again, another EQ adjustment that can make them a lot better. My only gripe is for how much these speakers cost...id expect a bit better material. For example, I can see why the lower grilles arent easily removable. Its because underneath them are 3 paper cone, foam surround woofers. Yes, the foam is treated but I would expect from Klipsch rubber surrounds and a better cone material. The crossover is also made pretty cheaply...as are the binding posts (plastic rather than metal) but the upside is, you connect them and they sound pretty darn impressive. Instruments come to life as if a band is playing in front of you. Voices and sound effects in films seem like you are part of the film. I cant say that you cant buy another speaker that is built better (driver wise) for the same price, but i CAN say I dont think you can buy another speaker of this size, this good looking, and with the huge advantage of the dispersion of the horn tweeter. Unless you have $1300+ to drop on definitive Technology speakers... I dont think you will be disappointed with these speakers. Get em while they last...in store as of july 2011 they are on sale for 249 a piece...and open box as 199 a piece. hurry!

    Klipsch VF-36s are WORTHY!!!

Well this is for audiofriend who gave a stupid review like hes a writer for stereophile magazine, he wishes!!! First Best Buy IS A AUTHORIZED DEALER of Klipsch products!!!! Klipsch VF-36s are meant to be bi-amped also, which Best Buy does not provide unless you ask then they will be glad to show you the benefit of bi-amping!!! These Klipsch VF-36s are excellent, and have a great frequency response and sensitivity of 98db which is awesome!!! A Great Audiophile Recevier like a high-end Onkyo etc.. capable of front bi-amping and 4ohm capable will make these speakers sound great, and are worthy of having the Klipsch name!! audiofriend owned some Cf-3s which are over 8yrs old ummm technology changed since your time like BI-AMPING into a 4ohm load!!! RF-82s are in the same quality stage as the VF-36s they are $100 more cuz simply they have Gold-Colored Cerametallic Woofers which makes them look more cool so maybe the gold color is blinding audiofriend from hearing these two speakers sound exactly the same with the same A/V Receiver, the only diffrence between the two models is cosmetic!!!!! I sell Klipsch speakers everyday and know every spec of Klipsch Speakers and I work on NON-COMISSION SALES so I would recommend these over the RF- 82s due to VF-36s being cheaper and performance is equal between the two models!!

I had to change my front speakers due to a move and a new room that was extremely bright with my Def Tech Front speakers (360 deg sound). I was really torn in which direction to go and did not want to spend a fortune on new speakers. I did listen to Martin Logan, Monitor Audio etc. and liked the sound quality but didn't want to spend that much. I went with the Klipsch VF-36's and do not regret it one bit. They provide great imaging, detail and have nice tight bass. Depending on your amp they could be a little bright. I originally used my Yamaha RXV-3900 as a pre and my Denon POA-8300 Amp for the fronts and they sounded good but a little bright. I then replaced the Denon AMP with my AMC CVT2030 class A tube AMP and wow, what a great combination. Very smooth, detailed and I was able to achieve great power with my tube AMP due to the very high VF-36 sensitivity (97db). I listen to a lot of straight 2 channel music and with these speakers a sub is certainly not needed. I have listened to rock, jazz and classical so far and the soundsatge is wonderful. You can pick out where every instrument is coming from. I have also listened to a lot of different sources as well, CD's, Net Radio, iPod and Vinyl. All sources sound very good. Have not watched a whole movie on DVD yet but certainly have selected some scenes off DVD's and am just as happy with the performance of the VF-36's in 7.1 set up for movie watching. I had to adjust my current sub frequency crossover point due to the much stronger bass that comes from these vice my old Def Tech's. One thing I really like about these is you can not tell the sound is coming from the speakers, the soundastage is beyond the edges. These speakers are far from broken in so I will follow up a month or so from now. Right out of the box they sounded great. The only knock is the bottom grilles are not removeable, I sure wish they were. Setup Used: Yamaha RXV-3900 Receiver Denon POA-8300 Amp (Surrounds and Center) AMC CVT3020 Class A Tube AMP (Front) Sony DVP NS3100ES Onkyo CD DX-C390 Marantz 6100 Turntable Martin Logan Vignettes (surrounds) Definitive Technology CLR2002 (center) Cambridge Bass Cube 12 (sub) Panamax M5400-EX Power Center

These icons are GREAT! bought them on black friday for half off. I was kinda iffy about buying them because of the kind of material they use for the cones on the woofers. (paper) but for the price and the rep i decided to try them out. sounded good on my yamaha rx-v665 wich is rated at 90watts rms per 7 channels. The speakers are rated at 150 rms... so after having them hooked up for a few months i decided to see what they really could do so i whent ahead and ran a bi amp hook up on these speakers which bumped it up to 180 watts rms.... if you think these speakers are lacking in the mids to lows better think again and rewire your systems. they are not the RF series but they def can hang. I had my dad watch a movie and listen to them and he asked me if i had my sub hooked up and i sad no. so people please rewire your system to do bi amp hook up or add an external amp to help push these because if not it will do no justice for these speakers. (by the way i use to be in home theater install for ultimate electronics so i do know what i am talking about) so i would def say buy them.

I just picked up a pair of these that were display (open box), and they blew my mind! I had a set of JBL Towers (12" woofer, 5" mid, 1" titanium tweeter) before this, and I was skeptical about these speakers. I have had experience with Klipsch in the past, I own both their in-ear and over-ear headphones, but my JBLs sound so good I didn't think these could possible sound better. I have never been so wrong! The highs are SO CRISP! The crossovers are so good that you hear every single detail to the music. I can now discern the difference between previously very similar sounding snares in many of my favorite songs that I never noticed before. They have superb bass as well, although not as loud as my JBLs, it sounds more natural. Bottom line. If you can find these on clearance, BUY THEM! There is no way you could be disappointed with them. I bought them for 199$ each, and I would gladly pay the original 499$ after hearing them in my home.

At 50% off I just had to find out how good these would sound in my home. I hooked them up to the B Channels on my Yamaha Receiver just to get the feel of them. Amazing. I first thought that I would just test them out and later move them into my bedroom but they hold their own with the rest of the klipsch speakers that I have hooked up. I highly recommend having the sub with them though. I turned it up extremely high while watching a movie the other night and when the action started it was crazy. Watching on a 10' screen with an HD Projector made you feel like you were right there in the middle of the explosions. With that being said the sound is amazing and I highly recommend these speakers at the price I paid. Having also listened to the Refernce Series a significant amount of time I would recommend spending the extra money if you can, but at 50% off you can't beat these.

These speakers sound crystal clear and will take your home theater experience to another level. Before I had these speakers i had Home theater in a box and the speakers with that system were terrible. These things are clear and will kill Bose speakers or any sound speakers or bad Panasonic theater in a box systems. I don't think most people realize that the sound quality of there speakers suck because they don't realize that sound can be much better than you think. These speakers will open your mind and make you realize the High Def sound and clarity you've been missing. As far as music goes, these things are absolutely awesome and are nothing less than stellar. Even without a sub these things will rumble the pictures of the wall.

I recently purchased a pair of Klipsch Icon VF 36 floor speakers, Klipsch Icon VC 25 center channel speaker, and the Klipsch Icon VS 14 surround speakers to use with my home theater. I already had the Klipsch SW 350 sub that I used with my previous system. I cannot believe the brilliant highs, mid-range, and bass that this system delivers. HD television, Blu-ray movies, and all of my music comes to life as never before. I'm actually hearing instruments on my recorded music that I've never heard before. Although not a cheap system, you will decide immediately that this is money well spent. ( Note: system is powered by a Yamaha RX-V1065 AV receiver.)

I did a little research before buying, and saw a few reviews saying to just spend a little extra and get the RF series. However, for the price I got em at 280.00 each(open box), I could not pass up. These seem to be good 'entry level' home theater speakers.. not top of the line like the RF-82s. However Im upgrading from some very cheap Sonys (170.00/pair)... so for me these are amazingly better sounding... Combined with my Klipsch center channel speaker and some extra subs I added for fun.. the 7.1 comes together pretty good. With blu ray Dolby HD or DTS HD, plus my Sony str-1000, the sound stage feels wide and imaging was noticeable. However, my next pair will be the flagship series RF-82's or higher (since all the forums .. for now I'll enjoy a good pair for a bargain price.

I purchased as part of a klipsch 7.1 home theater 10 months ago, and these towers are worth every penny, AS LONG AS you combine them with a powered sub-woofer. I plan to take advantage of the bi-amp feature soon. They accurately and clearly reproduce any type of programming at any volume level, but they SHINE on blu-ray movies...better than any THX theatre in our town. My friends wait for movies to be released on blu-ray, and ask to come over to watch them at my home so they can experience these klipsch speakers with sound reproduction that's so incredible!

    Bottom Grille can be removed

Bottom grille can be removed. Not sure why you would want to do that, but if you do.... start by pulling off top grille at tweeter. Loosen the four phillips screws and pull off the frame upward. Once you do the bottom Grille can be slid up and then pulled off. The bottom grille slides over notched fittings located along the sides. One you have the bottom Grille off replace the frame for the tweeter with the four phillips you removed. Other than that think these a fair buy for the dollar, midrange is especially good; you might want to fill in the bottom with a subwoofer, but not a bad set of speakers at all.

This was a x-mass gift. I replaced a old set of Jensen 5LSB speakers with the v-65. The highs from the horn was very crisp and clean at high volume. The bass from the speakers were lacking in puch from what I was use to. The Jensens had a 12 inch woofer that gave deep booming base. On action movies this was lacking. I did purchase a Klipsh sub woffewr to go along with the speakers. This returned what was lacking from the v-65. I have a Denon receiver running the system. With the hertz turned down to 40 , the speakers deliver good enough power with the bass for music. The sub woffer takes the v-65 to anthor level and delivers the packag

I bought these speakers and paired them with my Yamaha Rxv567 receiver. I also picked up the Klipsch ceiling speakers(R-1650-C's), center channel (VC-25), and subwoofer (SW350). They look great, sound amazing, and do everything I want. They were very easy to set up and have ability to bi-amp if you want to get crazy, but for a beginner like me these are everything I want. I can crank up the receiver to as loud as I can take it and it still sounds crystal clear...and shakes the house!

I have purchased klipsch speakers in the past and love them. I would always go to the store to look at these but they were just to much $$$. I stopped by the store this week and worked a deal for 2 demos($99.99 each)!! First I will say they are pretty darn heavy. They sound so great!!! I love them!! They are so clear and sound wise match the rest of the system now. If the rest of your system is klipsch you will love these speakers. If these are the only klipsch in your system, they won't be for long. They over power other brands!!

When I got these speakers I went into Best Buy with the intention of buying the little brother of these speakes the VF35, the sales rep who was awesome, my guy was out sick, and he was the next best thing. He was able to knock off some bills when he could not find the VF35's in stock, but he had these ones, so after talking with him we got this set, let me tell you I am soooooo happy that we got these ones, these are so intense, these don't sound like speakers, these sound like you're right in the s**t literally.

I have these paired with a Denon receiver and Klipsch center; along with, cheap Sony surrounds. The sound is very good, however i only watch movies. The power is also very good. You can't go wrong if you buy these on sale. I can't wait to hear these with the Klipsch surrounds and 350w sub. The only thing that could be approved is a more aerodynamic appearance, however they still look nice.

These speakers are good but be aware that they are very bright (sound wise). They can be hard on your ears if listening at high volume. All speakers with Klipsch horns are like this. If you are looking for a warmer sound look at another brand. Also, at this price point, you can get a better value by looking at the Klipsch reference series (RF-XX).

Largest speakers I have ever owned! if you can handle the size, good clear sound, with multiple speakers it has been my experience that since they each perform slightly different, the mid and lower can get "muddy" Unless I was just lucky, they are great, the high end is clear and "bell" like, without the brittleness of other types of tweeters
