    Excellent Speaker for sub 1k.

This is a very good quality speaker for less than 1k. They have a nice even sound when hooked up to my Marantz 7001 as a Pre/Pro and the NAD T955 as a power amp. It is possible to Bi-Amp, these speakers and I had them that way at one point with negligible difference. These speakers powered by the Marantz SR7001 integrated sounded very sharp. Honestly to sharp. With the NAD T955 the sound is much warmer and is honestly perfect for my ear. I have owned about a dozen klipsch speakers in the past and these keep in line with Klipsch's general sound and values. The grills are quite flimsy and appear to be easy to break. I would just leave them on and exercise caution when cleaning. (Not a big deal, they look great once on. The binding posts are very nice, 5 way with gold plating. They are very big, almost imposing. There are gold plated shorting bars that are cut for the connectors when not biamping. #DO NOT LOSE THESE) I have spent a lot of time listening to various audio systems ranging up to the hundreds of thousands of dollars. These are not an obscenely expensive audiophile design. With that said, do not expect that performance. But they are also not 200k. If your budget is about 1k. I would certainly take a look at these, as I feel that you will not be disappointed. As per Klipsch's design philosophy, they are very efficient and will be driven well even without ridiculous amounts of power. I did accidently bang a piece of AV equipment into one of them while moving some stuff around one day, I managed to tear the vinyl a bit on of the speakers. I took a knife, and carefully cut around the damage, removed that vinyl and filled in the hole with a sharpie. Looks good as new now, and I have not noticed any more peeling in that area. I believe that the vinyl is as good as can be expected on a plywood cabinet. 2 other thoughts - To the reviewer whose tweeters were not working, make certain that you did not remove your shorting bars. Those are very important if you do not have a bi-amp. To the reviewer who stated that Klipsch does not design for music, well that is just not true. Klipsch has been producing speakers since 1946, long before home theater was invented. I love listening to music, all sorts of music, on the various Klipsch speakers that I have had over the years. And they are not bad for movies either. Give these an audition; I think you will enjoy them.

Great Tower Speakers for the Price!

These normally sell for $449 ea., but I got these on Black Friday 2012 for $225 ea. and couldn't pass up the price. Even if I had paid full price I would rate these above entry level and definitely put them in the mid-level range for Home Theater Towers. Some reviewers said the sound quality was not great, but I disagree. I don't know what Home Theater setup they have, but these speakers are designed to be used with a Subwoofer, Center, & Surround speakers. If you are using these by themselves then they will lack some range. I have these connected to a Yamaha Aventage RX-A810 7.1 HTR, Klipsch SW350 8in. Sub, Klipsch Quintet V Center & 4 Surrounds. I used Yamaha's YPAO room calibration to set my baseline and tweak it from there. I recommend setting the Subwoofer Crossover on your HTR to 90Hz. I found this to compliment the range of these speakers very nicely. Don't set your Crossover to 100Hz or above because the bass then becomes directional and that defeats the purpose of a Sub. A Sub should produce omni-directional bass, meaning if you close your eyes you can Not point to the Sub's location. Also, if there is too much overlap in frequency between the Sub, Front, & center speakers it can produce a type of distortion called Standing Waves that produces an overwhelming rumble in a feedback loop. Movies sound great on these with full range. The Klipsch Horns are so efficient at producing highs that some times a music source can sound a bit hollow in the Mid to High range. I recommend setting your HTR Treble to 0 or +1 at the most and the Bass to +3 or +4. These have Dual Binding Posts and they can be Bi-Amped or Bi-Wired if you remove the connectors between the posts. If your HTR supports Bi-Amping the Front channel, then this will give the speakers more power and better separation of highs and lows. My Yamaha HTR supports Bi-Amping, but then it would be a 5.1 instead of 7.1 and I would lose the rear surrounds. I opted to Bi-Wire these and did notice an improvement over a single wire. These speakers are big so make sure you have the space to accommodate them. They look great and I have not had any problems with the feet as some other reviewers. I would definitely recommend these, especially when they go on sale.

I have been looking for something to replace my 6.1 channel Onkyo speaker system in my home theater. The Onkyo's are 10 years old and were great as an entry level speaker system but I wanted something more. I was able to demo the Klipsch Icon speakers at my local Best Buy and decided that they would be a nice upgrade. I purchased these for half price on Black Friday from the Best Buy website. It was a great deal and included free shipping! The speakers were delivered to my door in just a few days. The only issue I had was that one of the feet on one speaker was broken during shipping. The speakers are packaged well, but I think they should ship them with the feet removed as they are susceptible to damage. I contacted Best Buy support and they offered to replace the whole speaker. I decided that was overkill so I called Klipsch support center. I explained the situation and without any hesitation they shipped me a replacement foot at no charge! Excellent support from both companies. Replacing the foot is easy; just two screws hold them in place. Setup is simple except that these 8" speakers are big & heavy. You may want to enlist a friend or a spouse to help you position them in your room. I purchased the Klipsch Center Channel speaker at the same time as these so that I had my front sound stage upgraded to match. The center channel perfectly compliments the floor speakers in both looks and tonality. I have them powered by an 800 series Onkyo Receiver (130W/channel) which works out well as these speakers like to be driven. Using the Audyssey MultEQ built-in to my receiver I calibrated the speakers for the room. Then I spent a few days playing music and movies to breaking them in. Don't be discouraged if they sound a bit harsh right after you install them; they take a little time to break-in but once they do they really shine. They sound great with both music and movies. Dialogue is much clearer and you can hear all the subtle instruments and sound effects. And did I mention they like to be pushed? You can really turn these up. I am looking to upgrade my surround speakers and subwoofer to the Klipsch Icon equivalents in the near future. If you have the room, I highly recommend these speakers. If you have a smaller room, the 61/2" floor speakers are a nice alternative. The only difference I found is that the 8" floor speakers sounded more open and more powerful but you can't go wrong with either set. If you are looking for a decent set of floor speakers I say go for it!

On Black Friday 2011, I pulled a total Cliff Huxtable. I went into the Stevens Point, WI Best Buy to buy a small pair of speakers for my new house and I walked away with these. After a brief discussion with the store manager, he "talked me into" listening to these. He said that there is no better speaker for the money. So I listened to them and I was hooked. I wasn't sure how I was going to explain them to my wife. So I sent her a text before I got home. Basically I told her that I bought a pair of speakers and they're not as big as they look. I just wanted to prepare her. So when I got home, I hooked them up before she could say no. I just told her to listen. Which she did and she was impressed. BTW, she is not easy to impress, especially when it comes to "luxury" buys like this. Anyway, I want to thank the manager who "talked me into" buying these. Seriously folks, they are awesome. I have been purchasing stereo equipment for 31 years. I have bought every type of speaker from Technics to Infinity to Polk to Mission to AR (and many more). There is no better speaker for the money. I did receive an amazing price on these speakers because it was Black Friday. But these speakers are a good buy at full price. If you are on the fence on whether to buy these, buy them. You will not be disappointed. Lastly I just want to say that I have never taken time to do a review on stereo equipment before. But I am so impressed with these speakers, I just had to share my enthusiasm.

These speakers sound incredible. The sales associate at Best Buy was nice enough to bring them into the Magnolia speaker room so I could hear them side by side with the Definitive Technology, Energy, and Martin Logan speakers that I was also interested in. I enjoy a rich deep bass but I absolutely love crisp and clear mids/highs. For my ears, these speakers sounded the best out of everything they had. I was more than willing to spend much more on speakers than these but when I heard them side by side, there just wasn't a comparison. I paired these with the KC-25 center channel and the SW-450 sub and I absolutely love my system. I am very happy with the range of sound this system provides to me and I would recommend these over anything else I heard at Best Buy. It should be noted that I also was considering the Klipsch Reference speakers (not sold at Best Buy# so I could never do a side by side comparison. But I compared the specs side by side and I went to each store 3 times with my own music #Crazy Train to let me hear the mids/highs and Money to hear the full range) and I could not hear a difference between the 2 when using similar receivers. Don't be fooled by the affordability of these speakers. These things are beasts!

It has always been a dream of mine to own a set of upscale or high end speakers. My first choice was a very nice set of Cerwin Vegas, Particularly the VE-12 model for 279.99 each. After much research I read that you can't recreate the sound that a big speaker can create with an all in one solution home theater system. Im coming off of 800 watt sony 5.1 system. I did in fact order the CW VE's but due to delivery issues from Amazon's seller, I went on the worst day of the year(black friday) and purchased the Klipsh KF 28. It was a quick buy and for under 500 bucks I feel I received the deal of a lifetime. A couple of key points: They are well made, good construction and kinda elegant in their own way. Loud.. they can be very loud and in no way distort or fade. They sound their best as a two channel setup. I ditched the 5.1 receiver for a straight up old school 2 channel as the 5.1 could only give me 2.1 which is no good... so heads up to all of you who think you can just hook them up and be done with it. Some receiver's do allow 100% 2 channel even though they do 5.1 or 7.1. The new receiver is also a sony ony this time it puts out 135 watts per channel. Another key point is quality.... to get an idea... I paid big bucks for a sony system that thought was awesome and so did my family and freinds. We were all wrong....These 2 speakers alone produce sounds I never heard in everyday music listening and for movies it became apparent that we were litterally in the dark with the 5.1 system. Don't worry about this purchase I promise it will be well worth it. Play whatever you want as loud as you want they will not miss a beat and neither will you. Very very clear sound with extremely tight bass. If you buy them you will understand better, so take it from some one who's picky about sound but not an audiophile with the need to have the latest stuff. Strongly recommend it as the last speaker purchase you will ever make. Good luck.

After coming across these beauties by chance hidden in the clearance section in the back of the store, I was excited to get such an unbelievable low price as a barely broken in former floor demo model. After losing my old Infinity Primus speakers from a nasty relationship breakup, I was casually shopping for a center channel, but after reading the reviews on my mobile phone while in the store, I had no idea just how *phenomenally* hi-end these F28s really perform. Klipsch is light years beyond my old stereo system in power, soundstage, low register, distinctive mids as well as the crystal clear upper registers of the horn tweeters. Blockbuster action films have phenomenal lower booms through these towers even when the Klipsch SW-450 subwoofer is shut off! Since this line was discontinued this year, now is the time to find incredible bargains on these gems. Don't let the price point fool you as these amazing speakers outperform some of the higher price bracket speakers in the Magnolia showroom, sans the fancy expensive wood veneer finishes which they typically factor into the price. I have these in a 7.1 surround setup in my 600 sq. foot bedroom, and even for this size of a room it's overkill. These speakers are designed to deliver powerful sound for larger open areas with good acoustics, and you will not be disappointed.

of speakers that were highly recommended on BestBuy.com. But when I compared that set of speakers side-by-side to the KF-28s, I couldn't resist going with the Big Klipsch! These speakers have great spatial definition, crisp, clean high end sound, and great response down through the mid-bass. Lower bass needs some help, so a good sub-woofer helps fill in this gap. The crossover at 1800 hz is smooth, allowing the big cones to handle the lower mid-range that is critical for a nice, warm sound. These speakers sound great playing hard rock or soft chamber music. I listened to both movie sound tracks and regular audio. The spatial definition and detail afforded by the magnificent horn-loaded tweeters, coupled with the fast and furious mid- and bass response due to the dual 8-inch plastic-cone woofers really gave the soundtrack the kind of punch you want in home cinema. These are great speakers! Never thought I would own a set of Klipsch speakers -- but I am really happy to have them in my living room. They are, as others have pointed out, HUGE speakers, so be sure your room can accommodate them. IF so, you cannot go wrong, especially at this price point.

I'm writing this review to inform anyone looking into Klipsch speakers. I bought a pair of these on Black Friday at the discounted price and overall i feel pretty satisfied with the purchase, but just to warn anyone who is looking for primarily music speakers, id pass on the Klipsch's...I dont want anyone to get the wrong idea but, i bought Klipsch bookshelfs, Klipsch center, and Klipsch surrounds, all icon series, hooked up to my 875 watt Pioneer, and i was overall not impressed. For home theater as in primarily movies they handled pretty well at high volume, but when i play certain genres of music ie: rock, or even rap, they sounded horrible when playing bass notes....even at low volumes, i thought my center speaker was blown! Any ways i returned the bookshelfs, and the center, got these floor standings Klipsch's and an Energy center (very nice) and now they sound great, but what ive heard is Klipsch's horn tweeter technology is more aimed torwards movies and/or light music. I am pleased with these Klipsch 8' floor standing speakers, ( they handle bass very well) but just to let anyone thats thinking about getting Klipsch, first listen to it at the store, preferably somthing with prolonged bass, and then decide. I also would like to say that if you are an amateur "audiophile" but want to stay on a budget i would highly recommend going into the Magnolia room to pick up some Energy speakers (especially the center 300.00). Last, if you can get these still i would def. scoop these up at the discounted price! thankyou hope this helps someone.

They are major overkill for my house. Running them with a KC-15, pair of KS-15's, and an SB-350 on a Pioneer VSK-1122, set to bi-amp the front. They do take a lot of power, so if your receiver cannot bi-amp these then you'll a new receiver or amp to power them, but once everything is up and running, they sound great. Excellent sound quality and impressive range and response for only being 20way, really great bang for your buck with what is on the market these days. Be prepared to have help. They are 60+lbs each and best to have two people to unpack them. The speaker grills are a bit cheap but functional (just make sure cats are trained not to scratch) The only real downside I had was the feet come with rubber pads to be suck on, and if you move them on carpet, they can be pulled off easily. If you want to use them on hard wood floors, you will need these pads. I got fixed it by a bit of super glue added to make sure they won't come off on my carpet again.

Wow. Amazing. Jawdropping. Natural. Just a few words to describe the sound from these speakers. It's like hearing your favorite music or movies fro the first time! I've heard Klipsch speakers before. And anyone who has had any experience with Klipsch knows quality sound. These speakers (even being "entry level") are fabulous! They won't fail to dissappoint. I got mine on sale for 349.99 a piece regular 449.99. One of the best investments I have made. If you have an ear for sound and dont want to break the bank you can't go wrong. These are an excellent value. Klipsch has some pretty expensive speakers and are worth every penny but the KF-28's are outstanding! I can't believe I paid only 349.99 a piece and ended up with what I have. Klipsch truly is a legend in sound.

What's good about these speakers - The highs and Mids are great. - They get loud with very little power and don't break up. - They have pretty good bass but still need a sub for the real lows. Some might find them ok without a sub. - They look respectable. - Can be bi-amped. Cons - The grills are cheap and kind of flimsy. Last year I bought the Klipsch VF-36 speakers for some cheap Klipsch speakers in my family room after buying the Klipsch RF63s the year before and being amazed by them. Well the VF-36s were not so good but they also don't list for 1100 a piece like the RF-63s. This year on Black Friday Best Buy had these for 225 a piece and I read they were totally re-worked from the VF-36s so I took a gamble and let me tell you it was so worth it. These sound very good. Now I need a better receiver like the per-amp amp combo I have running the RF-63s. Buy these speakers! Also for anyone that has read good reviews on the Polk Audio Monitor 70 II speakers. They are garbage hollow speakers that are cheap for a reason. The VF-36s are even better.

I found these at best buy on black Friday new for $225 each. I wasn't in the market for speakers, but couldn't pass up the deal. After hearing how great they sound, I would gladly pay the list price of $450. I have these hooked up to a Yamaha receiver, and I was very impressed with their output on just 100w per channel. The speakers have great response, and the dual woofers put out a good amount of bass without cranking the volume or increasing the bass range on the equalizer. I use these with a Polk audio sub as a 2.1 system, and have little desire to make a 5, 6, or 7.1 setup. Entire frequency range sounds terrific. Downside is these speakers are big. Make sure you are committed before purchasing. There are certainly better speakers out there, so me saying these sound terrific is based on speakers in this price range. I would buy these again if shopping for floor speakers under 1000/pair.

I bought these speakers on an early black friday promotion. The reviews were great and the price was incredible! I bought 4 speakers for less than the price of 2 at normal pricing. Shipped to me in 3 days. I hooked two speakers up when I got them and they blew me away. The power and the crisp mids and highs are fantastic. I also added a Klipsch 8" subwoofer and the bass and lows are picked up beautifully. These speakers sound great at low levels as well as high volume levels. They are clear, no cracking or clipping. They are every bit of the Klipsch quality of the late 80's - 90's and to be honest they sound better and have the power of the old cerwin vega m100s. I have them hooked up to a mediocre sony receiver and they sound awesome. Buy these with confidence as you won't be dissapointed. A great deal even at full price! Just an incredible speaker. Best speaker at Best Buy hands down. Blows the other speakers away!

I bought these on Clearance here at Best Buy. I heard good things about the brand & I read reviews. But that still did not prepare me for the pure AWESOME that these speakers are. In movies, In videogames, In music. wow x3. It makes my living room THE PLACE TO BE when watching movies now! its heaven! I hear things now that I have never heard before. In Gears of War Judgement, forget about it, I hear enemy footsteps so real, i turn around sometimes. We watched Insidious 1 (I've never seen it before) everyone watching it JUMPED in multiple scenes. The speakers AMAZE ME ON A DAILY BASIS. when the open box item was missing a tiny metal bar from the back (idk its real name), Klipsch even sent it to me at NO COST. talk about customer support! I always wanted big, bold speakers and before this purchase I red a lot of reviews (there were not so many other than bestbuy) and most of them represented these speakers as entry level - and they are entry level speakers. They are REALLY BIG! One of the comments were that legs are plastic and is confusing what to do when you receive broken legs - it was. I called BestBuy and they told me to return both speakers, even if I insisted that I do not want to send speakers back, that I only need those legs (in my case one of each speaker came with broken/destroyed leg), they said that I cannot get only legs, that I have to send speakers back and if there is any left, they will send me new ones. After that, I had to call Klipsch and explain the situation and after talking with manager, they sent me two cheap plastic legs that keep my speakers in balance. Beside that, I bought Pioneer receiver (BestBuy suggestion) which gave me clear sound without base. Next thing to buy - bass or center speaker.

I had old 1986 Fisher speakers, the sound was never really clear, and they got worse over time. I had heard Klipsch speakers before and really liked their sound. But I did not want to spend the 800 plus dollars to buy a pair.I was at Best Buy in December and noticed the RF-28 Icon Series was going to be on sale on Black Friday. I jumped at the chance to get $449 speakers for half price. So I ordered online on Black Friday before they sold out. I was very happy to get the pair for the price of one and save $449 dollars, since they are also never on sale. I set them up the next week and also bought a new Onkyo Tx-8050 receiver. The sound is terrific for Classical and Jazz, since they are known for their bright and crisp horn sounds. The only down side is that heavy metal and hard rock sound a little tingy. Also the built in subwoofer, could use a little more power. The bass could be deeper. Overall I would recommend them highly.

I have always wanted to purchase these speakers just never got around to it. On Black Friday these speakers were 1/2 price so I could not resist. With that being said I'm absolutely glad that I got them and they are well worth it at full price. I have a complete set of Klipsch speakers 2- RF-28's 2-bookself, 2-rear surround and a subwofer however I purchased a reference center channel speaker because it also was on sale. I have these speakers connected to a Denon AVR 4520 CI. This receiver has all the power that these speakers need. These are my first set of higher end speakers and I could not be more thrilled with my purchase and at half the price makes it that much more of a deal. The fact that you can bi-wire these tower speakers which allows you to separate the highs and lows and input more power to the speakers is an added plus and it makes a difference. I'm going to enjoy these speakers for a long time!!!!!

So everyone can see how the look. You can read specs, but what you can't do is hear them until you get em home. The in store setups sounds cruddy. Once you get them home is what counts. The highs are perfect, the mids are flawless. Bass is good. Does help having a sub to really dip down but can run these without one. The best part of these speakers besides the sound is the ease of being able to power them. You can throw as much power at them as you want but don't need it. These things will rock your front room with 20 watts or 2000 watts. Now RMS is 150 but truly they will run just fine. Unless your going to spend 2k a speaker your not going to find a better speaker for the money. I bought mine for 250 bucks but even at full msrp they are a bargain.

    Klipsch Rocks!

I first heard Klipsch speakers back in the late 80's at a neighbor of a friend of mines house. I remember him turning up his stereo and everything falling off his walls. The sound then was crystal clear from the lowest low to the highest high. These KF-28's are better! I have never heard such clarity and power without being at a show. I would recomend these to anyone . But , even though Klipsh speakers can be driven by nearly anything I recomend a good amp or receiver to really serve these justice. I also have a polk audio psw10 sub (really not needed) and when it's on with the Klipsch you are being hit in the chest with some forceful bass. Thank you Best Buy and Klipsch!! Buy these speakers!!!!!
