These are the best computer speakers that I have ever owned; had Bose and they are nice, not saying that I did not like them; but they kinda faltered with the type of music I listen to. These Klipsch are wonderfull speakers and I recommend them for him and her, young and old. Just remember that the bass is deep, so when you get caught up in a movie/tv show from Hulu, or a game like Borderlands; it can and will upset the neighbors! Just my .02!

Stunning sound quality from PC speakers

I was ready to buy a set of mroe expensive Bose speakers, going for the name. The kid at Best Buy was great when he saw me grab the Bose he said "if you are looking for great sound and a better price, I recommend the Klipsch." He was right. Not only are they great PC speakers but they can fill the house with clear, high quality sound, even on high volume. No distortion. These speakers don't even break a sweat no matter what you ask of them.

Excellent sound versus the Bose C2

I had to come on here to write this review because I was about 99% ready to purchase the $100 Bose Companion 2 speakers. I headed over to BB with a little doubt as I knew BB would have the speakers lined up for me to test out. I went down the line thinking I'd end on the Bose and be sold. Right before the Bose, I stopped at these Klipsch speakers and was just absolutely blown away by their quality of sound for the price. I then went to play the Bose thinking they'd blow me away only to be disappointed by their lack in the lower spectrum of audio. Their highs are great but they weren't much noticeably different than the Klipsch, the Klipsch's however were just such a better choice though after comparing them. If you're looking for something more compact, then obviously the Bose ones will be your choice, but if you have a little extra space for the subwoofer, then I'd go with these because you can't just axe a subwoofer and expect to still get great highs and lows in your music. ALSO, I don't want to say who in the store recommended these to me while I was browsing (because I don't want to get them in trouble), but several of these "same people" said they recommended these over Bose, it was insane how confident they all were.
Anyhow, if you're going to go Bose, then go with their $400 ones, because those are the only ones with a subwoofer. If you want to save the $$ then go with these and you will be just as happy. I'll re-update after I've had these for a few months.

First Promedia lasted 10 yrs, this set.. doubt it.

So 10 years ago (2005) I bought this Promedia set from Best Buy. It made it through 4 years of college, moving in and out of dorms and many apartments in the following 6 years. Only weakness on that set was how easily the woofer could be strained. It finally died last week so I figured I would buy another. Right away unboxing it there are differences everywhere and none seemed to be for the better. The fuse is gone, no more power switch on the back, and the subwoofer is a good 4ibs lighter. The whole back plate on it looks cheaper. The satellite speakers no longer have 3.5mm inputs but instead have the speaker wire built into them... cheap? yeah... So how does the sound compare? 10 years later it still pops when you plug a source in... 10 years later the subwoofer still strains easily. The sound quality is good at low levels - this is coming from someone who has a high end aftermarket car stereo setup and have Polk TSX550 for my primary home speaker setup (not super high end but really good). Klipsch has in my opinion always had bright highs (almost harsh) and good bass, vs. Polk Audio with a warmer tone overall and more midrange vs. Logitech with muddy highs and tons of midrange and mid bass. For the money I think it isn't bad, but 10 years later with no improvements, and several downgrades at this pricepoint isn't good. There are a lot of other equal or better options out there today. My only deciding factor was the subwoofer form factor I needed. I dont think it is fair for BBY to keep these old reviews when the product has had revisions like this.

I was gonna spend the $299 on a BOSE dock, but with an IPHONE 4 it with a case it was just a clumsy setup that wouldn't charge my phone, and the sound was decent but not $299 decent. (Bose is a bit of hype IMHO)
Just bought this setup to create a compact 2CH home stereo out of IPOD Universal dock for my iphone 4 OR my IPOD with remote, an Xbox 360 + a Toshiba 32" HDTV (college student setup) and I'll tell ya it plays well.
These speakers have a nice deep full sound with no coloration, plays loud enough to worry about the neighbors and has excellent bottom end.
Two sets of 3.5MM inputs to be used with IPOD dock and one pair of RCA to 3.5MM cables with Dual female RCA adapters and that goes to XBOX for movie viewing.
Now I have my poor man's home entertainment center.
Simply blows away the BOSE Idock, even the $500 setup.

Nice Speakers with great sound. The woofer gives rich bass while the small speakers sound good and are a convenient size. Easy connectivity.

Great PC Speaker For Those Who Enjoy Quailty Audio
Posted .

Learned a lot from all the other reviews - Thank you. I am very happy with my purchase, these are great speakers! I wanted to add a couple of things not covered in other reviews.
1- The sound from these speakers will only be as good as your sound card, its drivers, and settings. Some sound cards default to non-flat equalization settings to compensate for "typical" limited frequency PC speakers. If the sound from these speakers doesn't meet your expectations check you sound card settings and be sure you have the latest driver(s) before assuming the speakers are at fault.
2. Placement of the subwoofer can significantly effect its performance. The manual gives the suggested placement as the back of the subwoofer being against a wall. The subwoofer has a factory marking noting a recommended setting. This is roughly 1/3 of the subwoofers volume adjustment and may be more bass than some prefer. Because the subwoofer crossover frequency is low you can reduce the subwoofer volume and not effect the overall sound quality.
3. The Best Buy specifications for these speakers indicates a 5 yr warranty but the paperwork that came with my set (12-2009) say 1 yr.
4. AC power consumption measured with a KILL-A-WATT meter is 14 watts at all but the highest volume.
These speakers replaced a set of 2.1 Altec-Lansing. The Altec's were good speakers using an unconventional downward facing mid-range driver in the satallites. These Klipsch cost roughly 50% more than the Altec's but the sound quality is noteable, equal to or greater than the increase in price. I expect to get many years of great performance out of this set of Klipsch.

Lives Up To Hype

I got the last one in the store last night. Yeah, they're excellent speakers. Can't imagine anything better for $120 or maybe even at the $160 price. I own a lot of Klipsch speakers I paid 300 - 500 per speaker for and these hang with them just fine. Very, very powerful. Hope I don't get thrown out of my apartment. I put the woofer out from underneath the desk and it doesn't sound so boomy. Some people on forums say the woofer gave out on them in 1 - 2 years, hope that doesn't happen. As of right now, really happy with the decision.

well I knew i wanted some good speakers for my iPod, computer, and tv. This is perfect for what i need it for, i didn't wanna put a 5.1 system in my room, so i got these they fill the room and... well when in turn them up can hear them upstairs... absolutely hands down the best sound for the size, words don't let you experience it, just go compare the weight of all the boxes.... cause this one is pretty heavy and thats a good thing. And i got the 2 year replacement plan so if i ever get to crazy i can always go get some new ones. :)

Best 2.1 Speakers I have ever owned!

Wow what a great set of 2.1 speakers. Setup is easy for novices and the cord length is long enough for any system setup. My music sounds AMAZING on these and the bass is deep and pure. If you are looking for 2.1 speakers and don't want to pay over $200 pick these up because you will not be disappointed.

recently purchased Bose Companion 2....Returned them, they didn't specify the wattage at all, so when the Klipsch speakers were back in stock, bought them...they blow away the Bose speakers hands down!! Have only had them installe for about an hour, but so satisfied by the performance. Easy to install, and the sound quality is the best by far,, Especially for my laptop. 100% hard to find a good speaker system for a laptop!

I needed to replace my JBL pebbles speakers because it lacked power. I was undecided with these klipsch or Bose companion speakers. After I did my research I decided to go with these instead of Bose. These speakers were about $40 more than the Bose but a bonus subwoofer was a gain. Wow, wow and Wow again. I was almost literally blasted and very impress with the power and clarity they possess!

Dude, these absolutely kill. I listen to and record (very basic) music with my computer. I listen to rock and metal (thrash, stoner, doom) and these speakers perform! Bass comes out super-powerful from the sub, treble on the speakers is perfect for my ears. AND THEY GET LOUD, like big 70's stereo loud, relative to their small size. Klipsch has my business the next time I need speakers.

I was shopping around for some speakers for my husband's Christmas present. I was looking at Bose because I thought they would be the best but when I was reading the reviews someone mentioned that these speakers are better.
My husband absolutely loves these speakers! The sound quality is amazing and the sub-woofer is awesome. Ever since my husband started listening to his music on those speakers he doesn't like listening to music on any other speaker.
I would highly recommend them!!

These Baby's Kick

I picked up these Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Speakers on sale to use with my laptop. I needed more sound then the built in laptop speakers were providing. These baby's did the trick. The bass sound kicks butt! This speaker system gives off far better sound than other comparable 2.1 speaker systems. The only drawback I have found so far is the on/off switch. It is located in back of the sub which makes it alittle difficult to get to. Otherwise, I would recommend this system to any avid music listener.

I have NEVER taken the time to write a review on a product but I have to put a comment about these speakers. They are fantastic on every level, the price, the sound, the bass.... I go through computer speakers like water and have never found anything that sounds like this. Granted, I just got them so I am not sure the durability (I always seem to have a speaker go out or the sub stops working after a few months) -- but at this point I would have to say...incredible!

Picked this up a couple of hours ago at a store and like WOAH BRO! Seriously these are even better than those BOSE companion 3's that my buddy has. Even he thinks so and now hes jealous which im happy about. That and they cost a hundred bucks less. Everything is awesome about these, but i did give it a four in compatibility for a reason. That reason is if your like me and you couldnt afford a tv so you just bought a computer screen for your playstation or xbox then you know that this thing only is really compatible wiht your pc. I needed it for both pc and my playstation but worry not friends. it just takes a little wiring trick and yrou all set and it will run. To do this you will need TWO RCA VIDEO female to female connectors and ONE audio rca to mini audio jack. You can ask your bestbuy guys what this is. P.S. only works if your running your audio through composite. HDMI people are outa luck. So buy those extra three things and your good.
