I almost bought the Bose and I'm glad I didn't. I listen to Metal and needed something that can withstand the constant double bass beating. I seriously can't turn the speakers up beyond 1; they are loud and the bass is very powerful. My only gripe, is that the on/off switch is located on the back of the subwoofer, which is on the floor. Terrible placement.

This system is pretty good for the watt per buck plus its THX certified so for people complaining about the highs piercing, thanks Lucasfilm because they tweak the speakers to do that. If you think these speakers are junk then make sure you read the manual as it says lower your volume on the computer or device to 70%. If you are using an mp3 player or a device other than a computer, you have to use the line port found on the right side of the right satellite speaker NEXT TO THE HEADPHONE JACK( someone writing the review obviously didnt see the headphone jack on the display model -___-' ). The sound will be significantly better and more balanced and I recommmend the wire to be shorter as less wire there will be less resistance meaning better sound. The subwoofer dial should not pass the 10' o clock marker unless you like stuff falling from the walls and muffled sound. I also recommend when using the line in jack to keep the computer audio away from the power outlet as it causes interference with the speakers.

After 7 yrs. my Creative 5.1 surround system crapped out on me. To replace them I didn't want to not mess with all those speakers again but yet wanted a more crisp and defined sound. Man, did I ever hit the bulls eye. I can hear EVERY sound coming through clear as can be. It feels as though the band is playing right in front of me.
I must have searched five different stores until I ran into the display of these babies. I was sold instantly but, being as retentive as I am about purchasing electronics, I had to do more research. The critics raved about it, the buyer reviews were off the charts as well. That was it, had to get 'em. Sure it was a stretch from what I was originally thinking I'd spend ($70-ish) but, I don't regret any of the extra dollars for this quality.
To the ones that had the bad reviews, all I can say is that there will always be a few bad ones that leave the factory. But I also think that many the ones that said they didn't like the sound just didn't know what they were doing and must have set it up wrong. If you download the realtek high definition driver . . . cherry on the icing.
One last word. Don't be CHEAP! I promise you won't regret the investment. These speakers are the poor man's high end sound system.

I purchased this set of speakers for a family member I was visiting and could not wait for shipment of my first option. I asked to listen to the speakers but they were not setup properly in the store so I purchased them blindly. What a surprise! Bose has a run for the money for sure. These speakers are the best I have heard and I own a Bose companion set at home. Setup was simple and they sound phenomenal. The entire family enjoyed the experience. The Best Buy tech was correct when he said that everyone loves the speakers and that they are as close to surround sound as you can get. Unbelievable!
We played many shorts but the kids liked the dinasaures the best because it was actually scary to listen to (and yes, the glass of water actually trembled like in Jarisic Park movie). These speakers are definite keepers.

Easy to set up. Sound quality is very good. Puts out a lot of sound even at a low volume setting. Subwoofer rocks the house. I've seen complaints about switch location on back of subwoofer but don't think it's a big deal, certainly wouldn't let that deter me from purchasing it. Also ok with the price. Bose would be a whole lot more but doubt it would give you any more in performance & sound. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Bought the Logitech z533 to not spend as much money, but was unimpressed. Exchanged them for these and let me say the extra $$ was well worth it. Amazing computer speakers A++. The THX certification does not lie. Audiophile must. Almost envies an actual home theatre set up. Bass is clear and present? Hear things you never had. Mostly use them for gaming and music.

these are by far the best computer speakers i have ever had, even when listening on super low levels so as not to wake the kids the richness in the bass and all of the tones that you hear are incredible. i am hearing notes in songs that i have never heard before and these are songs i have listened to over and over, i was on the fence about buying these because of the cost but if you can afford them i highly recommend them.

One word....WOW! They sound better than my car and home stereos! The best computer speakers I ever bought. The sound and base is incredible! They were $159 but on sale for $119. I listened to these and the Bose in the store and these sounded better! They don't disappoint!

I was impressed by over 400 reviews, looking for computer speakers for my daughter's small LA rental house, with 450 square foot living room. And I remember Klipsch from my high-fidelity college days of Bose, Dual, and Shure V15. I had bought a 2 & 1 set of computer speakers about 10 years ago from Best Buy that have stood up and I am using them today in my office - sound is great. A name brand also, Altec Lansing. So I was looking in that general price range.
But over 400 reviews got my attention at $155. I read maybe 50 to 100 of the reviews, and we stopped by a Best Buy to listen. The radio music was not that impressive, even at high volume, but I bought the speakers anyway.
My wife had noticed that the salesman mentioned they can be wall-mounted. So I put up the satellites with about 10 feet distance for good stereo effect, the woofer on the floor in the corner. We didn't turn them up that first time; the hour was late and we were afraid of disturbing the neighbors. On a later visit, by myself, I cranked up the volume on some jazz music, and then stepped out in front to see if the cops would be coming. It wasn't too loud outside, but very noticeable. A neighbor who happened to be outside, said "That sounds nice. You can tell a good sound system from jazz and classical." But I couldn't get him to poke his head in the door for the full effect.
The sound quality was absolutely astounding! I switched from Brazilian samba over to a classical playlist on the iTunes, some Handel Water Music. Equally high volume. I stood back about 20 feet, the living room is long and narrow, about 15 by 30, with the speakers on one end. The music was transcendental. There was a knock on the door. The same neighbor was back. "Can I poke my head in this time?" He entered. He was as floored as I was.
My daughter had a party shortly after that. She wrote "I love how you mounted them so the sound just kicks out into the room - it was so awesome, everybody noticed the quality." She listens often, sometimes to iTunes, sometimes to YouTube playlists. These speakers are worth every penny and then some. Have fun.

I bought these 2 weeks ago. They sounded good on display & it was on sale. I didn't think it would carry all the way through, but the sub vibrates my windows & the sound is really good for the set up I have. I read other reviews about it giving out & I'm a little nervous that will happen, but considering I take really great care of things I buy, I don't think that will be a problem.

I was debating of getting a 2.1 for my laptop dell xps, I was thinking of getting the Bose Companion 5 or these.... I read every where and these are new to the market but all where good reviews. Even from CNET. I read of the logitech and creative... I know klipsch from home entertainment and knew they where very nice. I was really wanting Bowins & Wilkins for laptop but where not avaible. (those are GODS!) Anyways I finally gave in and got these for the price of 119. I figured if I didnt like them I will return them. Well I am NOT returning them!! They sound crisp and clear!!! I am using a Creative X-fi sound card that goes in the port for the laptop, not the head phone jack. OMG!!!! They rock, gaming they sound exremely good!!! Music... clear crisp bass is clean hard or soft like I want it, No destrotion... I would really get these over the bose companion!! Dont waste 4 bones when you can waste $150 for these. Highly recommend!!

For the retail price, I would honestly go with the Logitech Z623's for a bit less. The Klipsch speakers are indeed fantastic - as everything Klipsch tends to be. However, at the pricepoint of ~$140, you can do better. The sound quality is amazing - no qualms on highs, lows, mids, or bass. The build has great quality and the controls are easy. They look ok, but at the same time I think they don't look so sleek while sitting on the desk. The bass definitely thumps and you won't ever need to go over 50% on these speakers (especially if you live in an apartment or dorm room).

I love these speakers. These get so loud, I never turn the volume on the speaker past 25%. I really dont have any cons on these speakers. No, they are not as flashy as other brands, but if you just want an incredible sounding speaker for a good price, you need these.

I was replacing my old system that had a problem and I searched online for a replacement. The Klipsch system was only five dollars more than a direct replacement for what I had, and the reviews I read all raved about the sound.
I placed my order online and picked up at the store (which is a really easy way to buy exactly what you want)
Hookup was easy enough and the sound was really great; way better than what I had before. I'd do it all again!
There is no on/off switch, which takes some getting used to, but it has not been a problem so far.

I work part time as a second audio engineer at a local live music venue with 2,000 seats, and in my living room I have the same B&W speakers used at Abbey Road. I'm not trying to boast, of course not, but I hear the best of them on a daily basis.
Believe me when I tell you the Klipsch 2.1 is the best computer speaker set available for $150. It blows Creative and Logitech away. Bose 2 channel setups can't keep up.
The frequency response is smooth throughout the entire spectrum, and the 8" woofer blends harmoniously with the 2 satellite speakers.
I don't always agree with horn tweeters, but Klipsch is well known for having perfected the science. This is also evident in this system. The highs sound sweet and crisp, but not overly harsh.
You could invest your $150 in stylish looks (JBL), or digital input (Logitech), or a name (Bose), but wouldn't you rather spend it on SOUND QUALITY?
Every penny of your $150 is invested in sound quality. The Klipsch 2.1 delivers the goods.

These cost a bit more than I wanted to spend, but they've been well worth it. Sub is powerful. L/R speakers sound clean. Only complaint is the bright green power light. I could cover it with some tape I suppose.

Excellent buy, worth every penny. No distortion whatsoever, sounds fantastic and the bass is more than enough, its only about a quarter of the way and it is rattling my desk. I listen to mostly heavy metal and it is sounding fantastic love these things!
