I purchased a computer about 10 years ago and it came with these speakers. It finally got a tear in the woofer so I decided to replace everything. It still worked and I could have just replaced the speaker itself but it was 10 years old so I just decided to replace it with the same model. Should have another 10 years of great sound. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone.

I am an audio engineer, audiophile, involved in audio for 44 years, as a professional musician (44 years) and video producer for the last 22 years. "What the specs don't state is the frequency range of this system is 20Hz to 20,000 kHz, well beyond most person's hearing perception. However, what cannot be heard, is physically felt, often described as presence. "The specs also don't state this system is THX certified. If you don't know what that means look it up at wikipedia. "There is an on/off switch on the back of the subwoofer, as this may not be convenient for some, I suggest, as I did, plugging the end of the power cord into an on/off switch, the toggle type that plugs into an ac outlet, then plug the system into the switch. This will also avoid wearing out the system's switch. "I have one of the systems in our audio studio and another in our media ( movie/video ) room. "My experience with this system is excellent audio-wise, longevity-wise. The one in our studio has been left on for 10 consecutive years! "Note: I built a solid wood 6" riser to keep it off the floor and it has plenty of ventilation. I have the port facing forward, controls toward the back. "The subwoofer amplifier has finally failed on the one left on in our studio. I am going to buy a replacement, which I hope lasts another 10 years. In fact, I am going to buy two, just in case they stop making this system.

overall a great buy- i had been pricing other self powered spaekers for use out side with a projector and i did not want to wire up a whole home theater for a 2hour movie. most of the speaker i found were 40 or 60 watts and from $100 - $150 for the pair. found these on display 200 watts and a sub for $158 bucks great deal, and klipsh is a good brand so i went for it and have been happy with them overall. my coment about the bass being thumpy is not a speaker problem, because you can adjust the amount i just feel that the bass should be able to handle the same volume as the others speakers but overall they do sound great

The best sound you'll get out of a 3.5mm jack

I bought this set up 10 years ago based on the brand - it was my first Klipsch purchase. These speakers made me a fan! The sound that comes out of these speakers is amazing for the size and price. The mids and highs are smooth and detailed and really shine on acoustic media - you can hear the string reverberate. The BASS - it comes from a 6" driver and sounds better than some 10" home theater subs that I have unfortunately owned over time. The mid base is undistorted and hits hard enough to feel and literally vibrate the walls. The low end is there at lower volumes but is over powered by the mid bass at higher volumes. The volume that comes out of theses speakers is loud while staying clean. It is loud enough that, in a household office or bedroom, you would literally have to yell at the person next to you for them to hear you. Unless you are planning to hook up your device to an AV receiver and full sized speakers (that’s what Air Play is for) you can't go wrong with these. The down side - 1. I have had to replace the cable that plugs into the sub from the control module twice in the ten years that I have owned it. It is a small connector that resembles a SVHS plug. It was caused by me kicking the cable under the desk. After the second time of buying it from Klipsch I made sure it would happen again by rerouting it. Smart huh? No problems with it sense. 2. I just blew the sub, but it died valiantly. At $250 for ten years of service I considered it a bargain, now at $150...

    Cant Beat This...

For music and DVDs, the speakers have an "optimum" subwoofer level that is indicated by a marking next to the knob (roughly 10 o'clock). With the suggested setting as our starting point, we played U2's new "Vertigo" MP3. While the mid-to-high frequencies sounded crisp and clear, the sub seemed to offer more rumble than clarity--the bass line and the kick drum were nearly impossible to separate, and fiddling with the sub level didn't help clear things up. At their maximum level, the ProMedia 2.1 speakers also suffered from slight distortion issues, but this is somewhat irrelevant, as no sane human will choose to listen to these speakers at their maximum volume (106dB, or 14dB shy of the threshold of pain) for more than a few seconds.

Having been a previous owner of Of Klipsch I was not surprised to find these speakers to be so Good. Having looked at Bose, Altec Lansing I found these priced just right and sound as good as anything I heard.

These speakers are awesome. I bought 2 sets, one for the computer and one for my TV - I don't need a huge surround sound system and these speakers kick butt. Easy to set up (I'm a 50 something female). Rich and full sound. I am grateful for the employee whose Dad had a been a sound geek when he was growing up. Great deal for the $$. Heck, great deal for any money.

I am an IT director and a music fan. These are absolutely the best computer speakers I own (out of dozens including B@se), and for the money they are the best, period. I do own a $500+ pair of speakers that have a bit more bass, but for the money my hat goes off to Klipsch every time!

I was looking at ipod docks for work. None of the docks had the sound i was looking for. Not even the Klipsch ipod dock ,ihome with the dual 4" woffers or even the JBL. Dont get me wrong they sounded great for daily soft music. I want POWER. The BB rep showed me this. I plugged my IPOD in and was SOLD. This is what i was looking for. POWER, CLEAR, My movies come alive on my laptop and ipod. Music is awsome!!!!!!! Can not go wrong with this setup. Sub control is perfect you can power up or down durning each movie or music. I have mine set on the dot and it has not moved. I was afraid of the size but after hearing i had to have. This sound fills up my Office And warehouse.YES..this is a must have for any music lover.

I've been into Car and Home Audio all my life, Bose has always set the standard for Home Audio. Klipsch has made a statement with this small set-up that has Amazing sound and clarity. I have Onkyo for my Home Audio surround sound and I plan on upgrading to Klipsch for my whole Home Audio set-up. I have these speakers hooked up to my wife's Mac desktop and is so loud it can almost drowned out my Onkyo.

    Excellent value in computer speakers

Pros: Excellent sound quality for the price. Easy setup. Dual inputs. Cons: No power (on/off) switch (not very "green"). Rubber feet fall off metal bottom stands (poor adhesive?). Lack of RCA phono jacks (or equivalent) on back of sub-woofer for connecting speaker wires (instead this unit uses spring loaded pinching connectors on bare speaker wires). I expected something better and more resilient.

    Awesome Speaker ever owned

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is my first detailed review for any product which I purchased online. I was waiting to get a desktop speaker for a long time, and since I'm a music freak ,it was my dream to own the best speakers for music and for movies as well. I was researching for a long time comparing various models, and going through lots of online reviews and got a huge confusion. I also owned a Cyber Acoustics 2.1 speakers but returned it within a week due to subwoofer issues. Then I don't want to take another risk to buy a defective product again since I hate returning products. And there came the savior in the form of Klipsch promedia 2.1. The sound clarity is just awesome in this speakers. I really enjoy listening to music with this. Hope this will be there with me for a pretty long time. Thanks Klipsch.

Works right of the box. Normally have to keep it below 25% on the volume knob to avoid disturbing the neighbors in my apartment greatly! It's amazing crip, clean sound that when paired with a good computer sound card, is the best set of 2.1 speakers I've ever heard. Much better option than the Bose system.

Had this system for almost two months now. Got it to replace an aging system (also 2.1 system). I was surprised at how much smaller the whole set up was from my previous one. Immediately thinking the sound wouldn't be as good, I plugged it in and began some tests. Let me just say, the all star reviews for this product all over the internet did not come without warrant. Excellent product.

To keep it simple, the ProMedia speakers exceeded my expectation. For $150, you can't go wrong. There's really not a lot to say other than just buy em'! You will not regret the purchase. They are, hands down, the best computer speakers I've ever heard.

while i am not a big bose fan these speakers arent much different. nice sound but the low end needs alot to be desired. typical low end flubber wich i did not expect. hi and mids ok. the bass has that constant same sound like it is fixed very disapointed there. for $150 dont think i would recomend if u can get on sale for 100bucks ok.. would not recomend bose either(dont let the name fool u) To get the sound you probably desire u will end up spending over $4oo.. However surprisingly enough i would recomend the Logitech z623 for the $129 at bestbuy they will shock u. got some for my son and was shocked. solid-powerfull-good sound.(surprised me). There for i will probably be returning my klipsch and getting the Logitechs 330 watts power and i believe it. Klipsch 2oowatts . yes u feel the difference

I got this to replace my 12 year old Harmon Kardon 2.1 set that I bought refurbished from Fry's Electronics for $60. It's like night and day, these speakers are awesome. I mainly use them for gaming, but I'm going to start listening to more music on my computer now. If your thinking of getting a $40-$60 2.1 set of speakers don't! Spend the extra money on these and you'll hear where that extra money went.

I use these a my primary television speakers. With the caveat that if I want to change the volume I have to get up instead of using a remote control, this is a great budget minded choice for a home theater solution. I bought these soon after switching to a flat panel. They are the best speakers I have ever owned. They have great bass and I don't even notice when the system changes from using the tweeters to the mid range speakers. I can control how loud the subwoofer and satellite speakers are using separate knobs. I found I like the subwoofer low so I can hear the bass without being overwhelmed by it.
