    So So sound

At the store, I was impressed with the sound of this Klipsch system paired with the Sub-10 subwoofer. The bass was pounding and the sounds from the Quintet were overall crisp with little to no distortion. After setting the system up and listening to the sound at my own house, however, I was disapointed with the end results. The speakers often times turned out to be too loud or too soft requiring me to adjust the volume constantly. The Sub-10 was EXTREMLY loud - but the sound was "muddy." I re-ran my amplifier's automatic setup which sends out audio signals over a range of frequencies to a microphone to configure the best sound. While this was occuring for each channel, I was surprised that there was no variation in tone w/ the subwoofer. I.E. It was just a THUMP, THUMP sound w/ no change in tone. After the configuration was ran, I played the movies 300 (HD-DVD w/ DTS) and War of the Worlds (DVD w/ DTS). 300's dialouge was good - however when the fight scenes came on, I had to reduce the volume so much that I couldn't hear the dialouge anymore. In addition to that - the sound from the sub was SO overpowering that my entire house shook. War of the Worlds was similar esp during the lightening storm scene. The bass simply drowned out the quintet system and was so loud that small items on my coffee table were vibrating off of it. To counter the loudness of the sub, I reduced the volume directly on the back of the sub. However after doing that, almost no bass was heard from the sub unit and the Quintet system could not reach mid to low bass to make up for it. When I disabled the Sub-10 all together to just hear the qunitet system by itself, I was more disapointed. Spoken words in War of the Worlds were "tinny" - and the Quintets would "cut out" when lower bass was needed. I spent hours configuring my reciever and the back panel of the sub to try to reduce the sub units range to overcome the Quintet's poor lower range, however I had no success. Boiling this all down, while the Klipsch system sounds good in very large rooms (i.e. the store) the bass unit makes the entire system suffer by driving too much bass without enough tone and the quintet system "cuts out" sounds that you would normally hear in a movie theater. Similarly priced systems can be purchased (Focal Sib system MSRP $1000) that sound far supperior to this system and covers the entire audible range. I have already purchased a new surround speaker system and will be returning the Klipsch to Best Buy.

I had a complete Synergy F3 system in a dedicated theater but moved into smaller digs so I sold this system but impressed with the brand I settled on the Quintet III system. I found the small quintets just a bit lacking in the dynamics I was use to on the full size F3 system. It was a great sound considering the size/price, but after auditioning the SL's at the store I decided to give them a try in my system. WOW! What a difference I would almost be willing to admit they sound better than my full size F3 system in my 15' x 15' space. Compared to the Quintet III's they sound much more open & spacious and approach the dynamics of the floor standers I was accustomed to. The 80x80 horn shape on the LCR really opens the sound up and improves off axis response (ie when standing or sitting sounds the same) compared to the Q3's. Music and movies both are now comparable to my full size system something I did not think would be possible within such small speakers. Klipsch really put some effort into the sound of this system and I will have them in my system for some time to come. To be fair one improvement could be the wall mounting options for the front LCR's they come with stands, threaded or keyholes for wall mounting but I found the surrounds integrated stand/ mounting brackets much more usable as you are able to angle the speakers a number of ways. This would have been appreciated on the LCR's. I had to purchase 3 wall mounts separately to get the speakers to angle in to the listening position the way I desired, I found this also improved the sound slightly buy pulling them an inch or so off the wall. Also in fairness I bought this system when bestbuy offered a free Klipsch Sub12 which made them a very appealing sat/sub set for under $700. If they brought this combo back it would blow everything at the price away. Overall this system is a bargain even at retail price you will not be disappointed. Accurate, dynamic, detailed just a great sounding system overall.

    Best Satellite System EVER!

I was so in love with my Yamaha 661 with the Klipsch Quintet III, when Yamaha came out with the "65" series with built in HD audio decoding, I wanted to upgrade. That old system moved from my living room to my bedroom, still very happy with it. Now I'm running the Yamaha 665 receiver with the SLX speakers. The SLX sound more "alive" in some cases than the quintet III, somewhat fuller, handle louder volume levels better. Fantastic for action and sci-fi movies. That SLX center channel is very effective in putting exceptionally clear dialog out into the room, which is a 20x20, plush furniture, carpet and drapes. If you're a trained musician, you'll find the Klipsch satellites aren't the best at classical music, but still are very detailed, and in this price range, tough to beat for any source. I'm not a trained musician, but have friends and acquaintances that play in a band or even have a Masters Degree in music, that have auditioned my system and were impressed with some of my SACD music playbacks. Especially when you can walk around the room and get uniform sound quality! You don't have to be in 1 particular spot to hear everything Klipsch has to offer. For music, I'm very pleased with these speakers, even at louder levels, and for movies I'm totally blown away! I have 2 Klipsh RF-10 subwoofers in this room at opposite front corners, been to a lot of movie houses with the latest digital technology, including IMAX. No, this system can't fill a 300 seat movie theatre, but mine sounds better in my house than any system at any theatre.

Klipsch Quintet SL 5-Piece Home Theater Speaker Sy

When I decided that I wanted to buy a home theater system my first instinct was to go with the Bose V20. But after comparing these two systems and doing a little research, the Klipsch speakers won hands down!! It sound great while watching movies, listening to music and playing video games. The satellite speakers have a comfortable look and size, which makes for a good look on the wall. I also added the Klipsh 12" sub to the system which I must say is a must have!! Powering all of this is the Yamaha - 980W 7.1-Ch. A/V Home Theater Receiver (Model: RX-V863BL) which provides plenty of power to get this system going and then some. You will be blown away buy the sound quality of this system!! I know I made the right choice and hopefully this will help you make your choice. Also as a side note I was a little worried about the size of my living room being to small and not wanting to over/under power it with these speakers but it works Great!! In my 12x14 Living room.

My husband really twisted my arm to buy these speakers. I was concerned because they just seem so expensive! I'm used to buying cheap entertainment systems from like Wal-Mart or something. He did do his research and we demo'd it in the sound booth and of course it sounded great in there b/c it's a tiny room with perfect acoustics. I still wasn't convinced, but, I caved and agreed to get the system. I am so happy I did! I can't tell you how amazing these speakers are! You'll hear every crumple in a car accident in a movie, you'll swear you're outside when you're watching an outdoor scene and hear each twig that characters are stepping on, and you'll swear you need an umbrella when watching a rainy scene. Seriously, I'm getting long winded now, but I really do love it! AND the CABLES, which I also thought were a rip-off, were WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!

I had been using a old 6.1 Onkyo set-up that I bought years ago at a CC. The Onkyo's were ok at best. I finally decided to buy these speakers when they were being sold with a free 12" sub (you just cant go wrong with that.) I have to say to those few bad reviews that was not getting the sound quality they desired... you must have gotten a rotted egg because these things sound absolutely amazing. The sound out of these things is very clear and clean. Me and my dad watched "Rescue Dawn" on these just the other day, and the part where the kid is holding the beetle above Christian Bale's head and its flying around in circles sounds wicked. Anyways if you are looking for a good surround sound that not only sounds great but looks stylish and neat, than look no further, the Quintet SL are the speakers for you! Also... I have these paired with a Onkyo TX-SR605, amazing receiver and a pair of the JBL Control 1X speakers for 7.1.

Excellent surround system for the price

This is a great surround system for the money. I have it paired with a Klipsch Sub-12 (which was FREE at the time of this writing when purchased with the Quintet SL system!!!) and a pair of Synergy III rear surrounds. The speakers are driven by a Sony STR-DG910 which is an excellent receiver and a great match for this system. The system replaces a Bose Lifestyle-25 which was great, but this new home theater really blows the Bose out of the water. It's clearer, cleaner, MUCH more flexible and MUCH less expensive. the 7.1 surroiund is great, too. I was skeptical, but even for 5.1 encoded content, the additional speakers really add something to the mix. Especially with music -- talk about "room-filling." The built-in mounting options are great, too. They make it very easy to run cable and install. Highly recommended.

One very complete system!!" I purchsed these with the 12' powered sub woofer, free add-on package. (Best deal at the time). If your thinking about Bose, think again. Bose uses paper cones. These use the polyurithan plastic cones. GREAT if you like playing PS3 video games with lots of explosions and loud effects. Less risk of tearing. Love watching friends look over their shoulders when playing a good surround sound movie... (Aliens vs Predator 2 has great effects) A quality unit. Nice and heavy with a professional feel. I'm looking forward to buying another set for my bedroom. Home theater sound quality at its best. And I've tried the package deals.... not even close. My advice... Get a good amp (Yamaha or Sony) at least 100 watts per channel and a good thick wire. (Doesn't have to be monster thick... but as a rule. The thicker... the better! Enjoy! CaZ

I had been looking for a home theater system for the last 2 years. I had one picked out from another store for about a year and I went to go buy it, but they were out of stock. I decided to stop by Best Buy and take a look and they had the Quintet SL set up as a demo. When I saw and listened to the system I completely changed my mind and came back to buy it the next day along with the same Yamaha receiver (rxv-633) I had already picked for the other speakers, plus a Sub-12. These speakers are more than enough for a 20x20 room. The sound quality for price exceeded my expectations. The only negative I have is the the satellite speakers don't have a stanard threaded mounting screw hole so you may run into problems if you want to mount them on stands or use different wall mounts than the ones they came with. But I was able to get some in store Sanus brand stands that work great with them.

Want a Wow Home Theater Experience?

Okay this has to be the best sound you can get with medium sized speakers. I was looking for something with a little more power and sound compared to home theater in a box speakers and something that wasn't going to take up a lot of space like floor speaker system. So there was the Klipsch Quintet SL. They are all black and have a very nice design. All the speakers are wall mountable and the front speakers would stick out no more than a wall mounted Flat Panel TV. The photo on here makes them look almost dark gray but mine are all black. The sound is awesome with movies and music. I just love it! You’re going to need a sub with this to complete the package, so I got the matching Klipsch 10in. Sub which was very nice as well.

Finally purchased this system after my friend convinced me they'd be the best investment ever. He has another Klipsch that I've experienced and indeed they were amazing. These are even better than the ones he has! (But don't tell him that) The guy at the store seemed to be a little jealous when he helped me take it to the car. I didn't know how awesome these would be until I watched my first movie with the system all set up. Let's just say it brings a whole new dimension to anything you watch, even if you've watched it a million times before. And on top of that, the wife actually likes how it looks! I was a little hesitant at their relatively small size at first but believe me, they've got better sound than systems twice their size.

    Great subwoofer

Great subwoofer. From my reading of other posts, there were some that had written that the bass was overwhelming the sattelite speakers at times. This made me hesitant about buying such a large speaker. Once I set it up, I made some adjustments and it worked fine with my smaller sattelites. I bought this with the Klispch quintet SL's and they sounded very well together. They subwoofer complemented the satellites quite well. At times I thought the bass was actually coming from the sattelite spealkers. One thing though, on the reciever I adjusted the frequency so that signals sent to the subwoofer were <120hz. This allowed for some midrange to be directed to the subwoofer making up for the limited midrange in the sattelites. Awesome setup, the movies sound great on this system.

I picked up the Quintet SL in Best Buy on sale for $639.00 one day special for Mothers Day?......was waiting for them to go on sale. The sound is absolutely amazing,The 0.75" aluminum drivers and the 3.5" woofers sound very clear ,rated at 50w rms(200w max.) even when paired with a 130w per chnnel receiver you wouldn't think they are only 50w. Complimented by S-1 back surrounds and the RW 12D Sub to coplete 7.1 system that sound as good as the more expansive ones,The ultimate test came when I watched the movies 'The Fifth Element' and 'Independence Day' on blue ray,at 28db the house shook, but no rattles from the Quintet. Highly recomended.

This by far one of the best home theater system out there. The quality is fantastic. You get a very clean and clear sound. The old system I had needed to be turned up and down because when it was low you really coudnt hear what was being said. When I would turn it up, it would be too loud. This one is just perfect. I got a free 12" klipch subwooder (man what a deal) that sucker is bad!! I honesly feel like I'm in a theater with speakers all around me. You will not be dissapointed if you hook everything right.

I purchased this along with the matching Klipsch 12-inch subwoofer. I thought I would test it out with a movie I knew well... Independence Day. What was supposed to be a 5-minute test turned out to be a movie marathon. Watched the whole thing while by basement floor (solid concrete on bedrock) shook madly. I heard highs and lows I never heard since the movie theater rendition. These speakers replaced a Yamaha Theater in a box. Same Yamaha receiver, just an awesome speaker upgrade. You simply can't go wrong with this system.

We love these speakers. In our last house we had a Sony surround system that we thought was good, but this system beats that one by a long shot. It seems expensive, but the quality is there. These are heavy well made speakers and the sound is great. The set-up was easy, just followed the directions in the manual. We have an open floor plan and were worried that it would not give us a true surround sound feeling, but we were wrong. This system is worth every penny in our opinion.

I bought this package to go with my HDTV along with the Denon 2803 receiver and it is a match made in heaven! I also got the Klipsch 12" sub to round out the package. The sound it reproduces is very crisp and clear. It almost feels like you're in the movie! I also use it for music and games and again I was not dissapointed at all. I would reccomend the package to anybody who is looking for a mid priced surround sound package. I believe I get more than my money's worth!!

Fantastic Sound Quality for an excellent price. No need to buy separately... all are fabulous. Can do without subwoofer... but better to have one. Rears can be mounted or set on a table (versatile)... Only complaint is that the logo on the center channel is sideways since the center channel speaker is the same as the two front, just laid on its side... Minor detail though....

It took me about 3-4 months to decide on getting these. I was going back and forth on whether to spend this kind of money, boy am I glad I did. The long look of the speakers makes these look like they border the tv and were a perfect fit. The sound is just as good as they look. If I could vote more than 5 stars, these would definitely get a 10.
