    Amazing Speakers!

    Posted .

I purchased these speakers for both music and movies. Now if you play the speakers alone, the bass is really tight but you need to make sure you are educated about your receiver to maximize the performance of these speakers. If you don't have a sub, you can increase the bass to these speakers so they sound less empty. These speakers are the cleanest speakers I have ever heard. I would recommend these to any friend. I picked up some awesome stands from Best Buy too! Great stuff; Klipsch, keep it up!

    Home Theater speakers

    Posted .

I rated this speaker 5 stars for home theater applications, 1 star for listening to music. Since I listen to music significantly more, my overall rating for this speaker is 1.5 to 2 stars. I purchased this speaker's bigger relative, the RB-61. Except for the bigger woofer of 6.5", and wattage ratings, both speakers are identical in design and tonal characteristics. Best Buy's Magnolia stores has since stopped carrying the RB-61's, but still sells the RB-51. For Home Theater applications, this speaker is phenomenal. The speaker's high sensitivity rating, the powerful woofers, and the horn loaded tweeters renders a movie's soundtracks, dialogue, and special sound effects wonderfully. I can hear every detail clearly and crisply. The speaker made me feel as if I was part of the movie I'm watching. The dynamic range and "in your face" loudness of all frequences (from lows to the highs) enhance the movie watching experience by brining out sound I can feel, both literally and emotionally. What makes this series of Klipsch speakers great for movies, however, makes it absolutely horrible for music listening. The exaggerated "in your face" loudness of the sounds emanating from this speaker makes listening to music a very fatiguing experience. In addition, the horn loaded tweeters are very directional, making for very, very small and specific "sweet spots" for listening to music. Often, the singer's voice sounds 'honky', which I will probably attribute to the horn loaded design. For dedicated Home Theater use, nothing beats this speaker. For music listening, Definitive Technologies' Bipolar Super Tower series is probably the more appropriate alternative.
