    Great Speakers...

Took home some Def Tech BiPolar 7004 with a Klipsch Sub (rw10d). This sounded great in the showroom and like absolute crapola in my house. So, off I went a demoing...everything magnolia had and all the other big box and botique HT/Music stores in my area. I really fell in love with the Paradigm studio and monitor series. Was ready to pul the trigger and noticed they had Klipsch in the same store. I auditioned the RF-62s and was blown away with how close they were to the Paradigms. I auditioned some older Klipsch Ref series (forget the model number) and they were much more bright and up front than the 62's. I got a price on both Klipsch and Paradigm and went home to sleep on it. On the way, I stopped by BB/Magnolia. Auditioned the RF82s with the Martin Logan Abyss sub. HEAVEN! Beautiful compliment to each other. Now I'm sold but....BB/Mag doesn't carry the compatiable center channel and rear surrounds for the RF-82's. They only carry the RC-52, and RS-42. Since BB/Mag was willing to pricing match the other audio dealer and give me 30 days to return and 24 months no interest (the other dealer did not have that) I decided to take it all for a in-home audition. Well, the RC-52 and RS 42 are fine with the RF 82 mains and Martin Logan Abyss sub (see my review on this fine piece of work). I am 70% music and 30% HT...this system is not lacking anywhere. I had an older Yamaha HTR 5560 receiver that I decided to upgrade. Got the Denon 3808 and the Toshiba A2 HD DVD player. I've got some audiophile friends (I USED to be one 25 years ago...before kids, etc...) that have listened to my system. They are very critical people and will tell you if cr@p is cr@p. Without exception, the comments are that they can't believe the sound quality of this system, especially when considering what I paid for it. It really is clean, powerful, deep in range, not too bright, not to upfront and not too laid back. I think I could have spent double and maybe improved the sound a bit...and been a bit more "stuffy" about my stuff. But I don't think the value would have been there for what I am looking for...for what my needs are. I exceeded all expectations with this set up. Best Buy/Mag needs to get it's act together and offer for Klipsch Reference series stuff. They need to offer the RW12d, RC62, and RS 52. Again, I am happy but...I bet they lose some sales because people may feel like you have to have these speakers to "match" what Klipsch recommends. The RC 52 is a very good center channel as well as the RS 42's being good rear surrounds. There is no hollow sound or lack in my system. It sounds better than any theater I have been to.

I made the trip down from Canada to Buffalo to make the purchase. Here they are sold for $1500.00/pair plus tax and in U.S they are $1000.00plus tax. At the time of purchase I bought the Klipsch Ref RW 10 sub and the Yamaha RXV 661 receiver and had 10% taken off all items which makes the RF 82s $900.00/pair. BB had only one new in box RF82 and a pair of demos on the floor so I took the chance and grabbed one off the floor for and extra 10% off hoping it was not abused by the night shift cleaners. All in all $850.00 plus tax and duty ($170) for the pair and they sound awesome. If there is a better speaker out there for the money it would shock me!! With a high end speaker like this you hear music differently. If you pay close attention you will notice many sounds you would never hear with inexpensive and mass produced speakers. Klipsch like many "speaker only" type companies invest a huge amount of time and money in research and design for sound and cosmetics and it certainly shows in this the RF series. Keep up with the great products Klipsch!

These speakers provide clarity and crispness throughout the range of this speaker. This speaker performs well regardless of the receiver attached, due to the high sensitivity they possesses. It functions well alone as a dominating 2 channel setup or as solid anchors of any surround sound package. The bi-amping feature of this speaker gives the user the opportunity to feed even more power to this robust speaker. The bass output is amazing and yet tight and solid without artifacts. The magnetic grills are flawless in their ability to be removed and replaced effortlessly. The copper color cones provide dynamic contrast and will turn heads without the grill covers. The five year warranty is staggering in this day and age. These speakers represent great quality sound at a good value with minimal compromises. I have nothing but Klipsch in my home and would recommend others to seriously consider these speakers.

For the price and quality of sound you get out of the Klipsch RF-82 you really can’t go wrong. I upgraded from some old Cerwin Vega’s that I thought still sounded very good until I hooked up the RF-82’s. The range and response difference was immediately noticeable using Monster Z-1 cables from a Sony STR-998 receiver. I also hooked up to my Sony ES receiver just to listen for any flaws. I was very impressed with the clarity of the high frequencies coming from these speakers. The bass is clean and tight even listening in a very live room. I then switched over to MIT bi-wire cables and I believe the sound rivals some of the B&W speakers I demoed. I am really enjoying listening to concerts as these speakers have a very live sound. I went for these speakers based on my budget and I am sure I made the right choice for the money spent!

As an owner of Klipsch Heritage series stuff (LaScala II's ($2750/each)and Heresy III's ($750/each)) I love Klipsch, but I am not easily impressed. I actually purchased a pair for the living room, the wife loves them for the fact that they sit in the corners and fill the room beautifully. I managed to get the proper center channel through another mail order store, as Bestbuy does not stock the matching center channel for these. The RF-82's are powerful, sound good at all volumes and although not handmade in the USA like the Heritage series, they are really awesome. From what I understand each RF-82 is inspected in Indianappolis, IN at corporate HQ. These are a good, high quality, highly efficient, good sounding speaker.

    Awesome Floorstander!

I've had these towers for over a year in my home theater system and they are awesome! The sound is consistent, clear, and can play louder (with no distortion) than most people will ever need, wow!!! Just keep in mind they are not little. I recently bought a more expensive, different brand of towers for my two channel stereo set-up, (I'm having a little buyers remorse) could have bought another set of RF-82's and been happy. My theater is powered by a 130w Yamaha RX-V1700, this efficient speaker can still perform with much less amplifier power.

The best speakers for under $1K

The effeicencey of these speakers are 2nd to none which is common trait amoung klipsch speakers.Youll get loud clear and dynamic audio reproduction with just the minimal wattage supplied from an AVR. saveing you money on standalone amps. The RF 82 is allso a very well rounded speaker for music and movies. These are sub $1K speakers that i would run against many $1K+ speakers BUT As mentioned previously by another reviewer they are big so it would be wise to check with the other half before purchase ( theres no replacement for displacement)

These speakers just blow away the competition. When I replaced my sony system with these speakers I couldn't believe the difference. The black design creates the feeling of giant sound presence. When i watched movies it felt like i was inside the screen experiencing every crushing blow with missles flying past my head in every direction. This setup redefines the way we watch our movies. The only thing you need to add to this is a very good reciever, and one of Klipsch's subwoofers and you'll be set for years to come.

The sound quality for these speakers are a 10 the reason I gave the review a 4 was The speakers were missing the floor prongs when I opened the box and the manufacturer wanted to charge me for them. Best Buy gave me the floor prongs so I did not have to return the 50lb speakers, overall extremly happy with the speaker. They are hooked up to an HK receiver and can handle the 110 watts per channel with ease.

Klipsch Is the Ticket for Home Theater

"Klipsch is the Ticket to Home Theater." These speakers rock. Great extension from lows to highs. Midrange really shines. Very efficient, not necessary to have a high powered receiver to drive these speakers. But would recommend a quality receiver. There is a reason that many of the large theater companies use Klipsch equipment. Best bang for the buck.

wow best $1000 spent. i currently have a klh 10in sub with 250 watt rms and the klipsch rf-82 drown out the bass of my sub. i previously owned the klipsch synergy f2's and when i turned the volume on my reciever all the way up the sound became very distorted and the tweeters started to crackle. But with the rf-82s that problem does not occur

Picked up the new set of towers about a month age. Love the sound quality. Thought of buying the def tech but I have pets and their towers would have torn up in an instant! Also love the fact that Klipsch is THX cert and proven to be an awesome speaker!
