Customers express satisfaction with the sound quality of the Fives Powered Speakers with HDMI-ARC, frequently praising the clear highs and mids, as well as the surprisingly good bass response. Many reviewers highlight the rich, full bass and impressive stereo separation, noting that a subwoofer is often unnecessary. The speakers' ability to fill a room with sound is also a recurring positive comment.

Way beyond expectations. They are gorgeous speakers with real wood veneer (not vinyl). And that tweed grill fabric - amazing. The knobs stick up a bit more than I really like. The bottoms are covered with cork - sound isolation and prevent the speaker from moving. Bass response is surprisingly good - I tested it with Audiocheck's low frequency sweep (10-200Hz), there was response at 20Hz, but was slightly rolled off until it got to 50Hz. For a bookshelf speaker, that's really solid performance.
This thing has so many ways to connect. The use cases are pretty much unlimited (not sure it makes sense as a television speaker, the HDMI arc connection being a bit overkill) - from turntables to computer to Bluetooth.
There is an oddity - the connection between main speaker and the second speaker is a big honking four pin proprietary DIN connection. You can't make your own cable to connect the two speakers. If you want the speakers farther apart, or hide the cable than the included cable - Klipsch sells an extension cord.
I'm using this as a computer speaker - the best part - they power on automatically if they sense output. They turn off automatically after a certain amount of time. Then if there is any sound generated by your computer, they power up. That's a bonus I didn't expect. I'm using an audio out cable, so I can't really judge the DAC built in. Something tells me it is better than most computers.
Oh, they play loud. I mean ear splitting loud. And still sound solid. You'll hear vibration - stuff on your desk rattling from the speakers.
Klipsch thought of most everything with these. On the website, they even have directions to remove the tweeter, woofer, and electronics panel. The speakers are totally serviceable.
If you're familiar with the Klipsch sound - their larger bookshelf or floor standing speakers - these fit right in with that quality. They are on the slightly high side price wise, but they seem to be worth it to me.
I love these things.

Awesome stereo sound with ability to connect subwoofer to the room outstanding performance that really fills the room from the small package. Bluetooth makes it easy to play your music from favorite device and still get that concert feel!

Pros: connectivity, HDMI ARC, Bluetooth, etc. sound: horn tweeter, bass extension, true stereo separation, beautiful wood veneer finish
Cons: app is useless - for now. Forum comments say this will be updated with more eq functionality but not yet. Netflix sound isn’t decoded properly (forums mention this also) so dialogue volume levels are much lower than ambience/effects level which makes constant volume adjustments necessary and a pain.
Ask me again when/if app is updated.

Great self powered bookshelf speakers for TV use

After struggling for months trying to find a self contained powered speaker that would work connected to a TV for home theater use or connected to a phone for music that wasn't a sound bar these were the only option left i found.
I have this TV sitting on a fire place mantle so there is no room under the TV for a sound bar. These bookshelf speakers sit nicely on either side of the TV and connect through the HDMI ARC connection for perfect TV theater use without the need for an additional remote. The TV can control and use these on its own.
The design of the speaker exceeds what i thought book shelf speakers could do for surround sound. The bass and treble are amazing for music of sound effects.
Well built and worth the price. I would highly recommend for TV or music use.

At first listen I thought they were dull. I did have high expectation. Good lows and mids but lacking highs. I have them connected through USB to my computer and use AppleMusic. Once I used the EQ it brought out the brightness of the fives. These are a good pair of powered speakers. Don't feel a need for a sub. Loud, no distortion. The only downfall is the APP. Should have an EQ to make user friendly.

2 sets DOA.. other than that a solid speaker set

Honestly the speakers are quite wonderful though it took me 2-DOA orders from the manufacturer before the worked as expected.
Rating follows that the order took longer than a month to fulfill from Best Buy. I contacted the manufacturer and they stated that the best buy bulk order would take much longer to fulfill than purchasing from them so I opted to buy direct.
Now for the honest review. The HDMI and USB cord that came with the set is very poor quality. It took a second to get the audio working properly on my Samsung Q Frame because to if compatibility issues with the audio codec. After getting this right the audio stopped clicking an cutting out.
When paired with a subwoofer the range of bass range is the speakers is moved to the subwoofer and you do lose some of the warmth from those ranges.
The still a very nice set, I enjoy the audio quality of the speakers themselves. As wells the separation of audio channels when listening to music you can really pull apart the sounds the artists developed.
3 stars goes to the quality control issues with the speakers.

Read and watched several reviews, these speakers live up to the hype. I was looking into getting a soundbar vs these bookshelf speakers but im glad i went with The Fives. I paired them with the Klipsch R-80SWI and WOW!! Soundstage in music is incredible and the movie experience is amazing. If you are looking for best of both worlds, music and movie experience, look no further.

Pros - Great sounding speakers, they get down very low in the bass.
Cons - Out of balance approximately 22 percent. Terrible customer service as I have read on other sites. Don't expect a reply, I left 2 different messages.

Good for Music, Bad for Multimedia

Great for stereo speakers for music, but not good for TV watching. The voices are muddy and not clear. This is due to the overall punchiness of the low end, which can be dialed back with a firmware update... but still lacks the clarity for watching TV. This is a huge draw back for these speakers since they include the HDMI ARC connect, which comes at a premium cost.

I've had a set of these for about a month or so and they're awesome and can hook up to just about anything. They sound and look great. If you're on the fence go for it.
