Honestly, this game is a blast!

I'm writing this review because of all the bad reviews I saw about this game on all the video game ratings websites. To be honest I haven't had this much fun playing any game in a long time. I play this game with my 4 year old son and he absolutely loves it. It's his first real video game besides iPad games, etc and he can't stop talking about it! I love how he can jump in and out of the game whenever he wants to and it doesn't affect the overall gameplay experience. You play as the character Knack and a second player can jump in and out of the game as robot version of Knack that helps fight the bad guys and can also help heal Knack. When robot Knack dies he just reappears whereas when Knack dies you have to start back at the last checkpoint you reached. Anyways the way the multiplayer works in this game is absolutely perfect to play with young kids or even older kids. The graphics in this game are really good and the story is very fun and I'll honestly be sad when we reach the end. I'll definitely go through the game again on hard mode since its so fun. This game gets 5 stars for great family fun that is challenging and has great graphics.

    Fun And Family-Friedly!(Kinda)

My kids are used to playing the Call of Duty shoot games, which even though it teaches great values like respecting our troops, it is a bit violent for young ones.I picked up a PS4 and a copy of Knack for my kids after seeing the friendly character on the cover, who looked like someone who adhered to a more family-friendly aesthetic. My kids adore it! In a way, Knack is still defending against terrorism (represented in this game by evill goblins ((but we adults can all tell what that's a symbol for)), which I think is teaching the kids important values in a less violent way. The only complaint I have is that the game is STILL a tad too violent and is not Spyro the Dragon. Could they not put spyro in the game? When Spyro loses his life int he game, he just spins and passes out. When Knack loses his life, he SHATTERS INTO A MILLION GORY GIBS! The first time my three year old saw this, she let out a gasp of abject horror. I lost a bit of sleep that night myself to be quite honest. At the end of the day, I'd still recommend Knack to any parent, but be warned: this one ain't for the faint of heart!

Knack seems to be Sony's stopgap title until they can release a true Playstation 4 flagship title for their younger audience. An ever-increasing problem in gaming is that more and more games are focusing on guns, violence, and mature themes, etc. This leaves little options for younger kids to get into gaming, unless they want to play exclusively on Nintendo systems. The Playstation 3 had a great new series with Little Big Planet, and Knack seems like it was trying to become that for this generation. However, it simply doesn't have enough going for it to become that. It can be brutally difficult at times and just doesn't have enough substance for more seasoned gamers. However, kids may still enjoy it and it's probably worth picking up if you want something to entertain a younger audience. Again, this title has been on sale multiple times, so it's definitely not worth buying at full price at this point in time. You should be able to find it at $29.99 frequentely in the near future, if not even lower.

This was a PS4 launch game and I did buy it within a week or so after I bought my launch PS4. After reading some negative reviews, I shelved it for a a while. I decided to give it a try and sure enough it was a joy to play. The game's learning curve is about an hour or 2. It's not the easiest game but it's not unfair at the same time. The story of Knack is very creative, and immersive. If you're into animation movies such as Toy Stories, Shrek, Ice Age, then you're naturally going to want to dive into this game. The controls of the game are simple. Movement is very fluent and action moves are a simple press of a face button. Super moves can be done with pressing O and one of the X Square or Triangle buttons. The only problem i have experienced with this game is the camera angles. You can't control where the camera is looking which puts you in a guessing game. Some enemies might be off camera and you won't know until you stubble upon them.

    Better Than Critics Say

I know Knack got bashed by critics, but it's a game that must be played/tried to form an opinion on. I've enjoyed the game so far. Quick points: story - the story has some holes in it, but it is straight forward and easy to follow. graphics - the game is beautiful and very detailed; you can see every piece/particle that makes up knack clearly gameplay - it's simple, I mean real simple...punching, super moves, and jumping, that's bout it...but there's a catch: difficulty - even though the game is simple, it's tough...i'm talking old school Nintendo tough...1 hit kills, lack of save points, AI has cheap moves, etc...the game looks kiddie, but it plays far from that... ...overall, i'd recommend Knack...it's a simple & fun game that provides a good challenge...if you have kids, they'll like it (move so to look at it)...my godson loves to watch the game get played...

I considered Knack when it was first released as one of the initial PS4 flagship/exclusive titles, but the critics reviews were lackluster. Took another look as user reviews seemed more enthusiastic, and my nine year-old son is sure glad I did. He LOVES playing this game with me, helping out as "Robo-Knack." The plot is not exactly original, the dialogue and voice acting are a little wooden, but the level maneuvering and combat are surprisingly imaginative and challenging. We enjoy seeking out hidden treasure chests with parts of special upgrades for Knack. My main gripe is how easy it is to re-spawn and gather additional resources, sometimes the incentive is to actually die a few times to pick up more sun crystals to use special attacks, rather than trying to gut it out with tactics/finesse (which I am accustomed to doing in Dark Souls etc.). But this game hits the mark for clean, family fun.

This game has a great concept. Take on elements and grow or shrink based on those elements. Problem is, the game is so linear, it only allows you to grow or shrink when the game wants to you. There is no exploration in the game what so ever. There is only one way to get to the end of each level. Also, the life your character has is terrible. You will die thousands of times during the game, most with just a single hit. This makes an already terrible controlled game even more frustrating. I had high hopes for this title, and while I am enjoying playing it, there are many frustrations and just plain lack of control and makes this game below average. Sony could have spent more time refining the title and they would have had a major hit on their hands. There is no coincidence this game is now at the time of writing $40

Knack is, in my opinion, a game quite reminiscent of the Crash Bandicoot era of the PS1. With the cartoony, semi-Pixar-like graphics, to the fairly simplistic story, it's something casual gamers can pick up and enjoy, but I found it to be rather difficult in spots and often had to restart certain sections multiple times before I bested them. That is not to say it's a bad game overall, but the fluctuating difficulty levels, as well as the length of some certain sections as opposed to others, can be rather off-putting on a first time playthrough. For myself, whenever I would get stuck and frustrated, I'd often quit and play something else for a few days until the initial frustration had passed. Again, that doesn't make Knack a bad game overall, just don't expect it to be as easy as your initial impressions might make it seem at first.

I'd like to start out saying that KNACK is not normally my type of game, but having Killzone Shadowfall, Assassin's Creed BF and Resogun I thought KNACK might be a nice change of pace, and have NOT regretted my decision. To be clear, this is not a platforming game, but rather a beat-em up with platforming. Reviewers have been harsh on the game, and I feel this is rather unfortunate, as it may dissuade its potential audience from picking it up. Mechanically, the game is fairly simple, and this is on purpose, evidenced by how you obtain power ups and upgrades, they are done slowly, through the course of the game, and more than likely you won't be able to use the majority of them until a 2nd playthrough.

Ratchet and Clank, Jak, and Sly......this game is not. Those platformers had an amazing amount of varied gameplay from puzzles, platforming, races, stealth sequences, weapons, etc. This game has two moves........jump and hit. That's it. There's no puzzles and platforming is extremely rare and minimal (i.e. jump here to there). You will pound away hitting jump and punch continuously for 10 hours. Every enemy is defeated in the same manner, including bosses. I was very disappointed but still managed to finish the game. I love the Ratchet and Jak games, but this game is nowhere in the vacinity of those games' greatness.

I purchased this game because my 8 years old daughter played a little bit of it in the store. I wanted to buy a game that we can play together that wasn't too violent. It was between this or the Super Mario 3D World for the Wii U. Most of the controls in fighting the characters is just jump kicking and punching. There isn't a lot of interaction with the environment to keep kids thinking how to beat the level. Very repetitive stuff. She lost interest fast and now it just sits on the shelf. Don't get me wrong, its not a bad game but you can do better for the price I purchased it for ($39.99)

One of the titles used to show off the graphical capabilities of the PS4 back during their famous 2013 E3 presentation/reveal, Knack actualyl is a pretty cool title that has a Katamari Damacy feeling to it. Think grabbing all the flotsam and jetsam around you, rolling it onto your body, then using that junk and the powers having that junk on your person imbues you with to take out enemies, and boom, you have cracked the game's da Vinci code. Don't expect Skyrim meets Mario here, but if you have a taste for mindless platforming, this is a gorgeous scratcher to take care of that itch.

    Disappointing PS4 game

For a PS4, this game is pretty disappointing. If you are a fan of the God of War series: this is basically the same but with less fun, less diversity, and less action. It is a nice game for kids and has a coop mode to play the main story with a friend. However, it does not have any multiplayer mode and once you finish the game (with or without a friend) it doesn't really have a replay value, since the game gets boring really fast. I had to force myself to finish the game. The plot is more than predictable and childish. All in all, it I was disappointed by this game.

I enjoyed playing this game with my sone. Just enough challenge for my son and I to play together without getting too frustrated. The story is good, and the way Knack grows during the game to work with the gameplay worked very well. My only complaint is the camera angle could change at funny times. It never caused any issues during fights or exploring, but it made no sence on the changes. Reviews show the game is good, but I feel it is better than most of the reviews give it credit for, and there is room for Sony to grow this character.

This is my first review ever and I have over 200 games so it's mean something. This game is the most unfair rated game I've ever had. I love Knack, story is pretty cool, gameplay is great especially on Hard if you like Dark Souls style games... If you love platformers you won't be disappointed with this game!!! I hope Sony Japan studio is working on a sequel cause I really had tons of fun with it.

Very Nice Pixar like graphics, I like the concept of the character Knack, but this game is really monotonous. All you do is follow a very pretty linear path fighting robots along the way until you reach a cut scene, fight a stronger robot, next chapter, rinse & repeat.(I've gotten by just pressing X,X,Square) The difficulty on the normal setting is what I'd call 'Hard', and the sound track is yawn inducing. This is the type of game I have to force myself to finish quickly so I can trade it in ASAP!

OK, so most games for the younger crowd are fairly simplistic, but they usually have more fun in them (ie the Ratchet and Clank games). This game was not challenging and although it had an interesting storyline, the lack of free roaming or even moderately complex puzzle solving kind of ruined it for me. For a younger kid (10 or under) this is probably fine, but as the game is rated E-10+, I think the older kids will lose interest in it pretty quickly and want to try something more challenging and entertaining.

I bought this game during the Christmas season for around $39.99 and for that price point I am happy with the game play. If I would have spent the $59.99 for this game that took less than a week to beat, then I would be highly upset. I work 15 hours a day and playing games relaxes me, so I play a few hours at a time and this game was very easy to beat. It is a good starter PS4 game, I would recommend to get it if you catch it on sale.

KNACK when it was first showed off for the PS4 several months ago, many people in the video game community kinda thinking it might not be the best, but I sadly disagree. In a game system where, like many others, there isn't an overabundance of E rated games for the launch of a system, it was nice to have this for myself and any kids to play that enjoy just fun over the top type of games with memorable characters, and fun without cursing and over the top violence.

Purchased with the system as I wanted a game. Not a huge fan of some of the limited new titles so got this one. Fun little game to play, nothing difficult here, my wife is even able to play it and she does not play games so it is fun from this point. If there are advanced gamers in the house they will beat very quickly and become bored with it. Good for those not wanting all guns and explosions, no nudity or bad language either.
