    Great for beginners

    Posted .

Over all, I'd have to say that this is a fantastic camera. With 12mp, HD, and tons of settings, it has kept me rather busy since I received it as a gift two months ago. When I first started "Playing" with the camera, I was a little disappointed as I didn't understand what most of the settings/features meant. But I was more frustrated with the fact that there wasn't a manual worth mentioning. So, I did what most people would do... I put it down and walked away. After a few weeks of walking by the camera (which started to collect dust on my desk) I picked it up and decided that I was going to find out just what this thing was made of! A few months later... and I'm glad I took the time to learn what I could about the camera and it's capabilities. I am still in the process of learning different techniques, but I'm fairly swift with the camera's settings/features now. A recent photograph taken from this camera was choosen to appear in a news article. The photograph that I am including wasn't used with a tripod to prevent shake... just a steady hand. Although the shake is sensitive, I believe it makes you take better photographs in the long run, but it can be annoying to see the yellow and red hand over and over. These flowers are smaller than the size of a small clover. If you look, you can even see the pollen on the petals, as well as the transparency of the petals on the far left. I think the more one uses and learns about this camera the better they will get, as will their photographs The adaptor wasn't included, but on the features list it says it is. I'm not sure what that is all about, but I don't think it's very business savvy to leave it out of the package. I am only a beginner, but because of this camera, I plan on purchasing a DSLR within a few months.

    Superb camera

I was amazed by the photos this camera takes. I have had Sony cameras in the past, so I was a little hesitent to buy a Kodak. Once you get used to the touch screen menus and such, it is pretty easy to navigate around. The camera has an Auto like mode, but even better. It intelligently selects the best sceen for you. It usally is right a good percentage of time. The HD video it captures is marvelous. The reason I gave it four stars, is because of the display being virtually unreadable in direct sunlight. But the great features and super images outweigh this. I have a couple of pet peaves. One, during playback of images, the lens does not retract after a certain amount of time, but this can be addressed with a firmware update. Also, the camera comes up in auto mode and it would be nice if it came up in the last mode used. I like using the P mode as the auto mode applies the picture perfect touch automatically and it takes a little longer to process. All in all a good camera.

I Got this Camera on the Dec 23, 2007 and also the High Definition Dock for Viewing on My 50 inch Panasonic Plasma, I was not disapointed at all. This Camera dowes it all, Having a degree in Graphic arts and Being an Avid Photographer I was amazed at the shots taken with the camera. I tend to Shoot on the fly to get candid photos and also do alot of scenery and of course family and event photos. this camera has not produced ond out of focus shot in the 250 I have taken. i also have taken 19 videos., When played back on the Panasonic Plasma the Pictures are breathtaking and the High Def Video WOW beats My sony DVD camcorder Everyone whio sees the Photos Whether it be on the TV or Computer are amazed . Trasnsfre to the computer is a snap the Conmputer recognized the Camera when i plugged it in to the USB Port and the Transfer Wizard Does the rest Just select the folder you want to save them to, no need for the Kodak Software here. all in all this Camera has it all . Just take the time to learn the Camera. Go through all the Settings and learn them You will not be Disappointed

    Best Camera Ever

    Posted .

This camera is the best so far I ever owned. It can record video, take pics, record sounds, it is crystal clear. I am a huge fan of reading what others have to say first before buying a product and this camera did in fact had great ratings compare to the rest. I did read that if you drop it, it is due for repair, so I have been holding my camera tightly, however my son came out of no where and push me causing the camera to fall on the floor and now the lens wont retract. I contacted Kodak and they charge 110.00 since it isn't covered under their warranty because it was dropped. My suggestion, when holding the camera, wrap the string on your wrist, so if anything happens, the camera doesn't fall on the ground, but hangs on air. Goodluck and again, I do recommend it 100%.... The pic was taken in Peru at normal mode first then zoomed in...

    GREAT PURCHASE!!!

THIS IS A GREAT CAMERA AND I WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO ANY ONE. THE PRICE IS GREAT AND IT TAKES REALLY GOOD PICTURES. IF YOU HAVE AN OLDER CAMERA AND ARE USED TO TAKING PICTURES WITH OUT FLASH AND NOTICE THE PICTURES ARE BLURRY ON YOUR COMPUTER, THIS CAMERA ELIMINATES THAT PROBLEM! UNLESS SOMEONE IS MOVING A LOT, THERE IS NO BLUR! THE ONLY DOWNFALL IS THAT THE VIDEO FORMAT IS QUICKTIME. I WISH IT WHERE MPEG. I CANNOT PLAY THE VIDEOS ON MY PS3 AND THAT IS SOMETHING I WISH IT DID. :-(

High quality in a small package

    Posted .

This is a great camera for advanced and beginning users; The presets that are available when you press the camera button allow you to take even better pictures if you match what scene you are trying to take a picture of. I would recommend a tripod if you plan on taking pictures at night. The only problem I do have with this camera is that when I try to review pictures immediatly after I take one before it has finished writing to the card, it will corrupt that last image. Its understandable, just have patience and wait for the SD Card image to stop flashing before you go back to review. Btw: Kodak software is not required to view images from the camera, nor would i recommend it... And the camera takes great closeup pictures! Included is a landscape picture from my camera of the lake.

    Buy with Confidence!

    Posted .

Bought it just before a Costa Rica trip Dec 2007. Excellent photos and videos with digital quality sound! I was even able to create still photos from the videos I took, right on the camera! (See attached photo) It was easy enough for other people around us to take pictures. AutoFocus, centering, ect. Buy it with the confidence you're getting a good buy!

Be mindful of SD HC compatibility

    Posted .

Great camera, but keep in mind for you lay people out there that you just can't go out and buy a 4 gig SD card, which others have suggested. They don't exist. You have to buy a 4 gig SD HC card, and there's a big difference so be warned. Chances are a 4 gig SD HC card will be incompatible with your reader, so you'll have to buy another reader. It's HC because the regular SD cards have a maximum 2 GB capacity. I'm betting some of the newer computers will be SD HC compatible, but check with your retailer. Overall I'm happy with my purchase so far, although I just got it. Very compact. Fits in the palm of the your hand. Great quality pictures and video. Finally, we're seeing cameras that serve dual roles well: still and video. Been a long time coming.

    Great all around camera

    Posted .

Bought this camera for all the features it provides and to replace a dated 4 mp camera. It is very easy to use and takes photos without any shutter lag. The touch screen is pretty easy to use, although it takes a while to learn all the functions. I was surprised an disappointed to find the only power cord provided in the box is a usb cable with a bunch of cheap plastic pieces that you have to snap together. The pieces are tough to snap together and dont feel like they are built to last. I actually couldnt get my to charge correctly, fortunately I was able to use the power cord from my old camera to charge it. I would recommed purchasing a seperate power cord or the hd dock which comes with a power cord. Also, the cover for the battery/memory card feels very flimsy, im afraid that it will break off too easily. Also, the camera is missing a seperate usb port to connect to a computer, something my old camera had. Instead, you must use connect a flimsy piece to attach the usb cord. This part is definately not well thought out. Overall I love the new camera, but only after purchasing the hd dock to simplify operation, so figure on adding $100 to your purchase to optimize the use of this camera.

    NICE camera - feature rich

    Posted .

This camera is simply outstanding, from a beginner's standpoint. The pictures are crystal clear and the high quality of the video it takes is definitely an unexpected bonus. It does earn two very minor demerits, however. First, it does not come standard with an AC adapter - you have to buy that separately (they are quite reasonably priced on Kodak's website, though). I found that to be a bit weird, but whatever. It does come with the USB charger/PC interface which does the same thing. Make sure your camera is charged before leaving home unless you bring your laptop everywhere you go. So far the battery life has impressed me - even when taking video, so that kind of makes up for not having the adapter. The second thing that off-put me a bit was the absolutely horrendous user manual it came with. To learn how to use anything but the most basic features (i.e. power on/off, charge, take or transfer a picture/video) you have to go online and read about it at their website. I expected to have a nice, thick and professional user's manual to scratch my head over for a few hours, but all that it comes with it is a flimsy black and white booklet the size of a CD insert, and less than ten pages long (with really big font and too many illustrations). This camera is extremely feature-rich, but to look at the manual you would think it's a one-time disposable. This great camera deserves a nice, thick glossy manual. I am certain that experienced photography buffs could find fault with this camera somewhere, but if you are a beginner or non-professional user (i.e. private home use), absolutely do consider this camera. It does not disappoint! Excellent value for the price.

Camera takes HD Video and great pictures

    Posted .

The main selling point, for me, on this camera was the HD video capability. At the time I purchased this camera I was actually looking for an HD Camcorder, but found them to be big and bulky. I was looking for one device that I could take on vacations that took both good still pictures and videos. I also found that the majority of the camcorders did not take high resolution still pictures. This camera was a great alternative to an expensive and bulky camcorder. It is great to have a small device that you can carry around, which takes both great videos and great still pictures. I have love the HD quality movies and have found no problems with them. I do not spend a lot of time watching them on my computer, but use another program, (that was not included), to burn them to DVDs and watch them on the TV. The videos do take up a lot of space, about 1 Gig for a 10 minute video. The pictures are good to and I like the hand indicater on the LCD that tells you if the picture will turn out. It is hard to tell sometimes if a picture is blury on the camera, but the hand indicator has been pretty accurate in telling you if it will be or not when you get it on the computer. I think this is a great camera.

    Nice Camera, somewhat impressive

    Posted .

This is a great camera for the price! I am what people call a photo fanatic! So my standards were high (for how little I knew about cameras), and was very happy when I received my camera. I do have to say that it can delay sometimes, and I did have a little trouble with it when I first bought it. The functions were easy to learn. The touch screen is very cool! I like this camera a lot, but all I did was compare this camera to others over the web, instead of testing in the store. I wish I would have, but all and all I am happy with it...I highly recommend trying out the Panoramic Stitch Mode! It is sweet :)

    Amazing Camera!

My wife was complaining our previous canon 6mp camera sometimes the quality of the pictures were doing good, sometimes disgusting! So we decided to buy another one with the highest mp available. I've read a lot of reviews about different 12mp cameras but kodak caught my attention with only one problem, But later on, knowing the availability of the firmware update that fix the slow issue of this camera, I don't have a second thought of buying it..........No regrets....The best!

    Great Camera

    Posted .

I've always been happy with the Kodak cameras I've owned, so after looking at several cameras I settled on the V1253. With reading many of the reviews here and at other sites, the V1253 had very positive reviews for the most part, and I agree with many of them. There were some concerns with people who did have issues, such as slow reading to the memory card and poor indoor picture quality. After purchasing the camera, I bought a San Disk Extreme 3 memory card. That appears to have not brought on the issue of having a gray processing screen before the picture appeared. Also, the indoor pictures were poor if I used one of the pre-set options. I instead, I used the custom option and adjusted the exposure compensation into the plus direction to about +1. This can be adjusted depending on how dark of an area you’re in so that the picture is not too bright. Unfortunately this adjustment will not stay if the camera is powered off, so when turning it back on you will need to readjust the exposure setting. A great camera to take pictures with, especially if you like taking panoramic views.

    AMAZING!

    Posted .

I took a picture of a spinning ceiling fan in low light conditions in auto mode. The picture came out flawless and you could see the wood grain textures on the blades as if it was motionless. I paid more than this for an old 4megapixel Kodak years ago. It is simply amazing what you can get now for your money. The HD video is easier than pulling out my MiniDV Video Camera, with better quality. Highly recommended. Glad I returned the Cannon sd1100 for this. The touch screen works great, even better with a palm stylus. It really does adjust to every condition. Two thumbs ups kodak!

    Outstanding Camera

    Posted .

honestly, the .mov videos cant seem to play smoothly on even the fastest computers. i converted them into wmv hd and the problem was solved. they look great the video quality is amazing for a digital camera. 720p HQ setting seems to get about 15-20fps rather than 30fps when used and the quality is slightly less than what you would get from a hi def camcorder, but it is still amazing video quality. however, there is some static when you record video indoors or in low light. the picture quality is quite good. doesn't do too well in low light conditions, but the flash takes care of that pretty well. the 16:9 aspect setting at 9 megapixels is very much appreciated too the camera is a little sluggish at capturing photos from the point that you press the button, but it hasn't affected me any. overall an outstanding camera. a little on the high end of prices, but well worth it depending on what you need it for.

    The World's Best Value

This camera is great. I decided to buy myself a new camera, because my 4 mp HP that I love is outdated. I could not have bought a better camera. One of my favorite things about the camera is the fact that you can use kodak perfect touch right on the camera. The camera also has a big screen so it is easy to see what you are looking at. If you are looking for a great camera at an awesome price this is it.

    Great Little Camera

    Posted .

I just bought this as my first camera and it's great. The pictures it takes are amazing. It's super small and easy to carry around in your pocket. There are tons of extra features to use on the camera itself to take pictures. You can even customize the camera to remember your favorite ways to take pictures. I love it. The only problem I have with it is the shake sensitivity. Sometimes it can get kindof annoying with how still you have to when you're shooting something, but most of the time it's not that bad.

    Best Macro on the Market

    Posted .

This is by far the best digital camera on the market. Don't bother looking at any others. If you can afford it, buy it. This camera takes incredibly close macro pictures and videos; stunning detail of coin grooves and all book material. The negative reviewers must have been on drugs. There is not a single flaw in this awesome device. A truly remarkable piece of equipment for $279. Sews together panoramic pictures seamlessly. HD video LCD screen is astounding. No sensible person could be dissapointed with this camera, even if were priced at $500.
