Disappointed - in Kodak NOT Best Buy!

    Posted .

Best Buy is ALWAYS awesome!!! Kodak... not so much. "First of all, I have to say that I rarely ever feel that a product is so poor that I need to post a negative review. I almost always leave positive feedback for any products we use and are happy with. However, I do feel it's important for others to be aware of possible issues. After having great success with a Kodak Easyshare camera in the past, when my son put a camera on his wish list for Christmas 2009, we decided to go with this camera. Less than 10 months later in September 2010, it suddenly stopped working completely. We were shocked since we had positive experience with Kodak in the past. Still under warranty, we shipped it in for repair. Then, we were told that the camera had rust AND corrosion on the inside and the warranty was voided. So, in order to have the repair completed we'd have to pay $79.95 in addition to the $8 shipping it to them we'd already paid. Since we've had the camera, it has NEVER come into contact with any liquid whatsoever. Even if it had, there is no way it would have rusted and corroded to this extent since we've had it. After several emails, and a phone call (25 minutes on hold) to Customer Service, I was told that there was no option. We'd have to pay for the repair. We have decided to cut our losses and just purchase a new camera. This time we're going with a Sony for our son since we have several other Sony products including two digital cameras and they always stand behind their products. The photo I'm posting is a photo taken by the repair center."

    Good cheap camera

Is best to use intelligent mode without moving to much. Focus precisely. To use in lowlight places use ISO or museum mode. This is a good camera if you know how to use it. This is an easy to carry camera and convenient. For its price I recommend it!

    Great First Timer

This is the first camera I ever bought. I first got it home and the battery would not charge. I spent at least an hour trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. Turns out if I really pushed the power cord hard into the camera , I could get it to make a connection. Any wiggle and the connection would be lost. I took it back to Best Buy the next day and exchanged it. The next one I got works perfect. When I look through the LCD it appears the picture will look grainy. Once taken, it appears fine. After loading the picture on the computer, most looked perfect. I took a lot of pictures of downtown that I was impressed with. I take most all of the pictures using the "Smart Capture" setting. There are plenty of settings to play with! Taking pictures at night was a little iffy. I played with the settings quite a bit. As a first camera, it takes great pictures.

    Good Camera I Like it

The screen is a good size for me. It doesn't have a viewfinder but I have stopped using one anyway. The menus are easy to use and there are alot of options. I have mostly use the default one. I still have some features to try out it is still new. The battery has to be charged in the camera and I like to have a back up. I should be able to find a charger for this size battery and charge is outside the camera. For now I will plug in the camera.

    I LOVE this camera

I absolutely love this camera , i pre-ordered it and when it got here i loved it.I had been shopping for cameras for a while , before i bought this one i had bought two others and returned them because the quality wasnt worth the money. But this camera i adore! the picture quality is perfect in all lightings and that is most important to me , the size as well is great its small is able to fit into a purse or pocket. Even if you are a first time camera shopper this is very simple and easy to use. One more thing last but not least , i really like the burst feature that makes those movie sequence type pictures , i love it! I would definitly get this camera its well worth the money !

Very Good, Easy to use camera

    Posted .

We bought this for our daughter for her 17th birthday. We first bought a Nikon CoolPix and it took terrible blurry pics. We took it back and bought this camera. The gears do make some noise, but the pictures are perfect and it is very easy to use. Our in-laws used it for a trip to the west and again beautiful pics. We just used it for our daughters senior pictures and they look professional. We couldn't ask for more for the price.

    Good Camera

I like my new camera very well but it has a couple of drawbacks. Not being able to see as well as I used to I find it hard to set it to the correct setting. The symbols are too small for me to see and alot of the time I am out in direct sunlight and it makes it harder to see. I like to have a camera that is basic and simple as the ad indicates "point and shoot". I don't care about all the different settings and styles. The pictures I take for work are of work and just needs to show the subject. All and all it is a Kodak a brand that I have found in the past to be one I can count on. I like the fact that it is small and easy to carry on my belt, just make me one that is really a point and shoot.

I bought this camera after my Kodak EasyShare V1253 12mp camera was dropped on granite. I looked around for something equal in size and price and really loved the Kodak menu system. Eventually i purchased this from Best Buy for around $119. I was majorly disappointed with this camera, and went on ebay and bought a V1253 again. For the extra money I should have gone with either a Kodak Z915, Canon PowerShot sx120is, or the Canon PowerShot sx220is, although they are a bit thicker cameras. Ok, the main problem with this camera is that it constantly makes mechanical noises as it focuses and refocuses. Constantly!!! This gets extremely annoying in about 2 minutes. Also the picture quality is far inferior to my old Kodak v1253 which i bought 2 years ago. They have all the same features and even the same 12 mega pixels. The v1253 however is advertised as being an HD camera. The pictures were not very clear compared to other 12mp cameras and i am starting to look for better quality over cost. If you are stepping up from 5-9mp this camera will look fine. But if you want to get great results i would suggest a better camera. Kodak is still a great camera but i would step up a few models and leave this one on the store shelves. I am still very happy with my Kodak V1253 (after all i bought a second one) but if i didn't find another V1253 i would have purchases the Z915 or the Canon sx120is or sx210is. They take far better quality pics even though 2 of them are only 10mp....the pics i took of them look like the ones i get from a professional photographer when i want family shots for my living room! Overall, the quality doesn't measure up on this camera, I do not recommend.

    not very good at multitasking

    Posted .

I bought this camera about 3 months ago for a camera that i can take with me everywhere. The camera does excellent still photos but every once and a while i do need to take another photo do to a random blurring effect in the picture. But the time comes every now and then when u want to take a short video, you know nothing serious just a little clip. If you want to get a camera that you can take a good video with than keep on looking because this is not for you. While taking videos the audio is terrible do to the sound that the auto focus produces any time something moves in front of the lens. The sound is very distracting while replaying the video and in some case can make the target of the video inaudible. I know this camera is not meant for vids but still I would like to see a little bit of multitasking.

    Well, I dont HATE it...

Design: Nice and thin Features: Well, its fun to show off to your friends all of the cool features it has! Although, im not saying they work great... Picture quality: Well, the pictures ARE lovely on the LCD screen, however when you upload them to the computer they are either all blurry, black in the background, or the people have red eyes. Charging: PEOPLE NEED TO STOP WITH THE CHARGING ISSUES! I HAVE HAD NONE! BEST CHARGING EVER! EASY TO PUT BATTERY IN THE RIGHT WAY IF YOU READ THE DIRECTIONS! AND A BONUS IS THAT The charger is a plug thing where u plug the USB part into the charger so if u wanted u could charge ur ipod..... Button Problems: None. Design is perfect and makes camera easy to use.

    Very poor camera

    Posted .

I bought this camera for two specific events - my son's birthday and Monday Night Football at the new stadium in Arlington, TX. About 90% of the pictures taken at the party were blurry to the point they had to be deleted. Fortunately we had 3 other cameras clicking away, otherwise we would have missed getting pictures of his first birthday cake. Indoor picture quality is TERRIBLE. Outside is slightly better, and oddly enough it is better when there is motion versus still pictures. The football game pictures were not very good. I was sitting 5 rows in front of Jerry Jones and couldn't get one picture of him that is not blurry. Pictures of the game taken from my seat in the 10th row were blurry in 75% of the pictures. What is frustrating is that the pics look good on the LCD screen. But when we get them on the computer they are just very poor quality. I thought that perhaps I have shaky hands, but everyone that tries to take pictures gets the same results. Since the party and game, I have taken the camera to the zoo, pumpkin farms, on vacation to California, and other places - we just make sure we take 5 or 6 pictures of everything so we have a better chance of getting a decent pic. We have an old Kodak Easyshare we bought in 2005 - it is much better, but it is beginning to "die." We will likely purchase a more expensive Nikon CoolPix or something along those lines before Christmas.

    Good Decent Camera

Camera did make a hard drive noise at first but in the settings you can shut that feature off, so I don't have anymore problems with that. Average camera for the price. Bonus is the shutter speed, can take pic after pic fast.

Purchased to replace an older camera. The quality of photos has been quite good. There are quite a few features that will take a little time to get used to. The face detection sometimes gets confused.

    great camera

i dont always think that all cameras are great, but this one is. its got the same features as older kodaks but better, and some others too. great picture color, pictures look real. I've read complaints about quality, but that's not true, the resolution is for prints to look better, even if they are small. and i find no bad resolution looking at the pictures in the computer. Shoots fast and you see image in screen in a blink, loads pictures fast for an easy view. I mean this is all you can ask for in a camera. And the price, which is not 149.99 is great for this camera

    LOVE IT!!

Love this camera. Very easy to use and very slim and light. I have only had to charge the camera once since I got it on Christmas day. The down side is a memory card is a must for this as the internal memory only holds 11 pics. Great camera for sale price and luckily memory card came with it. Pictures are great and the software that comes with it makes it easy to load onto computer and to tranfer to FB.

This camera was a gift form a freind. I really enjoy the size of the screen. It takes really good qualitity photos. My boyfriend and I walked around best buy and took pictures with some of the other cameras that were the same pixels, and they looked a little grainy compared to this camera. Although I am still figuring out all of the features, I am really enjoying this camera :)

    Good buy from Best Buy

Took to Mexico recently. Great turn out with indoor and outdoor pictures. I have 2 other Kodak cameras and love them all. I bought this camera specifically for everyday and vacation use. I was pleased with the outcome of portrait and landscape pictures. My sister has the Nicon Cool Pix and it stinks. All of her pictures from the trip were blurry and dark.

My mom bought me this camera and it is great. I have had it for a couple of weeks now and i like everything about it. For the price, it is a great camera and has some essential features that earlier versions of the Kodak dont have. i recommend this to anyone who wants to buy a digital camera with great video, sound and picture for a very reasonable price.
