    Excellent camera for the money

I bought this camera on sale for $89.99 and was blown away by the features it has for such little money. I am a long time Kodak user and have had 3 different cameras and this is the best and the cheapest by far. I've also never paid more than $150 for a digital camera. The first I had was a 3.0 mp that I paid $150 for and the second was a 5.0 mp I paid $120 for. Neither had true auto-focus and neither had any on-board editing features (mainly cropping). This camera automatically adjusts for the lighting AND will focus without you having to press the button lightly before taking your picture when you have it on the Smart Capture setting. The only downsides I've come across is what I mentioned above. You MUST use lithium batteries or you will be putting cheap alkaline batteries in every 20 or 30 minutes (as another reviewer found out). Consider the two alkaline batteries that come in the package free sample batteries. They'll give you just enough time to turn the camera on, take a couple pics, scroll around the menus to see how it works, and then they're gone. Also, we're talking about a 12.3 megapixel camera people! You HAVE TO use a memory card! Why people want to buy cheap batteries and no memory card for a digital camera this day and age, I'll never know. You've already saved a ton of money buying this camera for $90-120 instead of a $200-500 Sony or Canon. It's a great camera and is well worth the price, even if it's not on sale. Oh! Another cool feature is there is no instruction manual or user's guide. It's IN THE CAMERA! All you do is highlight a feature or setting and press the Info button and it will explain what it does on the screen! Another reviewer mentioned something about the video not having sound. I haven't tried recording video with it yet, but I would be shocked if it didn't have sound. All the information says it has video with sound. There is a good possibility that I'll never find out whether it does or not because I have a video camera that I use to record videos with... But don't expect to buy a Kodak camera for just at $100 and be taking professional quality photos. If you're extremely worried about picture quality and grainy looking photos and lighting settings, you should probably invest in a more expensive camera. I took Christmas and New Year's pictures with this camera and they came out great. My girlfriend and I took pictures on Christmas Eve and printed them out on our Kodak Photo Printer Dock and put them in the Christmas cards we gave to family and friends. So, if you want to save some money and capture some memories, buy this camera!

Excellent price for something that takes such good pictures and video's. Just used on vacation and my son who usually burns up my old camera from taking so many consecutive pictures and no problems. It kept up with him and took great pictures. I also like the panoramic pictures that you can take. If you do it right they turn out pretty good too. He even used the video option which was great. Definitely would recommend this camera and have already done so to friends. I also like that fact that I can put my own batteries in it instead of having to recharge a battery. That was a plus for me because I hate to be somewhere and the batteries dies and you can't take anymore pictures. That has happened with my husbands camera. That is why I will not buy a camera like that.

    Great Camera, rough battery life

I had to replace a Kodak Z730 a day before a trip out of town, so I made a quick purchase of this camera, without really investigating it alot. It has many of the same features as my last camera, and then some. I especially like the option of taking 3 sets of photo's and having the camera sew them together into 1 picture - a great option for scenic shots. The only feature I really miss from the 730 was the on board speaker for playing back video. The viewing screen seems much larger, and the camera itself is lighter and more compact than my previous model. The one thing I was kind of concerned with was the battery. My older camera had a lithium battery, and many times I would be out taking pictures only to find that my battery wasn't charged. So I really wanted a camera with a standard battery that could be purchased anywhere I needed to. The one thing I hadn't looked at was battery LIFE. I started with some cheap dollar store AA's only to find my batteries dead after just a few hours/ pictures. The next day I bought some Energizer's with enough to spare. If you buy this camera, just make sure you also purchase higher end batteries, and keep some spares handy.

I upgraded to this camera from a 3.2 MP Easyshare that I'd had for years and was starting to show it's age, right before a 2 week vacation. After reading some of the reviews I was unsure if I should bother with an upgrade or just make do. Concerns about battery life made me leery. But I went for it and am so glad I did. I loaded it with an 8 GB memory card, necessary as the internal memory holds less than 10 shots, and a set of rechargable batteries and went on my way. I came home with a couple hundred nice shots, and only had to change the batteries once. My one recommendation to those who complain about battery life is turn off the camera if there is some time between shots. For example, there is no point in having in on as you go from one attraction to another.

Pictures are BETTER quality than my Nikon!

I lost my brand new $300 touch screen Nikon and didn't want to spend a lot of money on a new camera. Before the Nikon I had a Cybershot from Sony it broke down in about 2 years. I figure that if all these "top of the line" cameras are going to break down or get lost within a 2 year timeframe, why spend so much money on them?! I saw this camera at my local CVS, but I bought mine at Best Buy because I had a few gift cards and it was on sale for $89.99. It looks and handles like a "cheap" camera, but it's all about the pictures- and this camera delivers!! If it breaks down in a year or two, my feelings won't be hurt because it cost me less than $100!! I bought this camera because of the price and because all the great reviews on the Best Buy website. The picture quality is amazing! It has better features than my Nikon and I can honestly say that I like it better than my Nikon and my Sony!

Camera is only good for still life

This camera has a bunch of settings, including one specifically made for things in motion. Using that setting, maybe 4 out of 50 pictures you take will be clear and not have the blurry and streaky look- if you're lucky. Using the general picture taking setting, you'll get about 1 out of every 50 pictures to look normal. So as long as everything you take a picture of is still, you'll like quality of the pictures and would be somewhat satisfied with the camera. The battery life isn't great and you have to reset the date and time every time you swap out batteries. If you're going to get this camera, invest in some rechargeable AA's- you'll need them. Also, the layout of the camera buttons is a little awkward. It's almost impossible to hold the camera and take pictures without putting at least part of your hand or fingers on the screen, which obviously makes the screen dirty.

Ok,I got this camera as a last minute Christmas present, I don't even think it's worth a reveiw I just wanted to warn others of this product.I guess it takes good pictures but guess what it only lets you take about 3,then the internal memory is all used up.The video only last about 7 or 8 seconds and to make it worst it has no audio in the video, what am i making a silent movie like Charlie Chaplin! Its also bulkier than it looks on the computer. The batter life SUCKS!!!I was playing around with it when it totally shut off on me and I just opened the Christmas present not 20 or 30 minutes ago.The zoom is not all that and neither are the pictures,I mean they're ok I guess. But trust me think twice before buying this and I only got this camera because it was a LAST MINUTE PRESENT and all the better Kodaks were SOLD OUT.Ok and thts it for my rant.... I mean review ^.^

Camera broke 2x in 1 year and Kodak won't fix

My Kodak camera broke twice in the same year with the same problem and Kodak fixed it the first time but refused to fix it the 2nd time unless I paid the $80 repair fee. When I turned the camera on, it would immediately turn off (camera was not dropped or in any other way hurt, it just started this problem after charging it). After arguing with Kodak for an hour, they told me they would give me 25% off the service fee. I liked the use of my Kodak camera but based on their workmanship (the camera breaking twice in 1 year with the same problem) and their customer service, I will never buy another Kodak problem, ever.

    A steal!

I was skeptical about paying so little and getting great quality but this camera is a steal. I'm mainly taking pics of my son who, of course, never holds still for a pic but so far every pic has come out great, no blur at all. The batteries that were included died very quickly which worried me but since then the replacements has lasted a long time. Video quality is also great. The one problem I've had is that it froze once shortly after I bought it. I had to take the batteries out and back in to get it right again. Other than that it's perfect, I've already gotten compliments and recommended it.

Bought this camera for one of my kids to take on vacation. The camera, combined with a 4GB memory card and a nylon carrying case was perfect. The camera took outstanding photos that were later easily uploaded to the computer, Facebook, etc... Very simple to use, nice large screen, compact, but with a sturdy feel to it. The 4GB memory card holds a huge number of photos and the case kept it safe, even from the 12-year-old operator! Get this camera, you won't be disappointed.

    Disappointing memory writing lag

Cons: Camera case is plastic. There is a long delay after the picture is taken until it is written to the memory even when using internal memory or a super fast (extreme 3) SD memory card. This makes it feel like prior generation cameras from years ago. Pros: The lag between pressing the button and the picture being taken is actually more reasonable. Large LCD. Decent pictures especially in full light or indoors with flash. In summary: It could work for someone just starting digital photography in view of the low price ($65 on sale). Doesn't compare however to a $100 decent modern camera...

I've been a Kodak fan since my Retina IIIC days back in the 50's ,while serving in Stuttgart with The Seventh Army. My first digital camera was a Kodak DX4900/w/ Dock, which is still in use. When I read about this camera, I was in shock, double digit Mega Pixels, huge screen and AA batteries for around $100. My DX4900 was close to $400 ( It's been worth it) has 4 Mega Pixels, a tiny screen and eats expensive batteries. Talk about progress, it's small ,easy to use, takes great pictures and it doesn't cost a bundle

I got this camera yesterday. I thought i was really going to enjoy it!! Until this morning i noticed it making this strange noise like a fax machine!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the zoom kept moving like it was trying to focus, it was really strange!! Anyway i am taking it back, because i think if im going to spend money on a camera it better work like it is supposed to!!! And lets face it any camera that sounds like a fax machine and the zoom moves even when you are not trying to take a pic, just ain't working right!!!

    Clear, Useful, but Bulky

    BurnoutDrift

This is a great beginner camera to use. It has a high amount of megapixels for the low price of under $100 along with its useful features. You'll need an SD/SDHC card though since it can only hold a few pictures and videos. I like the fact that it uses AA batteries since you do not need to wait for an hour to charge it and instead reload the batteries and continue taking pictures. However, if you can stand the bulkiness and the bland silver color, you'll be set on taking fantastic pictures.

I've been looking for quite some time for a camera that could take great pictures as well as short video clips with sound. This product has both and I couldn't be happier - especially with a 4 year old grandson that provides me with lots of photo/video opportunities! Being able to instantly transfer the photos/videos to my computer also allows me to share these precious moments with friends and family out of state.

I ordered this camera because it was time to upgrade. I started listing items on eBay for auction and was not getting good pics like everyone else so I evaluated my Fuji 3.9 mega pixels digital and thought it time for an upgrade. It is a world of difference. My pics come out great now and I am getting more exposure with my auctions. A picture tells a thousand words and with my EasyShare my pics speak for themselves. Thanks Kodak and Best Buy

I found this camera on clearance and was shocked by the price (I paid around $80), since it's a 12mp. When I got it, the first thing I noticed was that it was very lightweight. I was worried that it would also be light-duty, but that's not the case. I bought it before Christmas and have used it SEVERAL times and love it. It takes great photos. Only complaint is that it goes through batteries EXTREMELY fast (it takes AA).

I absolutely love this camera. Especially since I got it while it was on sale. A whole $20 off. I would recommend this to people that like to just get straight down to the pictres without all those unecessary extras. I love the camera s much to the point where I consider it my "baby".

We were very disappointed. This was the first time we purchased a Kodak digital camera. It worked great for about two hours, and then quit working! Our first day of vacation at Universal Studios in Florida, and no camera... And, yes we did try new batteries. ; ) We are going to return it this weekend and will think hard about what kind of camera we select as a replacement.

    Excelent product. Ideal priced

It is an excelent product. High quality photos. Pictures are a little bit heavy, but this is understandable due to the high megapixel offered. I guess that there should be a way to low down the resolution when taking pictures to a lower megapixels performance (if needed) but I haven't figured out how to do it yet. Other than this, I'm so happy with my purchase!. Price was really reasonable.
