    Great Camera...

I did my research on cameras and finally decided on this one. I wanted the zoom, I wanted to be able to take cute shots of my young son, and then turn around and take fun artistic shots of nature or animals at the zoo. Sure, it's a bigger then the slim cameras. But, I always carry a bag anyways, and you simply can't beat the 12x zoom in this price range. One con is that the lcd screen doesn't have a high resolution. But, it's better then what I expected after reading other reviews. I cared more about the end result--the actual printed or shared photos. I was torn on spending the extra $100 or so for the newer model z812, but it just wasn't worth it. I don't plan on blowing up my pics to life size, so the 7mp suits me just fine. Buy this model, and spend the extra $100 on the memory card, bag, rechargeable battery and charger. Camera is very user friendly and I was taking pictures out of the box. The camera is also lighter then what I was expecting, and I found it very comfortable to hold and use in my hand. Pop up flash is a bit of a surprise at first since it pops up fast with a "pop" sound. I wish it came with a rechargeable battery, but after having a Sony Cybershot for years with a special (dang expensive too) recharable battery, I was happy to purchase a rechargable battery for this one with the knowledge that I can always throw in a couple of AA batteries in a pinch. The quality of the pics blow me away, and I simply love the photo software it comes with, and this comes from a photoshop expert. The Kodak software allows you to make quick changes and get them printed. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone. You simply can't do better in this price range.

Great camera for this price range

As a hobby photographer with an interest in nature photography, I was looking for a digital camera with a good zoom lens and a camera that would take decent pictures. This camera has exceeded my expectations. I particularly like the Smart Scene feature which has taken great shots in the auto mode, without even getting to the other settings. The zoom is better than I have had with a previous 35 mm camera. This camera has a quicker shutter release than many other digitals and I have been very impressed with some of the mid action shots I have taken of wildlife,The functions are easy to learn. Minor drawbacks (very minor to me in comparison with overall function of camera):EVS/LCD functions cannot be used simultaneously; a small button is pressed to use one or the other. There is a pre-flash when using the flash mode, however, this is not hard to adjust to once you know it's there. The accompanying user manual has good basic instructions, there is good online help. I found the software to be satisfactory; some features are immediately available; others have to be obtained on line. This was not an issue for me as I have other photo software. With personal creativity and taking the time to learn all the functions, this camera can do just about anything you want and more until you are ready to move on to more advanced photo equipment. I am exremely pleased thus far.

    Great camera!

Although this might look like complicated, it is an easy to use camera. I just started playing around with the camera and could easily figure out what each setting was for. It would have been even easier if the camera came with the complete user's manual instead of having to download it. Not everyone has a computer and/or internet access which makes it difficult for those people. The pictures come out great and you can enlarge them up to 20" x 30" which is fantastic. I love the software that is included, you can edit, crop, fix your pictures easily. A few things that I didn't like is that the 2nd day I had the camera, the neck strap broke and I almost dropped the camera! I think the camera was a little heavy for that teeny strap. I already mentioned the user's manual issue above. Another thing is that the camera comes with a non-rechargeable battery. With the 2 other Kodak Easyshare cameras that I bought, they each came with a rechargeable battery, so I was surprised when I went to use my camera and it didn't even turn on. So I had to go out and buy a $30 battery on top of the $280 I spent on the camera, I think that the battery should just be included. Overall I think this is a great camera!

We have used different cameras over the years, but this one is definitely the best one yet. The pictures were always crystal clear and of great quality. We like being able to do short video clips as well. Another great feature that I enjoyed was the panoramic feature. You take 3 pictures in a row and it will stitch them together for you. The other nice thing is it shows you the edge of the picture you just took so you can line up the next shot perfectly! Many different shooting modes to choose from, I'm still playing with all of them to find the perfect ones for each situation. But even the auto setting does a wonderful job. We did notice that the battery pack that it came with lasted forever it seemed. But once we started using regular AA batteries they seem to die quite a bit sooner. But I'm sure if you spend the extra for quality batteries that won't be an issue. The batteries still last longer than in our old camera. Overall, a wonderful product with great features that are easy to use and deliver a wonderful picture every time. Would highly recommend this camera!

    Great camera for little money

My brother in law just bought this camera last weekend. I have the older version of this camera and I got to play around with his for awhile. Definitely a very nice camera. This is one stellar camera. If you don't have the money to spend on an SLR, this is a good alternative because it has many manual options. The menu is set up well and is very intuitive. I particularly like the "macro" shots. Battery life is excellent. Picture quality is good. 12X optical zoom is great! The AF is pretty good...sometimes a bit frustrating. I wish they'd put manual focus on the lens of these camera's. The only con I have is the startup/shutdown times. It's not an "instant on" camera. You have to wait for the lens to extend and retract depending on whether you turn it on or off. Excellent camera!

Hi I bought this camera because of its ease of use and all the reviews I have read. It takes great pictures and the information button on it tells you what to use each mode for. This is my very first digital camera. Was afraid to buy one because I thought they were complicated to use. The Macro setting takes great still closeups such as flowers or figures. The settings are perfect for everything. I learned how to use it in one day, that is how easy it is to use. Would reccommend this product to anyone who is looking for great pictures and ease of use. The 12X optical is perfect for zooming in on those far away distances. For the price you get a great camera!! Kodak kudos for the camera.

I bought this camera with the help of the Photo Department Manager. He asked me what I was looking for in a camera and brought me right over to this one along with showing me others I may be interested in the same catergory. I love the zoom. I take lots of photos. The auto mode is awesome. No mater if its night time moving objects or a posed photo. I have been very pleased with my purchase. At any event I attend, I take between 100 to 200 photos throughout the event. The only negitive aspect about the camera is the battery. It shoud come with recharageable and an AC adapter to recharge. but I buy the lithium batteries and they get me through my days. Overall I love this camera It is so easy to use I don't miss the action at all and capture for great memories.

This is a very easy to use camera and worth the money! This camera takes very nice pictures, close up and far away. The ability to zoom in and take a far away picture without losing detail is a great feature. The camera recognizes the need to use the flash and opens the flash on its own, so you dont have to worry about that. It can select the most appropriate type of photo and has several action, night, day, etc. shots to choose from. I cant say anything wrong about this camera. I especially like Kodak because it really is "easy share". Photos are easy to down load and the connecting cords to hook up to your TV are easy to plug in so you can see your photos on the TV! This is my 3rd Kodak and I have been pleased with all of them.

I bought this camera simply for the Zoom. After bringing it home I have turned into a photo junky. This camera takes fabulous photos with all the different settings. You don't even need to use an owners manual to use this camera. Three people I know have gone to buy this camera after viewing my Kodak Gallery. Many people commented on my Hawaii pictures that they look like post cards. The only thing I wish it that it was a bit slimmer for taking to a wedding and that it took better motion pics in bad lighting. This camera gets a 10 in my opinion. As for the battery packs, they are a necessity. Every camera today uses a lot of charge to operate the zoom and focus. I even use the video mode and that too is awesome!!!

This camera replaced an older 3.1 mega pixel Kodak camera that would no longer accept memory cards. When we saw the 1st photos from this camera, we were stunned. The clarity and detail was simply amazing. The "beach" setting alone will justify this purchase price. As far as the complaints about battery life, it's no worse than any camera I've owned. I use rechargeable AA's and always have a spare set in the bag. The original battery had amazing life for a regular battery too. You can't go wrong with this camera whether you're a pro or amateur. Catch it when BestBuy has a promo going and spread the payments out if you need to. Either way, a GREAT bargain for the price!

This camera is excellent with the 7.1 mp. Cropping on a computer are all excellent quality. Battery is an issue like already reviewed but buy battery and charger from Kodak online and save. You can not beat the camera price and quality of pictures. One draw back is that when taking video, when you zoom, picture is out of focus until zoom is finished. Hey, this is not a video camera so deal with it. Video quality is excellent! I am very happy with this camera! Buy a 2 gig memory card with it. Or buy two, 2 gig memory cards and forget about running out of memory. You won't regret buying this camera. Great price, great pictures. Stop shopping and go for this one!

As an ametuer camera buff, I wanted a Digital Camera that was easy to use and a name brand. The Kodak fit the bill perfectly. It is easy to use in all modes. The software that comes with it make cataloging your pictures easy also modifying pictures is also easy, with a click of the button. Make sure sure you update the software on the internet. The camera is a perfect choice for all camera buffs. Kodak also make getting your pictures developed a snap, it's done over the internet. You have the choice of size style, even projects such as coffee mugs or greeting cards. And you don't even have to leave your house, just a click of the mouse button.

I like this because its works like a pro camera, but at the same time its nice for every kind of scene. The only thing I would have to say sucked about it was that overtime the images seemed to get darker. Dropped it once and the images became dark no matter what. Even with a flash. As for the quality, if you know how to hold the camera properly, you'll get amazing photos. Very nice quality. I have one in silver as well as one in black. I love them both. Kodak is not my favorite brand though as every camera I've ever owned from them ended up with dark images, but their quality before that is great.

I finally gave in and replaced my 35mm with a digital camera. I did not want a really small one, without much zoom, and I did not want a camera as large as my husband's Sony digital camera, or my Cannon Rebel 35mm. Now I wish I had purchased a larger camera. This camera is great for close ups and outdoors. It does not work well for indoor photos, especially if you are not up close to the subject. I was seriously disappointed when I did not get one good photo at my daughter's graduation that was indoors. So, it's OK depending on your use. It does not work well for me.

Got this camera so that we would be able to use it for downloading photos onto the internet. It has worked very well. It takes excellent shots from a distant (zoom has even brought in airplanes that were barely visible to the naked eye to great shots that you could clearly see details on the plane-markings, colors, etc.)It also takes beautiful close up shots as well (you can see the fine details of our cats marking, whiskers, etc.) We have used it for myspace websites, ebay, etc. - All shots look great. Definately recommend this product for the price.

I am a technology challenged person. That said, this camera was VERY easy to use!!!!! and hook up to the computer. We used it for our vacation pictures and were very happy with the results from some far distances. The size is nice and it is a step above the camera that you can just throw in your purse and go. Action shots come out well too! We are very happy with this product thus far. I am considering another EasyShare camera (of smaller size..) for my boys to share- they couldn't get enough of taking pictures with this one.

I purchased this camera after months of reviewing and researching on the internet. For the price this camera is great. The features are simple to use and the modes that this camera offers allows you take photos almost anywhere, even in low light. This is a great camera for the price and it takes photos similar to a camera that costs hundreds more than this one does. I absolutely love this camera! The ONLY downfall is that it does not come with a rechargable ion battery or charger but I found both for $19.99 online.

Over all this is a very nice camera. It does not focus as clearly as some others, at the full extent of the zoom. I have some issues with the reality of the stablization which this camera has, it does not function as well with that as some I have had. But, when it works correctly, it takes lovely photos. Sometimes is suprises me, in both directions of good and bad. Overall, Good Camera.

Excellent camera. My husband purchased this for me to replace a very old Kodak. I take many pictures for sales on ebay and this is so quick and easy. Also takes great zoom pictures and those of the grandchildren playing sports, my dogs and plants. I do needlework and am amazed at how clear the pictures are. This is one of the best buys you will make.

Prior to attending my first professional tennis tournament, I researched purchasing a "decent" digital for under $250. After doing all the comparing, I picked this one. Great choice! All my pictures turned out wonderful (over 500) and have had many inquiries about what kind of camera took them. Solved the battery issue by purchasing rechargeable AA's and charger for less than $20, buy some extra batteries and you're good to go.
