    DON'T DO IT - WASTE OF $$$$

I received this camera for Christmas along with a leopard case with read trim – they look very cute together. I received this because I dropped my Kodak DC340 (I think that’s the right number) on Thanksgiving. I had the DC340 for about 6 years and it took way better pictures than this camera. I’ve only used my camera about 3-4 times since Christmas. I had to purchase a memory card and the AC charger; without the memory card you can only take about 3 pictures or a short short video. A few weeks ago I pulled my camera out to use it and it would not turn on so I tried to charge it. The charge light that is supposed to be on the front according to Kodak’s directions would not turn. I connected the camera via USB and AC – still no light. I emailed tech support , told them what happened and they sent me an AC adapter (not sure why since I told them I had one already); the camera would not charge with the AC adapter they sent. So I took my camera and USB adapter and cord to Best Buy. They used their display USB to prove my camera was working and it was. Then they plugged my USB into a display camera and it didn’t work. So this time I called tech support (the number is on their website) and went back and forth with them for about 2 hours. I explained that I took my camera to Best Buy and asked them to send me a USB cord and adapter – they told me I would have to pay for them! I asked to speak to a manager and all of a sudden I got disconnected so I called back and ask to speak to a manager again after explaining my situation for the umpteenth time. They ended up sending me the items I requested however when I received them and connected them to my camera the light still didn’t come on….so I’m really frustrated at this point – I got online and read a review on here that stated the charging light is the light on the BACK of the camera. I connected the camera to the AC adapter overnight and low and behold it charged!!! To those thinking of buying this camera I think it will be fine now that you know how the charging system works if you just have to have a red camera however if I knew what I know today I would never have asked for this camera. Also, buy the camera from a store who will not charge you a restocking fee – there are stores that have a 30-90 return period – this way you can test it out and return it if you want without being penalized. The battery life is really really short.

    Looks Great, Performs Very Poorly

After buying this camera for my wife as a Christmas gift I was excited about all it had to offer. After reviewing the pictures taken on Christmas day, however, we were very disappointed. Photo quality was very noticeably poor. Digital noise was apparent and images were grainy. For example, a red cotton sweatshirt appeared unnaturally to be a velour or velvet fabric. Face detection did not function consistently and effectively to identify faces in photos and ensure natural results in the photos. Skin tones were blotchy and features were fuzzy. Backgrounds were dark and off color. Red eye reduction was ineffective with severe red eye problems in most frontal photos taken involving faces. Delays between photos was unacceptably long. Documentation was minimal and ineffective in dealing with the problems encountered. The kit did not include a battery charger and the USB cable included had a proprietary connection on the camera end. Kodak recommended charging for 3 hours, but the charge only lasted for 70 pictures. Unless you have a notebook PC accompanying the camera, a separate AC charger will need to be obtained/ purchased. When connected to a PC via the USB cable the photos on the SD card could not be accessed directly via Windows Explorer (although Kodak's proprietary software could likely be used.) A SD card reader is a virtual necessity unless you're at your base computer when reviewing photos. On two occasions the camera did not recognize the SD card and locked up for a minute or two each time. This was disconcerting. As good as this camera looked in the store, it performed poorly in use. We returned to Best Buy today where they exchanged the camera for a Canon (it's too soon for a review on that yet.) RECOMMENDATION: Read the reviews and buy another (good) camera.

    Somewhat disappointed with this camera

I got this camera for Christmas '07 and found it had to be charged with a computer or buy an adapter, which I did. I think the adapter should have been included for the price. The battery life seems to be short, therefore I have to constantly charge the camera. Also the manual that came with it is not good at all. It doesn't give enough information about operating the camera. You have to go online to find out more information. The LCD screen is nice and big which I like. The pictures turned out ok. The worst thing about this camera for me was that it started to make a grinding noise as soon as it was turned on. I contacted Kodak and since it was under warranty, they told me to mail it to a repair center. I did and when I finally got it back, the paperwork showed they had to repair the lens assembly. Now I'm afraid the camera is a DUD since it already had to be repaired. I wonder what will happen to it next. I wish I had taken it back after I got it last year. I thought I would be pleased with this camera because I also have an EasyShare that I've had for 4 years and I really liked it. For it to be a Kodak, I am very disappointed. I've always liked and trused the Kodak name. Not with this camera though! I would not recommend it to anyone!! It's certainly not worht the money. I could have gotten a better camera for less money.

I would only recommend this camera if it's for someone who is just starting out with a digital camera. I've had the Kodak DX7630 for several years and it's the best camera I've ever had. It's pic's are crystal clear! I bought this camera because I wanted something smaller that would fit in my pocket and I like the color RED just for fun. My opinion is that you get what you pay for. I took 20 pic's with this camera when it came and they were horrible! I know how to use a digital camera too. I'm not one who just opened the box and took a few pic's and decided I didn't like them. When you take a pic and then try to review the pic and then zoom it in it's very fuzzy and unclear. There is also lots of noise in all the pic's. This camera only comes with a USB cable to charge it. It doesn't not come with a wall plug or a cord to connect the camera to your TV for viewing your pic's. Most Digital camera do!!! Overall I was very disappointed with this purchase. I returned it and purchased the Casio Exilim Ex-S880 and am much happier. I've only had it 2 days but really seem to like it much better!

I have owned Kodak cameras in the past, and for the most part were very satisfied with them. Not so with this one. The first thing that attracted the wife and myself to this camera was the large screen on the back. It looks really NICE! The menu system is easy to use and very intuitive. Outdoor pictures come up looking pretty good, although sometimes a little washed out. Indoors, though, my opinion changes very quickly. Pictures indoors come out very grainy unless there is a ton of light. Although it is advertised as having a Assist Focus Light, I could NOT get it to work. The face recognition was iffy too, it frequently would not recognize faces and focus on different areas. Another quirk with this camera is the battery charging. To charge the battery, you must hook up a little grey piece to the bottom, connect miniUSB to the grey, and hook other end to the computer. The camera comes with NO wall charger, a must for trips. This must be purchased seperately, but you must still use the USB cord and grey connector to plug into USB AC Adapter. TOOOOO MANY PIECES KODAK! Without any reservations, this camera will be going back tomorrow.

I bought this camera because my c633 easyshare died. This was one a great price and better options. My first easy share was "easy" This one is not. On sunny days you can not see in the large screen to take pictures. You need a regular viewfinder for you eyes to look in or you just point, guess and shoot as you cannot see the screen. It does not hold as many pictures as my old one did without a memory card, which is easy to fix. The instruction book does not tell you how to set up the camera. You must go online to get that info. It does take good pictures, but I don't think they are as good as my old camera. I don't like how one chooses the settings. I happen to be at Best Buy a month later when the Kodak rep was there, and he in fact showed me a few things about the camera which did help. I think the instruction manual should be easier and have all setting in the book like my old camera did. Also it is difficult to charge. I did purchase the ac charger with the camera, but it too is difficut to use and instructions there are also vague.

I'm preggie and due 12/3 and wanted a digital camera so I would be able to take pictures once she's here. When I ordered this camera all the reviews on it were really good and then when I checked back the next day overnight they had dropped drastically so needless to say I was a little worried. I recieved the camera yesterday in the mail and my fears were unfounded. The camera even on the lowest megapixel setting takes excellent pictures. You just have to toy with it to get the flash right for different light and make sure your settings are correct for what you want to do. The software was incredibly easy to install and everything for setup when smoothly. Also the booklet you get that tells you that the charging light is on the front of the camera is incorrect. When you have it plugged to your computer there is a little green light that flashes on the back of the camera that lets you know its charging. I am really enjoying this camera and can't wait to take tons of pictures with it, and it doesn't hurt that I got such a great deal on it.

    Our 3rd and WORST Kodak

We've had two previous Kodak EasyShare's and this one was the worst. I returned it today for a Canon Power Shot. I bought this Kodak because the two previous ones were WONDERFUL. The images were incredibly clear and it didn't take half as long to actually shoot the picture as it did with this camera. I took pictures from a wedding and graduation before returning it and even on image stability mode, the images were beyond blurry and they were very grainy. I compared pictures to two friends that owned Power Shots---their pictures were so much better. In addition, Kodak makes you purchase an adapter to be able to charge the camera from an outlet, the other two cameras came with a computer charger/image sharer that allowed you to take the charger alone and plug it into a wall or use it in conjunction with the image sharer. Even though the adapter wasn't expensive, it was still something that didn't come with the camera. I'm very disappointed because I trusted Kodak and enjoyed the two prior cameras but I would not recommend this camera.

    Poor Picture Quality

Nice size, slim with really large LCD. Good software for the average need of taking pictures. It turns on fairly fast, but not too fast. I had no other quality issues (but the picture clarity) and the camera is charging well through the USP. It had no mechanical problems although it fell on the floor a couple of times. I have it for two months now and got hundred of pictures. The picture quality is really poor blurred, out of focus and is particularly visible when you zoom in a stored picture or you see it in your computer. The ISO 3200 is a joke as you can see the noise even if the picture is taken in good light conditions. The 8 MP can only spend storage bits in your computer. If you got it and you can not return it, reduce the picture size to 3 MP or less to at least save storage space. Do not even think taking pictures at low light with flash as it fails to focus. A 4 MP Sony I have for years now, takes by far clearer pictures. Finally, I tried to reduce the ISO and increase the sharpness but I got no better results.

I really enjoy this camera. It takes great pictures and is much quicker than my last camera. Kodak is great because they make everything very basic and easy to use! This camera has many different settings to take pictures such as for snow, fireworks, light, children in motion, landscape, close shots, portrait and more! i cant believe how many settings there are! the quality of pictures are great! i chose this over the sony, which was what was reccomended to me in the store, however i found the pictures blurry. I also read the same opinion on many other customer reviews for sony. this is very thin and light, the battery is great and is a rechargeable one (like the kind you have in cell phones). The only fault is that i had to buy the charger separetly. The one that comes with it is a charger through your computer and it takes longer to charge. If you buy the charger for an outlet, it is only ten dollars, it charges in only 2 hours and this charger is compatable with any Ipod model. hope this review is useful!

Great camera for the normal point and shoot

This is a great camera for a normal point and shoot person. The screen is nice and large, start up time is quick (within 4 seconds), nice compact size, for being a red camera, its a nice shade of red. There are plenty of options to keep many people happy and shooting nice pictures. My only gripe is the pictures I shot in low light situations with everything set on Auto I was left with grainy pictures, not the subject so much but any darker areas behind the subject seemed to have a lot of digital camera noise. I am giving this camera to my mother for Christmas and it should be perfect for her. Normal daytime pictures turned out great and the internal memory is pretty decent as cameras go, seeing as how some cameras do not provide any internal memory. Taking 18 8MP images (if printing) or 76 2.1MP images (for web and other applications) is a great amount of images for not having a memory card included. So to stop babbling, this is a nice camera, if your in the market then check this camera out.

    So Far, So Good

I bought this camera for myself after Christmas & so far it's okay. After I bought it & read the reviews, I was skeptical to use it...thought about returning it. After thinking about it for a while, I decided to try it out. I've only taken a few pictures, but so far haven't had any bad pictures. I haven't had problems w/the memory card either. I didn't use the software that it came with - that's just pointless to me. I can still download my pics on my pc & clean them up using Picasa2, which I downloaded for free. It takes the red eye out & cleans up the pics the way you want. I believe that no camera will have PERFECT pictures. I think if you take the time to learn about the camera, you should be ok. Yes, the only bad thing I have to say is that it didn't come w/a charger & it's frustrating when charging through the computer because the pc has to be on. I'm going to give it a few more shots (use it for New Years)...hopefully I won't be disappointed or I will be returning it.

I bought this camera because my Fuji Finepix camera was fried (my own fault). I had a Kodak before and was very impressed by the quality. But this camera wasn't what I expected. When I first got it, the picture in the view screen was extremely grainy, so that got me worried. The actual picture that was taken turned out fine. The 8 megapixel really doesn't make much of a difference. So I put the camera on a lower megapixel and the pictures are just as good. The video was quite good, so that's a plus. You can zoom while in video mode. The slim design is definitely a plus. Overall I would recommend this camera for someone who just wants to take general pictures. I got it on sale so I can't say it was a bad deal. The only disappointing thing was that the camera only came with a USB cable so you have to charge the camera through the computer unless you buy additional items. If you're going to buy a camera on-line, definitely stop by the store and just test them out first.

We got some really bad 4.1megpix camera last year for Christmas....probably the $99 Christmas deal.....but anyway, my wife was fed up with it after one day. I decided to get her a nice camera for Christmas this year. I spoke to the BestBuy employee. I told him the shots were always out of focus...batteries always died, pictures very pixelated.... I said what can I get that wont break the bank, but will make my wife happy. He suggested this Camera for the picture quality, rechargeable batteries that last a very long time for me, has a great size screen compared to what I was used to, and its just easy to work with. I'm not a photographer...but I take these pictures, and I upload them online to the photo developer place, and then pick them up the next day. They look great, we took it to Disney, and the shots were great. no complaints here. I stopped trying to print them at home anymore.... the ink is so expensive. Make it easy on yourself. Get one and have fun.

I wanted to buy a camera that I wouldn't be afraid to take with me anywhere I went. So, I was looking for something not so fancy and it came out a great buy. Not only the size of the camera is great (I usually don't like to carry anything in my bluejeans' pockets and this camera almost goes unnoticed) but the screen size is so big that makes it easy to take pictures. The quality of the pictures is at par with other 8MP cameras. It has the same features (Face detection, etc) that most other cameras do. It comes with a USB charger to charge the battery. So, if you don't have a computer with USB 2.0 it will be inconvenient. However, if you have a decent laptop or desktop, it is not a problem. The battery charges in a few hours and it lasts quite a while. Conclusion: You probably will not take any award winning pictures with this camera but it is absolutely and without a doubt great for general picture taking, specially if you take in consideration the low price.

    Very disapointed for a Kodak

I've had this camera for about a week and a half or so. I read all the reviews before I bought this camera (and believe me they made me really think about the purchase) but thinking about my old 6.1 MP Kodak camera I thought I'll give it a try just for an upgrade. Well boy was I wrong. An upgrade this was not. The pictures are extremely grainy and fuzzy no matter what lighting setting you have it on. If it is a close up or a distance shot no matter what, the picture was grainy. Uploading the pics to the software (which I already had from my old camera) did not help the pics look any better. Also it takes about 4 seconds to write the pics to the memory (internal or memory card) which means I lost a lot of great surprise shots of friends and family. I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED in this camera and WILL be returning it ASAP and trying a different brand. Kodak I am very upset with this camera.

i bought this camera less then a year ago and it just stopped turning on. i went into the store thinking it may have been the battery but it was way more . i ended up having to send the camera back to the manufacterer. and im still waiting to see what they have to say . to make matters worse the screen scratches very easily and even starts to have permenant marks on the screen after about 3 months. the camera has tons of features but the icons rub off the nob so you have to guess what feature you are using or memorize the order they are in. the camera takes ok pictures but not much better than my cell phone. it takes too long to snap a picture and im just praying that i get store credit for this piece of junk. it is not even worth selling on ebay id rather give it to my 7 year old cousin to play with . if you get this camera on sale for like 60 bucks go for it . if it is more than that dont even think about it

I got this camera as a gift on christmas...i was super happy- no more buying disposable cameras! for the past couple of days, i've been messing around with the settings, and most of the pictures turn out very nice but there are a few that turn out fuzzy (but of course, all cameras are like that). the one thing that frustrated me was getting the thing charged. make sure when everything is hooked up, you turn the camera ON- otherwise it will not charge. over all its an amazing camera! face detection is rad, the red-ness of the camera is sweet and it'll be fun to use the video option when hanging out with friends. there are tons of settings for this camera- no need for worrying if your pictures are going to turn out bad due to the lighting, becuase most likely, there will be a setting for it. this camera is worth the buy- no questions asked. so enough cheesing out on you guys- go out and buy this camera!

    Horrible Quality Photos

My wife and I bought this camera with high hopes. Well we were unpleasantly surprised when we started reviewing some of the pictures we took. They looked really pixilated and contained a lot of digital "noise". Hoping it was just the screen on the camera we uploaded the pictures to our computer last night. Seeing the pictures up close on the monitors, we really saw how terrible the quality of the pictures that we took were. We could not put the camera back in the box fast enough. It is being returned tonight. It is actually worth paying the 15% restocking fee to get rid of it. I thought it may have been user error and perhaps a setting that may need to be changed. I tried pictures with all types of settings and all types of filters. All garbage. Then I looked up other reviews and found that picture quality was a consistent complaint. Please do your research before getting a camera.
