    Great first camera

This is my first ever camera, and so far I love it. I have a friend who works at best buy and she is a photography major. I asked her which camera should i get for the cheapest price, she said to get this one b/c its great price and not cheap. I got it for $145, includes the camera, easy share program, 4g memory card and 2 yr warranty. First i feel thats a great deal. It takes amazing photos. It is easy to use for point and shoot, and it has plenty of different modes to take other pictures if you know what your doing. For me thats the only downside, i havn't set it down since i bought it two days ago b/c i am still trying out each picture mode to see what takes the best pictures in certain situations. I love the easy share program that comes with it. Its simple, easy to use, may not have as many editing feature as say more expensive programs like photoshop or something. But it lets you edit them and add fun features. The video taking feature isn't amazing, but i didn't buy a video camera i bought a camera. All in all as my first camera i love it, do wish i had more choices in color than just red though.

I bought this camera after much research because my last camera broke in 2 weeks. i was very disappointed. First of all, I love taking close of pictures of everything so it fills the frame. This camera doesn't focus at all even when you are in close up mode that was especially made for pictures 70 cm or closer. It also doesn't focus when you are very far away. Also, the flash is way to strong. It makes everything look white no matter what the lighting is. But if you turn it off, the picture won't come out. the only flash that works well is in the mode where you are taking a self portrait. movie mode doesn't focus either and the sound is way off; even though you can barely hear it. One of the only cons to this camera is the perfect touch. It is very hard to find (it is in the menu while you are doing playback) but I used it on one of my good pictures and it turned out crisp and with a great color. However I only did this on one picture. All in all, I wouldn't recommend this to a friend because it is unreliable and there are cheaper cameras that take better pictures.

I bought this camera last year to replace my old 3.1 megapixel one. Honestly, the picture quality isn't much better than my old camera. I was expecting crystal clear pictures, but most of them turn out blurry. I just use the antiblur setting now, but sometimes they still don't come out well. A friend of mine got a different brand for the same price and her pictures are so much clearer! I wish I would have bought a different brand now. Overall, the camera works, just not as well as some other brands. If you're an avid photographer, this camera probably won't satisfy you, but if you just occasionally take pictures, this one will work great for you! Also, I had to contact Kodak to have them explain how to transfer pictures using Windows instead of the EasyShare software. The computer will not recognize the camera is connected and transfer pictures unless you change several settings. I found the EasyShare software annoying to use and uninstalled it.

    Best Camera for the $$$

I shopped around for about 2 weeks for a small but effective camera that would take great action shots. I had a Sony Cybershot that would blur images constantly and would take pictures 5 seconds after pushing the button. My daughter dropped it and I was upset at the time but I AM GLAD SHE DID. This Kodak M863 IS by FAR the BEST camera in this or any other price range. It takes pictures when I want it to. It takes great action shots. Today I took a picture of a ceiling fan in motion and the shot was perfect as if the fan was off and still. The scene selection is great and I cant wait to try out the fireworks scene in a few days. Now time to buy some accessories. Order online because it is always sold out in stores. I am purchasing another just in case this one drops of course right on the lens.

I bought this camera for my girlfriend last valentines day and she loved it. It is easy to use, it takes great pictures, and the price was good. We had the camera for about three months and the lens got stuck and the camera would not work. We took it to BB and they had it fixed and back in our hands in a week. Fast forward about four months while taking pictures at a party the screen got fuzzy and the pictures were all distorted. We again took it to BB and sent it off got it back in about a week. Best Buy has been great about taking care of the problems It just seems that this camera is cheaply made as it was taken care of extremely well and has had several problems. My girlfriend loves the camera so we have purchased a more expensive Kodak to replace it as it is now out of warranty. hopefully we have better luck with it.

i needed a easy use to use camera to document crazy life events, was good for 6 months until flash just went out, don't know why, I have never drop it, i'm pretty careful, but it just went out, never got it fix got a newer camera, but i still recommend this camera if you know how to deal with kodak products. uploading pictures and videos were fine and easy and the beginning, but after awhile the software started freezing on the computer and uploads were taking longer than usual, or wouldn't upload at all. still don't no why o yea brought camera sept 2008

Quality sucked for a supposed 8.2MP res.

My brother has the M763. It has 7.2MP. And of course I had to out do him so I bought this one, the M863. It has 8.2MP. BUT, do NOT let that fool you. His camera's quality kills mine. The quality for this camera is complete garbage for a claimed 8.2MP resolution. If there are any areas in the picture that are anything other than white its fuzzy. And I say other than white cause you cant really notice the fuzziness on the white objects. This camera's features are amazing...but features mean nothing if the quality can't match it. I am extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with this product. I would not recommend this to ANYONE. Don't waste your money and don't waste your time...buy a different camera!

I bought this camera in October (2008) and had no problem with it until Mid April (2009). I went to take a picture and then It went blank almost as if it had broke and stopped working. I couldn't take pictures for a while after that. In May I would take pictures and it would come out inverted and as if I had taken it at another angle so It would come out wrong! and just the other day (June) the lens just stuck and now its not working. Thank god I have the warranty. I would not recommend this camera. Everyone I know has a Canon, and all of them work so well and the picture's the camera takes are so well and excellent quality. Don't waste you'r money on this camera.

I bought the camera to throw into a backpack and take some pictures when needed, nothing professional or crazy. The camera worked well for about two months. It then started getting weird lines through the pictures. I returned it, thank god for actually purchasing the warranty, and they replaced the lens. It is now just over a year old and has been back to the store for repair for the fourth time. I am highly frustrated with the camera, and the repair process. I have lost a lot of pictures from family vacations and times that would have been perfect for a camera. I would not recommend it. I will be returning soon to buy something else.

Love kodak easy share and this was our 3rd one. got for my 10 year old for the holidays. first one did not charge the battery. returned it and got a new one. Second one does not turn off/retract the lens after 1 or 2 photos taken. LED screen goes dark and camera cannot be turned on/off, even after the battery is removed/reinserted. Spoke to Kodak and the only option is to either return ( i cannot buy another camera with the sd card and battery for the holiday price at this point) or send a 1 week old camera in for warranty repair. Spend your money on a different model - the pix that we were able to get were just ok.

I got this as a Christmas present and I love it! Overall, I found it to be a great camera for quick pictures. I really liked how it lets you choose how many megapixels you want to use varying from 1.2 - 8.2. I was turned off though, by the slow shutter speed, but the quality of the pictures makes up for it. I'd recommend using a Kodak 2GB Memory card with this camera, because it holds up to 1260 8.2 MP pictures with one!

This Camera is Good The Videos COme Out Good and You Can make Pictures from the videos which is what i really liked about the camera but i usually use video and create pictures from it because the other modes make the picture all grainy and its really upsetting because it's a nice camera but if you zoom in forget it you can hardly see the picture even if its on video. However This Camera is great if You Dont Zoom In.

I have never seen a camera take such poor photos in my life. The M863 will only produce a decent pic when they are taken in the BRIGHTEST of daylight. Anything indoors or dawn/dusk produces the grainiest/haziest images I've ever seen from a digital camera. I've tried every setting on the camera in an attempt to get a decent picture and they all produce horrible pictures. My old 3.2 MP Canon produces pictures that are 10X's the quality of this thing. I am now the proud owner of an expensive paperweight as the pictures it takes are trash.

Buyer Beware Not a True 8.2 mega pixel Camera

    Posted
    jccfromfl

After buying the camera, I tried to figure out why the picture quality looked the same as my 5 megapixel camera. I looked up info online and saw some other reviews complaining of the same issue. I called Kodak and they informed me that they were aware of the problem and that it was because the camera compresses the files for email purposes. So there is no way to correct it. Truth is the camera is only a 5 mega pixel camera and they should not be selling it as an 8.2. Great camera and easy to use but just not what they say it is

I purchased this as a Valentine's gift for my mom . My mom happens to be a baby boommer who is technically challenged. She couldn't let go of the disposable boxed camera to save her life (yes, you read correctly 'boxed' camera). Let me tell you she adores this camera! She told me that if she knew it was this easy she would have purchased one years ago!! She recently graduated from simply taking pictures to using the camcorder feature to downloading the images to her computer. Trust me, if she can do it ANYONE can!!

I was able to figure out the camera without reading the instructions. I really enjoy all the extra scan settings. I have used other cameras before and didn't even know about extra settings. I find that the pictures look better if you take the time to set the specifics such as enviroment (snow, beach, sunset) and other settings. It is a good camera for family pictures. The one thing that bothers me is how it looks so grainy at times. It feels like I have to take pictures of some things mutiple times to be satisfied.

I purchased this camera for myself about 2 weeks ago. I used to have an HP M817, it was really heavy and the LCD screen was small. But I'm so happy that I got this one. It is really easy to use, I love that it's lightweight and compact. I searched for the right camera for weeks, and I'm glad that this is the one I bought. I've already convinced a co-worker to buy the red one!

I bought this camera last year, and I've had to send it back 3 times. I love that the camera is easy to use, but I would rather have a difficulty using the camera and it not brake. This camera is very fragile and can't stand alone in a bag or purse. I am not rough with it at all; I do blame it on Kodak because the Best Buy worker said, "Kodak has been having a problem with their cameras lately." Although it takes amazing pictures, it's just not worth it. I recommend a CANON camera.

Called Kodak, can pay shipping to and from to have them "Take a Look" NO THANKS, as much as I spent on this camera and the things to charge the battery, I could had bought 2 different ones! It would be much nicer if You could just use AA batteries!! Not a special Kodak battery!

This is the worst digital camera i have ever owned. I have had kodak easy share in the past but this one was terrible. I had one that best buy replaced for free when that one stopped working, and now the second one has stopped working as well. It chooses when it wants to turn on which is rarely. And when it is on and i zoom, it shuts off. It is not the battery, it has a full charge, it is just a terrible camera, that does not last longer than 3 months.
