It's been awhile since I've seen a Kodak camera this good. Now I've always thought Kodak made a decent camera (good quality for an even better price), but they only make a few cameras that I would say are just as good if not better than any other comparable model in another brand. The last Kodak I fell in love with was the M1033/M1093. The M590 has now taken its place! When you find this on sale, it especially can't be beat. At its lowest, I've seen it sell for $140...a steal! You get a 5x Optical Zoom, Schneider-Kreuznach prism lens, which makes the biggest difference in what sets this camera apart from others. Rather than using its own branded lens, Kodak put in a professional quality prism lens to enhance picture quality. On top of that, it's high ISO mode (up to 3200), is ideal for taking shots without flash in low lighting situations. The natural ambiance in restaurants/bars/pubs/etc. is perfectly picked up, rather than getting what I call the "white wash" effect from bright flashes. The video is great on this, comparable to what you would get with most Flips (720P @ 30 fps). Most flips cost $100-150. For the same price you get awesome video AND pictures? No brainer here folks! The ease of use is always simple with Kodak. Five minutes of pushing buttons and I had this thing down. I didn't even need the manual. Honestly if you have trouble figuring out a Kodak, you probably shouldn't use most technology. Then again, I am a tech savvy 20-something but I use Kodak cameras because they're the easiest in the market. The share button is great too. Now if you thought this was WiFi enabled well all I can say is...you're the reason deceptive advertising exists. Did any of the new commercials say WiFi enabled/capable? If you want that, get the new Samsung...but also be sure to bring an extra $200 and remember to be near a WiFi hotspot to actually upload anything. Yes you still have to connect the Kodak to your computer, but after the initial setup it's as easy as that. You can tag a single photo or video to 20+ emails and multiple websites and as soon as you connect it...BAM! It uploads them to where you wanted with no hassle. With other cameras you need to connect it, upload to your computer, then go to each place individually or load up software and go through the process of selecting where each picture should go. Previously, I had to set aside an hour of my day or more after a busy weekend to share photos on facebook and with friends. Now? I tag them on the go, connect when I get home, then do something else with that hour of my life I have back. The one thing I don't like? The exterior. The lining on the sides makes it easier to grip but it picks up stains and dirt quickly and easily. And the power button is waaay to easy to turn on accidentally in a pocket. Many times I've found it on in my pocket because I accidentally brushed it earlier. Like I said, this Kodak is just as good, if not BETTER, as any Canon/Nikon/Sony/Etc. camera in the 5x Zoom/14 Megapixel category. Even at $200 this is a dependable buy, but when you find it on sale for $140...snatch it up!

Compact, has a grip, and easy to use.

This camera is very slim and compact. I like that when I zoom, the lens stays inside. The rubber grip is perfect for clumsy people like me who tend to drop everything. I like that it has a rechargeable battery (also the same fit as my cell phone so I use them interchangeably). It takes great pictures and makes them look even better. It's fairly easy to figure out how to use it without the owner's manual if you're used to using digital cameras. The screen on the back is one of the things I love as well about it. I haven't recorded any video yet with it. I absolutely love the ease of the share button as well as the Share software. I just plug up the camera to my laptop and it automatically uploads the pictures to my laptop and/or sends the pics to the predetermined destinations. I like that the automatic upload can be turned off as well.

Freezing Up- Great Camera When It Works

Cons- I have had the camera for 2-3 weeks and it froze up on me 3 times already. I thought maybe I had pushed the buttons too fast or something, but by the 3rd time I knew I didn't. It also wouldn't turn on to charge. Yes I know how to plug it in and press on, but believe me when I tell you that I plugged it into 3 different wall outlets and the computer and it turned on only twice and then immediately shut off. My husband also couldn't get it to turn on. I wasn't going to take any chances with it and immediately returned it to Best Buy. I am not sure what to do now because I am not the only one having the same problem with freezing up. It's nothing that you do, it just does it when taking a picture. Pros- Has great features and so easy to point and click and get a great shot. It has face recognition, so when you upload(I use windows to store my pics, not easyshare software because that's a whole 'nother not so good review) and you can still use that feature for tags and such. I haven't had a problem with the quality. I had an easyshare prior to this and liked it, so I was going with another one. But now reading the reviews I am not so sure. This camera at this price for $99 is good. If I had to pay the original $200- I would never buy it again, but would still look for a Kodak. It's easy enough that any age kid /teen/adult could use it. If you get a warranty on it, doesn't matter how it get's broken, it will be replaced. Trust me when I say that is the best $30 bucks you will spend when you have little ones/teens/adults who have kids or are the kids themselves. It happens, the camera will fall or get thrown around. It doesn't matter how careful you are :-)

    Simple but misleading

I was completely blindsighted by the advertising and commericals for this product. We have all seen the commerical with Rhianna, Pit Bull and Drake all using this camera. They make you believe that you can take a picture and instantally send it to facebook, email, or a phone without the hassel of downloading to a computer and then uploading it to the desired place. Well this is not the case at all! You cannot share any pictures until the camera is plugged into the computer. This "share" button basically "tags" a picture and saves the information on where you want it to be uploaded and as soon as you plug in your camera it will send it to the desired location. I was very disappointed with this feature. They really portrayed it poorly with advertising and commericals. The camera quality and features were no better or no worse than any other typical camera. The viewing buttons that allow you to scan through pictures is slightly hard to use. I really would not suggust this camera.

I bought this especially for a trip overseas for it's small size and high resolution picture quality. Little did I know that it would freeze up on me the first day. It took me a while to figure out that I had to remove the battery each time I turned it on to reset it. What an inconvenience! By that time I had missed the Colosseum, Forum, Palatine, and Trevi Fountain. I'm very disappointed that it performed so badly. Also had difficulty seeing the image and framing the shot in bright sunlight. A see-through lens would be helpful. I missed some shots because I misjudged where to point the lens because the screen was obscured by the sun. Other than having to pop out the battery each time I turn it on, it is a great camera. Love the zoom, large screen, rechargability, and compact size for under $100.

I work in a Best Buy store and i've been watching the cameras for a while waiting on a good camera that was a reasonable price. I purchased this camera last week and i really love it. Its easy to use, the pictures are great, the video quality is one of the best that i've seen in a point and shoot camera. Although you can't load the pictures using wi-fi, the share button is great and it makes uploading and tagging your pictures and videos so easy! I have no complaints so far with my camera! Oh yeah, and the best part is it was on sale for $99.99!

I have been using this item for over a month and have been very satisfied with it so far. The picture is good, the features are easy to use, the size is perfect. One item I am not as pleased with is the "Video" portion. I have a Webbie, which should be similar in picture quality, but the Webbie is much better than this camera in terms of video quality. I really would recommend this camera to anyone, especially if you can get it under $100.

I bought this camera because my old kodak camera is old and one of the buttons broke on it. I was really disappointed in this camera and returned it after a week of having it. It kept freezing constantly, so i had to keep taking the battery out. I bought this camera because i thought the features were awesome, but the whole camera ended up falling short. My boyfriend ended up buying me a Sony cybershot and i LOVE it!! I would not recomment this camera to anyone!

    Poor Image quality

At first I thought it was just low light, but all the images were noisy, and soft. Post processing in Photoshop couldn't clean them up. My older Kodak has better image quality. I wouldn't want to post these images on Face Book as they are of noticable poor quality. they look like a cirty cell phone camera took them. Size, features and ease of use were good, but Image quality is forcing me to return this model.

I upgraded from a Kodak EasyShare 10 mp for use on blog/website photos. Very pleased with quality of photos, easy to use. Videos are exceptional and qucik to upload to YouTube, etc. I haven't used all of the features, but it's absolutely fool proof., BBY had a 50% off sale, and with my BBY Reward Points, it only cost $65. What a Deal!!

I have thoroughly enjoyed this camera! It's multi-functional, as described. Easy to use. Sleek and stylish! The only thing that I do not like is not being able to put the date stamp on all my pictures. You have to manually apply it to each picture. Other than that, it is the perfect camera!

The button to zoom didn't work, or at least It was very difficult...Then I found out I had to buy another memory card...Can/t believe when you buy camera that it will only take about 10 pictures before needing to spend more money....Very disappointed in this product.

I've been a kodak user for many years now and really liked their products. About two days ago I purchased the m590 and immediately started freezing. I had to take the battery out to fix the freeing problem.

This camera takes really poor quality pictures. Recommend the Canon S95 instead. Although the Canon is nearly twice the price, so is the picture quality
