After looking at the price of the Lithium batteries that the Z12IS uses, I decided to look for rechargable. The Li-Ion battery sold by Kodak lists at about $40 and the charger at another $35. I stumbled across this kit with the dock for $30 and decided that just having the dock for charging was well worth the $30 Best Buy sells it for. The small Tripod and case are just bonuses. For me, the included NiMH battery is throw away, but I knew that coming in and still feel the kit is worth the price. The convenience of the dock for transferrign pictures is another added bonus, although I don't mind using the card reader in the computer for that. You'll spend another $40 for the Klic-8000 battery if your camera uses that one (unless you want to brave the off-brand batteries on the 'net). CRV3 or AA Lithium Batteries run $5-10 / set so you're looking at 7-14 sets of batteries before breaking even. That would come out to about 2k or so pictures. I like to snap pictures freely and then just keep the good ones, so all in all, the dock / battery combination is a good investment.

    Disappointed with the included battery

I was disappointed the rechargeable battery included with the dock did not fit my Z712 IS camera. The box does say that the included battery is not compatible with all cameras (in very fine print) so I take some responsibility for this. Make sure the included battery fits your camera unless you are prepared to pay almost as much as the dock for the correct battery. Setup was easy as was transfering the pictures from the Z712 IS (which is a great camera) to the PC. Overall, the dock is a great item once you get the right battery.

Just be aware, that although the top of the box says "C-V-Z-P-Series", that this just means that the docking station works with those cameras (with the adapter that came with the camera itself). The battery pack that was included doesn't work with my camera -- a Z712 IS -- so I've got to buy the Li-Ion battery separately. I bought this in the store, and of course it was sitting on the display right next to my camera. It's my fault, but just be aware of what you're getting.

I bought this for it's alleged compatibility with the Z812 camera. However, the battery doesn't fit. That's the single most expensive item in the kit, so I took the whole thing back. I really like the dock concept and used it extensively with my Kodak DX easyshare. I'm quite disappointed in this packaging. In order to get dock, I have to buy a battery that I can't use.

    Doesn't Come With Accessory Adaptor

I have a CX**** version Kodak camera. My camera will not attach to this docking kit without an adapter. In contrast to the product advertisement online, this dock kit does not come with the adapter - it must be purchased separately. It costs ~$15 on the Kodak website...I've not seen it advertised at Best Buy. I have not used this product yet.
