So after reading the reviews on here about the Slice I was a little nervous to purchase it. I was debating between this and the Samsung DualView TL225. Unfortunately Best Buy doesn't sell the TL225 in stores and I had a Kodak camera before and loved the Kodak EasyShare software. The Slice has a great feature set and you just can't beat what you get for the money. I read all about the battery life being poor and the device freezing. After having this camera for about a month now I must say I love it! Shortly after I purchased it I went to Kodak's website and downloaded the new firmware that fixes all the problems it was having. The camera runs way smoother after the update and the battery lasts much longer than I could hope for. I love how the Slice can recognize faces in the pictures and automatically tags them when uploaded to FaceBook. All you do is type their name on the Slice's awesome touchscreen (which looks beautiful) and every time you take that person's picture it automatically knows who they are! Also the share feature is spectacular! You just hit the FaceBook button on the camera's screen and when you sync the camera to the computer it automatically uploads the pics you wanted onto your FaceBook. The 14mp photos are so clear the look better than real life. Sure it's not pretty that you can see every pore on your face when you are sweating in the club, but that is why you are able to take pictures at lower resolutions like 12mp, 10mp, 8mp all the way down to 1mp. Also the camera sports a panoramic stitch feature. You take up to 3 pictures in a landscape and the Slice will stitch the photos together to make panoramic photos. I love the size of the camera, It's small and still packs so many features. The 5x zoom is great and the flash works very well in low and no light situations. I have taken great pictures in dark clubs and dark streets and have no complaints. I would like to see Kodak bring out more color choices. I would have liked to own this camera in red like my old camera.

    Great Features, Bad Software

I purchased this camera for the options that it offered. It had a large capacity for storing pictures internally and kept them organized in an intelligent way. I read the reviews that people had stating that the camera would freeze and it requires a firmware update once you open it up. This did not discourage me since updates are usually quite easy to complete by connecting the camera to the computer. Unfortunately, I was wrong! In order to update the programs on this camera you have to have an sD reader in your computer and download the new firmware update to a microsD card. Once you have completed this you can then install the card into your camera and the updates will be complete. My issue is that I didn't own a sD reader for my computer and didn't want to go and spend more money on an issue that should have been addressed by Kodak. The camera will freeze if you do not update the firmware. I had it out of the box for 10 minutes and it froze. This is unfortunate because as I said it has some great features. With a camera with as much internal memory (5000 pictures) many people may not even use a microsD card in the camera. I am going to return it and purchase the dualview Samsung. If you have the time and equipment to update then this may be the camera for you.

Heard any issues with this camera have been fixed in a simple firmware update on the kodak site. All new models don't have any such issues. I bought this for 299.99 this week, and have been very impressed with the details of the images I took. Both macro detail, colors were WAY above other cameras I currently own in this price range. You can also store thousand of photos on here with a simple Micro SD car and the built in 2GB of memory to view the photos. The LCD is very bright and clear, and videos recorded in HD we great for such a compact camera. It has a display mode for outdoor and other for indoor use. It is less then then 5oz, but is made of solid aluminum. Work great with the new Macbook Pros. Impressive !!

Was a little scared to buy this camera when i read the 2 reviews about it being glitchy and freezing. I went to the kodak web site as soon as i bought this to download the firmware. I just took this camera to disneyworld for the last week and i didnt have one issue with it at all. Battery life seems decent, pics came out good in day and night. Only issue and maybe its cause i have bigger fingers, i had a hard time scrolling through the pics i had already taken. Overall very very nice camera and if u can take the 300 dollar price tag then u got yourself a very reliable compact camera.

the 4.8 f-stop speaks for itself. With that tiny aperture, no light is going to come through- so not only will it be a bad camera in low-light, you will probably have to be in a best buy like (very bright) atmosphere to get enough light. Kodak in general makes poor sensors, so the colors aren't even great after testing it. It tries to be cool by being touchscreen and using microSD instead of regular SD cards, but thats where it ends. You can get a better camera at $150 or less. Oh and the stabilizer is horrible too.

was very excited when this camera lauched. used it for the weekend and while my wife was scanning thru photo's it froze on her. I tried to power it on and off and it did not seem to work. After a few times it was able to reset. Have not used it since. I will be returning this to Best Buy.

I was very unhappy my mom gave it to me for my Bday and it wouldn't work, so I didn't get to take any pics at my party. I thouhgt it was a awsome camara, but I exchanged it twice. I went with another brand. No more problems.
