Excellent quality with low per page cost

    Posted .

I have never owned a Kodak ink jet printer before and I am quite impressed. I bought it due to the advertising the lowest cost per page printed. It seems to be proving that out. I owned a color laser previously and this is both higher quality and lower cost. Good job Kodak!

    Kodak ESP2170 is so-so

    Posted .

I recycle my paper and print in draft mode prior to printing in normal mode. It is not easy to put in the once-used paper and at times the printer jams during printing. Also, I print much in draft mode [no need for a great print]. In draft mode, many times, several lines of the printing get skewed and I have to reprint in normal mode. In addition, at times when trying to print I get error messages that essentially state "error" or "printer not available". No explanation, no way to fix this even though I shut down and turn on the printer. I have to reboot the computer to fix this. Many times when printing several documents in a row, the printing inexplicably goes to Fax mode or Microsoft XPS Document printing. So, I have to stop and select the Kodak printer. Overall, very disappointed in this printer. I think laser is the way to go - fewer problems.

Good value -- No Razor and Blade model

    Posted .

The Kodak printers break the traditional "razor and blade" model used by most printer manufacturers -- sell the printer at a low cost and then make money on the ink. This Kodak all-in-one printer with fax follows that same philosophy. You don't pay a lot for this printer and the ink is a reasonable price. The only problem I have had is that it has problems with the paper feed after printing the first page of a multipage document. It wants to pull the paper back into the printer (but this isn't a duplexing printer) and jams at that point. The solutions offered by Kodak have not been helpful. My solution is simple -- don't print multi-page documents. How Kodak is able to make this work is that the print head -- the part that puts the ink on the paper -- is separate from the ink supply tanks. On many other printers, the ink cartidge contains the print head as well which raises the cost of the cartridge. The print heads cost $45.00 online -- so if the print heads fail quickly -- my review will drop to 1 star....

    Great Printer

    Posted .

This All-In-One printer is a great one at a super price. The ink refills are cheeper than any other brand I have used in the past. I have 1 desktop, 2 wireless computers, 2 I-Pods and a Tablet and I can print from each of this items to 1 printer instead of having a million printers. Super fast and easy to set up. If you are in the market to buying a new printer you will not go wrong with this one.

ink for printer low price (good)

fax feeder not so good, does not feed paper into machine straight. I have to hold it flat or the paper jams and you can only put a couple pieces of paper in at a time? When you redial you have to feed the paper AGAIN. This is my 2nd machine and I'm sorry but... I might bring this one back for the same problem. Sorry Kodak

Wi-Fi, why you gotta bust my chops?

    Posted .

Everything is fine, I mean really perfectly fine, with the printing and scanning and copying and so forth. But the Wi-Fi is unreliable. I HAVE to connect to it wirelessly, and it responds about half the time. And I mean about half of the time that my Mac has been in sleep mode and the printer has been in sleep mode and I wake both of them up and the Mac smiles bashfully and gets right to making me feel special, but the printer looks at me with one eye shut doesn't want to talk. I mean, I thought we were all having a good time here, and then it gets a little weird.

Got it on sale and great for value.

This printer has been the best I have had for the price.I got it for $90 and it is so much better than my hp printer.Only problem I had was with hooking up wirelessly and that was because of my computer blocking it.I refused to take walls down to run it,which makes it my fault, not printers.Customer support helped me very well also before I said,no I'll just plug it in before I give control over my computer to turn my walls off.

    Great choice for everyday printing

    Posted .

Bought to replace my Canon all-in-one which, while still in perfect working order, would not work with Windows 7. The Kodak was connected to my router (Netgear) within minutes and has functioned perfectly since. I haven't used the fax (yet) so can't comment on that. We're now able to print from the PC, laptops, and phones and so far no complaints.

    Worst printer I've owned too

    Posted .

I'm having the same issues as Jessih and several others, didn't even read through them all to realize we are having the same problems. I have owned a few different printers but never had problems like this and so soon when it's still practically new. From the beginning it was using too much ink and I just use it to print out bank statements and copy a few recipes. I started printing in draft to save ink but it also started giving me the jammed paper signal from almost immediately even though there was no jam. I'd have to hit the OK button a few times or power off and on to reset. The ink cartridges give an actual output of less than one-third of what they claim to be able to print. I wrote the date on the last two cartridges I put in to see how long they last with my occasional printing. The last color cartridge lasted less than 2 weeks before I had to get another - it's supposed to print 275 pages but it only gave me about 50 pages. Now it's not printing at all anymore even with 2 almost full cartridges. I just replaced the black cartridge 5 days ago and it's almost half empty - after only printing about 10-15 pages and trying to calibrate and clean ink cartridge - I'm getting nothing printed now! Wow, what an incredible waste of money. Unfortunately my old printer was jamming often after a few YEARS (not months like this one) and it seemed cheaper to replace than repair but it doesn't seem so anymore.

    Worst printer I've owned

    Posted .

I bought this printer primarily because of the claim that it costs less for ink and because it has a document feeder. What I've found is that the ink runs out much more quickly than my other printer. I haven't seen any savings on ink. I've had the printer for almost a year and I've bought 3 sets of print cartridges. In all fairness, one reason for the quantity of ink I've used is because I've had so much trouble with the print quality. I wasted a lot of ink troubleshooting by repeatedly aligning and cleaning the print head). After a month or two of frustration with the quality of the prints, I finally found out that it needed a new print head. Kodak shipped a new print head which fixed the quality problem, but by this time I had installed my third set of ink cartridges. The entire time I've owned this printer, another major issue remains unresolved--almost every time I send a document to print, the printer stops communicating with my computer. It fails to print about 95% of the time and I am forced to restart my computer to get the printer to communicate again. I've checked all settings and configurations that I can think of to no avail. [My other printer never fails to communicate with the computer.] Well, my third set of Kodak ink cartridges are low on ink and the machine will not print any more until I replace the cartridges. After the print head was fixed, I would estimate that I got less than 100 pages printed with these cartridges. I suspect that the ink has dried out while I was forced to send my prints to my backup printer. I had stopped using it altogether a few months after the print head was replaced because I'd run out of patience with restarting my computer to print. I'll hang on to this printer for the scanning and faxing capabilities, but I think I got a lemon.

    Excellent product, excellent price

    Posted .

I purchased this printer/scanner because my previous printer had stopped working. This one was less money, but included a scanner, worked stright out of the box and once installed, the software updated itself to provide even more control. Never considered Kodak for printers before, but I will in future, especially if the ink cost works out to be as low as they predict!

This is my second Kodak printer and will continue to buy Kodak.Very low Ink cost is the best part, I have a HP C7280 also that is junk and has little ink cartridges and if one is out of ink nothing works. Had a little issue with setup on new unit and Kodak cust. Service was GREAT. Can print directly from my Iphone and works perfect.

Great printer for a low price.

I researched which wireless printer uses the least amount of ink. This Kodak Printer was the perfect solution. I brought it home, and set it up on my network, within 15 minutes. Everything worked great. The printer is a little slower than my older Cannon, but it's well worth the wait. I would recommend this printer to anyone.

Great printer for the price. Problem it will not stay on line to print and customer service is the worst. Language is hard to understand and they have no knowledge of the product. Getting ready to return to Best Buy.

Unbelievable - no USB cable included!

    Posted .

I purchased this printer yesterday and was anxious to get it up and running. During installation, I realized there was no USB cable. I was informed by the tech via live chat that it was not included. I will need to purchase the cable separately. For me, this means a half hour drive back to the store. It seems that fact should have been mentioned in the advertising. I did my research before purchase and saw nothing mentioned in the reviews about the lack of a USB cable in the packaging. In spite of the initial disappointment, I look forward to using this Kodak product. I have been highly satisfied with their products in the past.

Can't say enough great things about this printer

    Posted .

I bought this printer to replace my old Kodak ESP. This one has more features and is sooo easy to use. I have not even read the instructions and I can do everything. I love the screen and also that it can copy 25 pages at a time. Makes great copies of pictures too. Would recommend this to everyone; and I have! Plus you can't beat the cost of the ink.

    Good for photos.

    Posted .

The speed of this printer is rather slow. However, If you're not in a hurry, the photo prints are fantastic. I have only used high quality high gloss Kodak paper. I can't say how good prints are on matte finish paper. Print quality on regular paper is OK to good. However, I have yet to see an ink jet printer that is excellent at printing everyday documents. As for the wireless capabilities, I had no trouble at all setting it up on a Windows Vista laptop. The Kodak software makes the connection for you. The only hiccup I've had is that sometimes after the laptop comes out of sleep mode, it will not connect. Restarting the laptop restored the connection and all queued documents printed. Regarding the Kodak software and driver, i have never liked it because of the way the old activeshare software would hog resources and re assign photo clicks to use it automatically. This newer version of the software is much better. It doesn't hog resources and is not very intrusive. I have not used the scanner section, so I cannot comment on that.
